Just on the northern end of Uvita, Bienestar Uvita Yoga Shala is situated in two homes with two pools and the yoga rancho centered in between. Most of the classes will be held in this space, surrounded by gardens.

You will have the chance to see monkeys and a variety of birds (toucans, parrots, hummingbirds, etc.) throughout the day. Bienestar Uvita Yoga Shala also has a rescue horse that wonders the property freely.

Each home has three bedrooms, and a shared bath. There is also one shared room available. Maid service is provided weekly and they always have access to laundry. There is a chef who prepares fresh local organic meals daily.

On Sundays, your day of rest, Bienestar Uvita Yoga Shala only provides breakfast since everyone tends to go off on adventures.

Program

Daily schedule

The class begins at 6:45 a.m. with practice every morning and finishes before sunset daily. Long breaks are given each day. The class size is kept small to make sure they can accommodate the full scope of your needs and provide experiential opportunities to individuals within the group.

There are days with homework, general short reading assignments or preparation for teaching practicums. Each student will be given several opportunities to practice teaching others.

Uvita is a small village on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is the center of a unique area called Costa Ballena and the home of Marina Ballena National Park.

Bienestar is located on a hilltop looking the river with the sweet smells of tropical flowers in bloom, enjoy the gentle and constant breeze, while you practice yoga and meditation, mindfulness and serenity, and at times, crazy joy and a lot of laughter.

Bienestar Uvita Yoga Shala lives close to the land here and at Bienestar, so they take advantage of the delicious bounty offered by this tropical spot. And they take the time to accommodate your dietary needs, including vegetarian and vegan. (Raw food as well but simple uncomplicated raw foods)

Typical menu options

Daily fresh fruit breakfast, homemade yogurt, and granola, teas, herbal beverages, coconut kefir, and kombucha. Lunch is an abundant salad with local produce and varies daily.

Dinner changes between meals at local restaurants to home-cooked ethnic veggie meals (mostly Mediterranean) or a whole-food-based approach to vegetarianism with the occasional optional to add fish or chicken breast.

Lunch and dinner can be eaten on campus or independent. Fruit, pipas (coconuts), and natural beverages are available all day.

Things to do (optional)

You can hike up the river to a beautiful waterfall or go on one of the many beaches close by. Bienestar Uvita Yoga Shala has a whole booklet prepared for you to see and chose options in the area.

Most popular is the sunset horseback ride along the beach and a visit to the local wildlife rehab sanctuary.

Locally, there are a lot of things to chose from on your day off in the area, such as wildlife hikes or a wildlife sanctuary visit, snorkeling and scuba tours, surfing lessons, whale and dolphin watching, zip-lining, massage, myofascial release therapy, osteopathy, and acupuncture sessions. Enjoy the natural beauty of the area, the sea, the waterfalls, the jungle and relax.
