Mar De Jade is a yoga, wellness, and vacation retreat center nestled between the tropical jungle and the pristine sandy beach of Chacala, México. This is an intimate place offering groups and individuals a relaxing, supportive, and inspiring environment in a peaceful fishing village. Mar de Jade was created in 1983 in the spirit of active community service, of gratitude for the natural environment, and of the cultivation of genuine friendships.

Overlooking Mexico's Pacific Ocean and Chacala's sandy golden beach, the main house with its graceful contours and Mediterranean style serves as a gathering place for a variety of events and happenings. It houses the yoga and meditation studios, dinning rooms, bar, guest lounge, and reception.

The spacious layout of Mar De Jade offers each area a sense of privacy as it blends with the natural surroundings. Discover mango and papaya trees, lay in a hammock under the shade of a palapa, and walk through a small organic herbs garden.

Garden rooms

Garden rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated, some crafted in a Mexican style, with natural rock, hand painted mosaics, and tropical mahogany wood finishes while others have an airy Mediterranean feel with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light and fresh breeze.

Each room has a terrace with a view of the lush tropical gardens, a spacious bathroom with bathtub, and some have a separate shower. Located on the ground floor, these rooms are easy to access either with a few steps or with a ramp.

Guest room

Guest rooms are simple yet comfortable rooms for one or two people with garden or jungle views.

Guest room loft

Guest room lofts are a more basic yet spacious option for families or three to four roommates. The bottom level has a king bed (or two twins) and a bathroom; the loft is accessed by a spiral staircase and has two twin beds (or a king). They all have garden or jungle views. The loft is not recommended for children under six years old or people with mobility issues. Minimum occupancy is three people.

Ocean rooms

Ocean rooms are bright and airy, with floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto a private balcony with an ocean view. Comfortable and well appointed, each room has a sitting area with a futon that can accommodate up to two children; some have the futon in a space separated by a door for added privacy. All have bathtubs and some have a separate shower as well. Most are on third and fourth floors and require steps to climb.

Each day will begin with the ritual of movement and stillness to anchor you in the tone of presence. Other activities such as hiking, swimming, dancing, and fire ceremony will delve you deeper into synchronization with the biorhythms of nature. What can you find in the stirring of your watery heart? Is your path determined by the flame of desire or the tread of connection from sole to earth? Together, you'll explore these questions and so many more.

The seat of the soul yoga retreat is available to all levels of practitioners. This retreat will meet you exactly where you are as a supportive foundation to break through limiting beliefs, to intimately experience the mind-body connection, and to provide tools to harness the most powerful portal in all experience: the power of the present moment.

Asiana (Kirstin Harper) has always felt a strong connection to the natural elements and how they interact in body on earth. Growing up in the mountains of Colorado with wilderness as her backyard, Asiana had constant access to exploring her environment. She recalls climbing trees, sitting in caves, adventuring with the animals, and in the forest. All of this engaged her curiosity, and encouraged quietude, as well as agility of her mind and body.

Mar de Jade is along Mexico's tropical Pacific Coast, about 90 minutes north of popular tourist destination Puerto Vallarta, three hours west of Guadalajara, and two hours south of Tepic. It is located on the south end of Chacala Beach, Nayarit, Mexico.

Chacala's half-mile bay is home to approximately 300 full time residents and receives many seasonal residents and visitors during the winter months. It is a favored beach destination for Mexican families during the most popular vacation periods such as Semana Santa (Easter week) and New Years.

Chacala has one of the most pristine beaches along the coastline, soft golden sand lined with coconut trees and palapa (thatched-roof) restaurants. The town still retains an unhurried lifestyle and the locals are very friendly and welcoming.

What I left with, at the end of three days of yoga, was a feeling of being refreshed, a trust that I could go back into the real world standing a bit taller in life, and lastly, a deep emotional healing. The retreat touched all my senses and emotions. Thank you, Mary Beth, for such a spiritual and inspirational weekend!"

"Una is an amazing facilitator, organizer and yoga instructor. She has a gift for partnering the perfect people for the perfect experience. Laura Dawn has an unparalleled understanding of how to and compliment flavors and textures. Her cuisine was the most beautiful food Ive had in a very long time. Autumn Skye, I am speechless. I have never been in the presence of a more beautiful, loving, compassionate and talented woman. I truly enjoyed the way she sees the world and her ability to translate it and communicate about it. Her voice, humor, grace and poise are an inspiration and I havent even gotten to her artistic skill yet. I arrived a beginner painter and in one week I feel that I have learned how to see the world with new eyes. Her instruction was concise and easy to understand and her command of the materials is awe inspiring. I am so grateful for the experience. It was well worth the fee. I hugely recommend this retreat and will be coming back next year. I loved everything!" website, edited

"Una, your art brought me to a place that I had been forbidden to go by other people's judgment of what I should be doing. Feeling the paint in between my fingers against the board, watching magic happen right before my eyes was such a powerful sensation that it still brings me to tears thinking about it. It unleashed so much that painting, especially with my hands, strongly calls to me and experiment without anyone's judgments. I just want to say that you've made a major difference in my world and pray that I may cross paths with you soon again."

Thank you again for presenting the best yoga retreat I have ever been on."

  • Review by Lindsey

"I so enjoyed this retreat! The chakras theme is clever as it lends itself to a day-by-day focus on each chakras. Katrina has a magnetic energy I was immediately drawn to - I probably do not fit the typical yogi mold but she was open and interested in my life. I so appreciate that she made a personal connection with all of us. I learned a great deal from her and now view yoga from a new lens, knowing it is not just about a mind, body connection, but also mind, body, and spirit. Despite the touch-and-go weather, she always had a great attitude. She also really cared about whether we were enjoying ourselves and if we wanted to do any side activities, or change up the schedule. Thank you so much for a great week! Please let me know of any other retreats on the horizon!"

"When I arrived at Mag Rock and first headed down the stone steps to the ocean I felt completely off balance. By the end of the week, I was running up and down them barefoot two at a time, feeling totally grounded, yet light on my toes. I've never felt stronger or healthier in my life after these seven amazing days! It is nice to go on a vacation with a group of friends, but going on a retreat with Lindsay and Una was a completely different and life changing experience."
