You can be guaranteed that your online yoga teacher training course will prove to be a deep and meaningful discovery of yourself and the hidden gems of your body, mind, and soul.
One of the primary goals of BeWell Yoga is to graduate yoga teachers ready to create relevant yoga sequences for their clients, introduce relevant modifications with a clear goal, and teach Vinyasa Flow and Yin yoga sessions with confidence, ease, and passion.
More importantly, BeWell's mission is to train, encourage, and graduate yoga teachers who live and breathe to share a mission and purpose.
BeWell believes that using the right tools, everyone has the ability to live their daily life with vibrancy and vivacity. They use ancient wellness rituals to unravel the stresses and blockages that daily modern life has created sometimes unbeknownst to ourselves. And they guide their clients to flow back to their unique and individual balance.
Teacher trainees will be guided through a deeper understanding of more than 20 types of meditation. You will explore the theory and mechanics of meditations within the umbrella of general meditation, Buddhist meditation, Hindu (Vedic and yogic) meditation, Chinese meditation, Christian meditation, and guided meditation. This will take you on a daily journey during the course through the theory, practice, analysis, and self-inquiry of zen-vipassana-mindfulness-loving kindness-mantra-transcendental-third-eye-chakra-gazingkriya-sound-tantra-I am meditation experiences.
The goal is to deepen the teacher trainee's knowledge of the variety of meditations and techniques available. In turn, teacher trainees should develop adequate knowledge and practice to understand the best meditation technique to share with their future students (always respecting greatly the concept of Parinamavada).
Teacher trainees will learn how to plan, how to set up, and how to best guide meditation within a yoga session. They will also develop the skillset to establish a daily meditation self-practice and self-inquiry rooted in longevity and curiosity.
In the pranayama section of this course, you will look at Kapalabhati, Nadi Shodana (alternate nostril breathing), Sitali-cooling breath, Bhramari, Lion’s Breath, and Dirga.
Throughout the course, you will study different pranayama techniques by means of theory sessions, practicum, analysis, and self-inquiry. You will dive into the understanding of the 3 Gunas and the concepts of Rajas Tamas and Sattva.
Through the deeper discovery of the assessment of Rajas Tamas and Sattva balances within a group or indeed within yourselves, teacher trainees will learn what is pranayama, why pranayama is used, and assess what pranayama can add in terms of value to the current group situation or personal life situation.
The teacher trainee will be empowered with adequate information and practice to lead simple pranayama exercises for self-practice and indeed with their future yoga students.
Teacher trainees will gain a deeper understanding of pranayama practice through daily practicum, daily-inquiry, and self-observation throughout the course.
A large part of the yoga teacher training course is the experience and daily practice of the asana itself. Teacher trainees will explore theory through participation in daily asana for some hours each day. Teacher trainees, through guided asana practice with trainers, will be guided through various focuses and themes within asana classes.
You will explore themes such as 'action in the body/asana families' through classes focused on sun salutations, backbends, hip openers, twists, standing balances, arm support, forward bends, inversions, Yin-deep relax, and the chakras (1 chakra focus per asana class).
You will explore nature and cosmos themes understanding asana classes with seasonal inspiration, cosmic inspiration, and natural elements and environments inspirations.
Finally, you will touch upon class themes linked to archetypes and mythology. An important factor within asana will be the active workshopping of asana classes by placing asana and sections of the sequence under the microscope for a deeper understanding and analysis of alignment, cues, adjustments based on anatomical and energetic understandings.
Some asana sessions will involve self-practice where an official trainer will be present to observe and feedback on sequencing, alignment, and self-adjustment.
The course gives a short insight into the understanding of kriyas and mudras. Teacher trainees are guided to explore independently examples of kriyas, chants, mantras, and mudras and to test and trial one of each, each day of the course, for analysis, self-inquiry, and observation within the workbook and within non-contact hour assignments.
Teacher trainees will be walked through the general housekeeping of yoga teaching touching on communication skills and applying communication skills awareness from their first practices teaching sessions, through to their own participation in group theory sessions discussing yogic philosophy and concepts.
Group dynamics will be highlighted and observed throughout all aspects of the course and especially as you drive deeper into the important principle of sequencing with Parinamavada and Guna assessment and understanding.
Time management and priorities are observed daily and throughout the course from both the practice of arriving on time to all classes through to managing time within a sequence from the smallest detail, such as breath to breath, through to the overall bigger picture, such as sequencing through to peak pose and allowing sufficient time for integration of movement thereafter.
You will have a special session on teacher-student and business-personal boundaries integrated into the ethics of yoga sessions.
Finally, the specific needs of Individuals are addressed in deep focus sessions on prenatal-children-seniors-yoga injuries-diseases and conditions. A lighter focus is given to the specific needs of individuals in the sequencing sessions covering the needs of specific groups related to emotive/seasonal themes.
The course has a strong focus on the business of yoga covering the following topics in both contact and non-contact hours
You will look deeply into the principles of sequencing, the concept of Parinamavada, Indian Philosophy aiding sequencing inspiration, the art sequencing arcs, and peak pose models alongside sequencing for prenatal, children, seniors, injured, special requirements and special emotional requirements.
Anatomy will provide the backbone of the course and, whilst having especially dedicated theory sessions, the theory will be recalled in most asana classes and areas of the course where relevant.
Teacher trainees will be guided through the skeletal structure and system and encouraged to have a clear understanding of the major names of the 206 individual bones and the purpose and makeup of the system.
There will be a particular focus on the spine. You will correlate knowledge on the skeletal structure and function with its application to the practice of yoga. Teacher trainees will be encouraged to demonstrate their knowledge of the skeletal system through assignments and exercises.
The course will cover the same analysis and understanding of the muscular, nervous, endocrine, and digestive systems. Teacher trainees will be encouraged to have a clear knowledge of how to refer to major areas within these systems and their correlation to yoga practice and system balance, improvement, and restoration.
You will look at nutrition and fitness and the importance of nutrition linked to the digestive system. You will explore how this correlates with the practice of yoga, observing and assessing clients and yourself through self-practice and self-inquiry and sequencing for improved balance and restoration of the digestive system.
You will also look at how emotions, the ego, and the true self are tied into these factors.
Also, within the anatomy section, you will analyze injuries and special conditions and how various injuries and conditions should be observed when sequencing. The goal of the sequencing is to balance, improve, and restore through the correct selection of and sequencing of asana.
This will be further extended out to the application of meditation, pranayama, kriyas, chanting, and mantra where such are said to aid with improvement of life quality.
This session will cover the important anatomical considerations of the joints especially in relation to yoga practice and prevention of injury through the use of muscular locks and bandhas.
Here, you will take a look at joint movements' technical terminology such as extension, flexion, etc., and the anatomical planes.
You will walk through the seven chakras analyzing and examining what chakra balance, blockage, deficiency, and abundance look like in human behaviors and considerations.
You will further explore restorative methods and sequencing to generate balance and harmony in each chakra.
You will go back to sequencing with your newfound knowledge on the skeletal, spinal, and muscular makeup and systems and revisit the concept of Parinamavada and Indian Philosophy aiding sequencing inspiration.
BeWell will ensure you have the necessary tools and materials available to you to create effectively sequence and create variations of asana for the different spectrum of potential clients you could find before you in your classes.
In an understanding of yoga philosophy, you will take a journey through the history of yoga from Patanjali's eight limbs of yoga, the Kosha sequence, the Four Evolutionary Steps of Yoga.
You will look at various types of yoga asana, what they mean, and where they come from. You will review the Ego vs True Self teachings and understandings of modern-day gurus such as Eckhart Tolle, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Louise Hay, and Osho.
You will analyze how such concepts tie in and are indeed the key between modern society and modern-day practice of yoga and understanding of yoga philosophy.
You will take a journey through the yoga sutras, in particular, the yamas and the niyamas, the first two practices of yoga according to Patanjali. These are guidelines or concerns for the choices you make in terms of the relationship you choose to have with the world around you.
These considerations, after careful exploration within the course, will be carried into asana and sequencing themes and also daily observation and self-inquiry.
You will dedicate a workshop to the observation of ethics and standards of the yoga teacher inside and outside the studio. In this session, you will cover yoga teaching beyond the mat and within the lifestyle of the teacher.
Finally, you will explore self-practice and the importance of self-practice for yoga teachers.
In the first days of the course, all teacher trainees will receive a workbook. This will serve as a textbook for informational materials and also as a workbook that students can complete daily exercises and workshops within.
The workbook will guide the students day by day through the course with daily activities for use during contact hours, and exercises such as observation and self-inquiry for completion during non-contact hours.
As is yoga, the entire course is interlinked. As more information is delivered, this new information impacts integrates and builds upon previous theory classes, workshops, and physical practices.
The workbook aims to slowly and surely tie up all related information together within the workbook daily in a clear, understandable, and most importantly, inspirational way. This way, just as in a yoga class, the teacher trainee feels like the mountains of information they have learned over the 200-hour course are carefully, and delicately integrated.
In order to receive the certificate to register with Yoga Alliance, it is necessary to complete all coursework prior to December 30th, 2021.
