You will stay in the historic Horse & Hound, or The Franconia Inn your perfect home away from home. The Horse and Hound is a 12-bedroom historic inn that is the perfect setting for your writing getaway and will be completely private to the group.

This English-style property is complete with several warm community rooms and bedrooms with writing desks appointed with tasteful details. The property has open fields, gardens, a bubbling brook, and walking trails offering the opportunity to connect deeply with nature and yourself.

For the retreat in July, you will stay in the historic Horse & Hound Retreat Center with extra annex housing in the Franconia Inn. The inns are located in Franconia, New Hampshire, tucked under the Peaks of the Franconia Mountain Range. The warm historic Franconia Inn is 2 miles away and participants have a housing option at that location, as annex suites with private baths during the busy summer. New friendships will be formed, lasting memories will be made.

Writing your book can be the best way to make an impact. During the retreat Birth a Book will help you clarify your book's purpose and strengthen your voice so that you leave ready to take on the role of published author.

This writing retreat's sole aim isn't writing. This is a retreat that’s goal is to reach deep inside yourself and get you on your way to writing and publishing the book that is going to impact your life, your career, and your income.

Registration requirements

This book writing retreat is open to writers of all levels, from beginner to professional. It is perfect for nonfiction writers; however, a few fiction writers have come and progressed. How do you know if you are a writer? Because you write and can tell stories. However, Dorothy only wants you to come if you yearn to make a loving, creative commitment to yourself.

  • 14:00 Class with Dorothy, miraculous and mundane method to write and self publish a book, morning pages and brilliant idea book / workshop: introduction to ikigai / aligned book
  • 15:30 Welcome yoga class with our in-house yoga teacher
  • 17:30 - 18:30 Class with Clementina, workshop: brainstorming stories
  • 22:00 Dinner in your dining room
  • 20:30 - 21:30 Evening library tea with Jessy, introduce your book and Q&A rest of the evening to write

Day 2

  • 07:30 - 09:30 Breakfast at the inn (grab your plant-based breakfast from the buffet - and don’t forget your daily green drink). Individual writing time. Free time to enjoy the great outdoors. Options to hike, walk to town, or relax on the outdoor porch
  • 09:30 - 10:45 Class with Dorothy, Birth a Book blueprint / workshop: the book conversation
  • 11:00 - 12:00 Iyengar yoga outdoor (weather permitting)
  • 12:30 - 13:30 Lunch in the indoor dining room or outdoor terrace
  • 13:30 - 14:30 Library tea time with Jessy, practicing the beats
  • 15:30 - 17:30 Open time for writing
  • 17:30 - 19:30 Dinner
  • 20:00 - 21:00 Class with Clementina in the library, workshop: writing: structure and stories are the secret sauce rest of the evening to write

  • 14:30 - 15:30 Team workshop: get messy with mind mapping

Retreat location

The retreat will take place in New Hampshire, United States. Horse and Hound is located in Franconia, New Hampshire, tucked under the Peaks of the Franconia Mountain Range. The White Mountains of New Hampshire are blessed with tiny New England towns that are a perfect place to be in the summer or fall. And they are surrounded by mural-like White Mountain vistas, gorgeous rivers, and notably crisp fresh air.

Food

You will be served four breakfasts and lunches, four delicious plant-based dinners, and one welcome three-course dinner with organic wine included in the price. You will eat farm-to-table organic food, including fresh green drinks, daily. Kate Foley, from the famed Cold Mountain Cafe and Kate's Bitchin' Kitchen, makes sure each mouthful is infused with love.

This famous kitchen has been rated five stars for over a decade. After meals, sip on some tea and head into your birth a book class and workshops. You will be amazed at how much you accomplish in a short time. You will bond with your bright and warm new friends in class who will support your creative efforts as you delight in supporting theirs.
