Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa has a saying here in Costa Rica: pura vida. It means full life, and at Blue Osa, they aim to give the guests just that. Each of the rooms and bungalows is uniquely designed to deliver on comfort, convenience, and relaxation. Whether it’s heightened ocean views, a serene garden setting, or a spacious beachfront bungalow, at Blue Osa you’ll find purpose-built, jungle-chic rooms that create the ideal setting for a tranquil, restorative yoga teacher training.

Eco-friendly is not only in design, but Blue Osa also encourages guests to be mindful by implementing a morning silence to a pre-dinner ritual of presenting the food during their freshly prepared organic farm-to-table communal meals. For full relaxation, there is also a full-service spa offering Blue Osa signature facials and body scrubs. Massage practitioners offering therapies such as Thai and deep tissue massage.

A Chinese medicine acupuncturist is also available. Built from the ground up as a sustainable micro-grid that runs mostly on solar power, Blue Osa intends to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible. By living in harmony with the environment, guests experience balanced, mindful living. Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa's mission is to provide guests with an unforgettable experience that nourishes body, mind, and spirit.

Step into the tranquil oasis that is Blue Osa. Set on a remote beachfront location, this eco-resort houses up to 38 guests in 13 comfortable eco-chic rooms located in three main buildings along with on-site facilities: A column-free 1,350 square foot open-air yoga studio on the second floor of the yoga building overlooks their private beach. There is a full-service eco-spa with two treatment rooms each with a private, zen-like garden, and outdoor shower. The cocina is an open kitchen and dining room. There is a chemical-free lap pool with a solar-powered filtration system. An eco-friendly copper-silver ionizing system is used so that algae and other bacteria cannot live in the water. At one end of the pool sits the pool pavilion with comfortable lounge sofas and chairs, perfect for a casual meeting or reading a great book. At the other end of the pool sits a beautiful Indian-style temple with a fire kunda. This space is perfect for a private yoga practice or meditation. An organic garden provides the kitchen with fresh vegetables and herbs. On the property are mango, guanabana, starfruit, citrus, banana, coconut, avocado, papaya trees, and a pineapple patch. Additionally, Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa grows their own spinach, yucca, and other root vegetables. Every day, the farmers bring freshly laid eggs to the cocina.

Retreat location

Blue Osa is situated right on the beach, with tropical rainforest surrounding us on every other side. The beach is a 30 second walk from Blue Osa, making it easy for guests to wake up in the morning at sun rise and stroll down to the ocean for a morning swim as the jungle awakens. The beach is normally quite deserted, very scenic and serene and offers some wonderful walking and exploring. There are no rip tides or undercurrents, which makes for some excellent swimming. The beach is very quiet and normally quite deserted. You will see the occasional fisherman or family strolling by, usually on Sundays or holidays. If you do decide to sunbathe nude, we ask that you be sensitive to anyone that walks by and to respect the local Catholic customs of the country. We ask any guests wanting to sunbathe nude to practice conscious nudity. We have world-class surfing right in front our property. In town, you may rent a surf board and bring it to Blue Osa and from here, explore. We can even arrange for you to take surf lessons for those interested in learning.

Food

At Blue Osa, we believe that nutritious, wholesome food is not only the foundation for a productive life, but is also essential for a happy one. Food that nourishes our soul not only needs to be healthy, but it also needs to be tasty and delicious! Blue Osa is devoted to serving the freshest ingredients possible that are delivered daily to our kitchen.

Our locally-sourced red snapper and mahi mahi are freshly-caught by neighboring fishermen. Whether its pineapple from the Blue Osa property or eggs from the farmers down the road, all produce supports the local economy.

Loving hands knead homemade bread, gardeners gather herbs from the greenhouse, and knowledgeable chefs create a gourmet menu under the guidance of Chef Marie.
