Retreat location

The resort is in Tulum Quintana Roo, Mexico, located approximately two hours south of the coast of Cancun. Amansala Wellness Resort is located on the Riviera Maya. Between the pristine blue ocean and the emerald green tropical forests and jungles, it's nature in all of its splendor.

Think of paradise in these terms: laying in a hammock under the shade of a palm tree, facing beautiful white beaches, sipping a cool drink, and enjoying the warm but refreshing breeze caressing your skin. The Riviera Maya offers endless adventures. From tranquil sea coves, bays to the rougher more open ocean, transparent lagoons, mysterious water springs with landmarks, vestiges of culture thousands of years old, or the world's second-longest reef which stretches from Quintana Roo to Honduras.

There are also a variety of beach and water sports to choose from, with places offering all the infrastructure and services you need. Take full advantage of your getaway and relax on the beach to the ever-present rhythm of the waves.

No. They'll take you to most of the interesting sites in the area as part of the programs. Things to do (optional)

Climb a pyramid in Coba

Enjoy a beautiful jungle walk before reaching the incredible ruins of Coba. The archaeological site of Coba, surrounded by five lakes, is still largely hidden in the subtropical vegetation. It contains about 6,500 structures spread over nearly 70 kilometers. This is the most important site of the Yucatan Peninsula that can only be compared with Chichen Itza his eternal rival. Archaeologists believe that Cobá had a population of 50,000 inhabitants at its peak.

Take a bike ride to the Mayan ruins of Tulum

Take a flat ride along the beach to the ruins followed by a guided tour. When you get back to camp, you’ll definitely be ready to jump in the refreshing ocean. Unlike other cities, the pyramids of Tulum are small and most monuments had ceremonial functions. Tulum is the third most visited archaeological site of Mexico and a must-see due to its extremely beautiful setting on a bluff overlooking the Caribbean Sea and located just a short bike ride from the resort.

Traditional Temazcal lead by local shamans

The Temazcal is a two-hour deep meditation experience that includes entering into a stone igloo sweat lodge where you will sweat out toxins to the sound of chanting and the fragrance of herbs. You can enjoy this powerful experience for an additional cost of approximately 100 USD.

Visit a freshwater swimming pool

Tulum’s Grand Cenote is a large beautiful garden natural swimming pool with gentle white sand beach type areas along with easily accessible caves for snorkeling and diving. You can swim around the edges of the cenote, viewing depths up to 10 meters. Views include columns of stalactites and stalagmites of all shapes and sizes which resemble cities of skyscrapers. Large balls of roots and vines seem to grow out of the underwater ceiling, connected to the large jungle trees above. Schools of fish tend to follow, eating up the plant debris which swims fins and paddling feet tend to stir up. Little green turtles paddle around near the garden's edge.

Yoga-inspired eco-tour to the Mayan ruins of Muyil and the Sian Kaan natural reserve

This incredible opportunity includes a five-hour journey through the historically rich Muyil ruins, a ceremonial meditation on-site, a boat ride through enchanting natural lagoons, and a relaxing float down the freshwater canal of Sian Kaan Natural Reserve. The tour has an additional cost of approximately 120 USD.

Spa treatments

Two 60-minute spa services are included. You can pre-book additional massages and/or facials. Additional massages, facials, or reflexology will be 90 USD per hour. You can upgrade one of your included massages in your retreat package to a Mayan healing session for 45 USD.

A 12 hours notice is required on all spa services cancellations including, but not limited to: massages and facials. Any spa service canceled or postponed with less than 12 hours notice will be subject to the following conditions:

  • Included massages: if forfeited, may be rescheduled with a 30 USD per service rescheduling fee
  • Pre-booked services are subject to a 30 USD per service cancellation fee
  • Pre-booked and prepaid massages will be subject to a 30 USD per service cancellation fee. Prepaid balance, minus the 30 USD per service cancellation fee can be used towards the following incidentals only: alcohol, gift store items, additional spa services, and phone calls.

There are no reimbursements on pre-booked and prepaid massages. The spa therapists turn down other work and travel far to get to the resort, so they appreciate your understanding of the situation. How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please arrange your flight to arrive at Cancun Airport, the resort is located 1.5 hours south of the Cancun airport by car. They can arrange ground transportation for you through a reliable and comfortable service that they have been using for some time now. The cost of transportation to or from the airport and Amansala is 135 USD each way. They do their best to coordinate for guests to share when possible, in which case, the rate would go down to 70 USD per person based on two, and 60 USD based on three.

They will do their best to match you up with anyone else arriving the same time you do to share the ride and share the cost. If you have prepaid your transportation and wind up sharing, you will have a credit for the difference upon arrival. If you have not paid in advance, you will need to bring cash to pay for the service upon arrival at reception. If shared, the prices break as follows:

  • 2 people: 70 USD per person
  • 3 people: 60 USD per person
  • 4 people: 50 USD per person
  • 5 people: 45 USD per person
  • 6 to 8 people: 40 USD per person

It takes about 80 minutes to get you from the airport to Amansala. There is an additional charge of 20 USD each for all pick-ups from the Cancun hotel zone. Pick-ups from Playa del Carmen are subject to the same rates listed above. They will do their best to coordinate multiple passengers for all arrivals. However, due to varying arrival times and flight delays, they can not always be 100% certain you will share even if they have it scheduled that way, but they will do their best.

They ask that you pay for transportation in cash upon arrival at Amansala if you have not prepaid and that you look for the “Amansala” sign after you exit the customs terminal. They use safe reliable car services that have been working with them for over 10 years.

You will find the driver as you exit and he will be holding a sign that will say "Amansala". If you have any problems locating your driver you can also send an inquiry.

Most flights come into Terminal 3 with the exception of domestic flights. If you come out of Terminal 2, just head straight out, but if you come to 3, you can migrate towards the little restaurant as you walk out towards the right called "Margaritaville" to find him easier.
