Casa Marea Alta has two bedrooms. Each bedroom sleeps up to six people and has two queen beds, a bunk bed, and a private bathroom. There are hammocks on the porch out front. Walk around the side of the home to a fully equipped kitchen that is ready to use.

You will do two daily yoga classes on the open air yoga deck, or on the beach. Choose the style of yoga you want. Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Acro, Aerial, Power Yoga, meditation, etc. You will work with the asana and pranayama to create a relaxing and fulfilling atmosphere.

Retreat location

You will be staying in beach-front accommodation at Casa Marea Alta, a yoga and surf house located in southern Costa Rica. Costa Rica has plenty of nature, great weather and stunning beaches, and is the perfect location for a relaxing and fun retreat. You will stay right on the Pacific Ocean. You will be only steps away from the beach, which lies right outside the front door. To the back is a privately owned biological reserve, which means that you will be surrounded by the jungle at all times. This gives you many opportunities to see three different species of monkeys, who come right up to your window, over 300 species of birds, and much more.


During this holiday, you will be enjoying two daily delicious and healthy home cooked meals, one daily breakfast, and one daly dinner. Vegan, gluten free, no dairy, and vegetarian diets will also be available on request.

How to get there

Driving directions from San Jose

  • Leave San Jose on the new highway heading to Jaco. Before entering Jaco, take the coastal road south.
  • Travel south passing turns for Playa Hermosa, Quepos, and Dominical.
  • In Palmar, you will meet with Pan-Am Highway go right.
  • Fill up on gas / diesel here. This is the last real gas station, unless you are going into Golfito. You can get fuel in Pavones but only from a drum at the hardware store.
  • Then, in Rio Claro, go right again.
  • There will be a sign for Pavones around 4 to 5 miles on the right side of the road, but be aware and pay attention.
  • You will need to take a hard switch back left turn at this sign. The Rode Bar is on the corner. If you get to Golfito you have gone too far and missed the turn, go back and watch for the Rodeo Bar.
  • The rest of the way will be marked with new signs, and will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Make a right in Pueblo Nuevo.
  • Make another right in Conte, there is a supermarket and bar here.
  • You will be on the road to Pavones, 45 minutes from this point.
  • Stay left at the two forks in the road after Conte. The other roads go to Zancudo.
  • Upon arrival to Pavones, you will pass the grocery store, Rio Claro Bridge, and Pavones Point Break. Stay on the beach road about 6 kilometers more, passing over a couple bridges and trough the Pavones beach.
  • Look for Tiskita Jungle Lodge on the left. Casa Marea Alta is located directly after them. You will see a sign for Casa Marea Alta.

Arrival by airplane

  • Hop on one of the regional flights from San Jose to Golfito. A regional flight (Sansa or Nature Air) from San Jose to Golfito takes approximately 50 minutes. After you have landed in Golfito, take a taxi to Casa Marea Alta (Pavones / Punta Banco). Beth Anne can help to arrange this taxi for you as well. The price is typically 80 - 100 USD.
  • Hop on a regional flight from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez. A regional flight (Sansa or Nature Air) from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez takes approximately 50 minutes.

Arrival by boat

From Puerto Jimenez, Casa Marea Alta will arrange a 45 minutes boat ride to Pavones where they will pick you up.

Arrival by taxi

From Golfito, Casa Marea Alta can arrange a scenic taxi ride, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 10 days before arrival.
