Lupe Pra Baldi
Lupe’s journey in Yoga started with a therapeutic approach, as many of us, she began yoga when her body was already in pain. Since then, yoga has been her medicine and she blends it with a holistic approach to health. Her classes are aimed to strengthen our bodies, our vehicle and temple through this life experience. She likes to reward her students with restorative poses before a well deserved and long savasana. As a former school teacher, she is a passionate educator and will offer specific verbal cues to bring awareness to the biomechanical alignment of our bodies.
Our resident ashtangi and senior instructor Christophe has trained in India and the U.S over 5 years. For him yoga is a science, a philosophy and an art that invites us to tap into our own wisdom to navigate through life; he has a profound understanding of how the connection of the mind and body works. ⠀ He breaths, lives and even walks yoga. His classes are demonstrated, multi-leved and always seasoned with a witty french sense of humor that teaches us about the importance of being able to laugh at ourselves, to adapt to circumstances remaining flexible and open-mind
Classes: Morning Flow & Work It! Amanda's yoga journey started over 10 years ago- when a colleague encouraged her to give it a try. She hasn't come off her mat yet! Being a stage actor, singer, and dancer, Amanda has always been fascinated by breath and its ability to alter the mind, body, and spirit. It's an exploration that never ceases to amaze and inspire- especially in class. She encourages her students to breathe, listen to their bodies, and radiate loving-kindness. Amanda completed her training in Costa Rica with Hari-Om Yoga School, under the direction of Jun Lee.
Amelina is our little firecracker! Tiny and powerful Amelina was born in France, but she fell in love with the ocean and the jungle, and without a doubt in her heart she moved to Costa Rica after finishing her Vinyasa Yoga teacher training. Raised in a family where her father was trained in yoga in India before becoming a therapist. She has been influenced from an early age by the Indian philosophy, yoga, meditation and spirituality. As for her, she is a passionate, fun and knowledgeable teacher, who flows with her own style, always challenging her students, in an ever so gentle way.
Franca grew up with her family in the Dominican Republic, where her mom practiced yoga in her shala at home; as a little girl Franca watched her and was curious about it, trying to join and imitate her mother in her practice. ⠀ ⠀ 5 years ago, after studying Holistic Nutrition and finding that a holistic way of living made more sense for her, she started practicing yoga more often, until she met the perfect teacher to do her training with in Santa Teresa. ⠀ ⠀ Franca emanates a sense of calm and wellbeing that is rooted in the way she approaches life: tuned to self connection, open to healin
Daniel has been practicing different types of Yoga for almost 13 years, he started with Raja Yoga (meditation) and then eventually moved onto Hatha Yoga. He became a certified teacher in Yoga Mandir, San José in 2011. He teaches Yin Yoga, flow classes that are a combination between the Ashtanga and Iyengar methods, and guided meditation. He's also a certified traditional Thai massage therapist, a cacao ceremony host, and a Vipassana meditator.
Salva was born in Madrid, Spain in 1979. Physical activity has been always part of his life. He has a background in Health & Fitness, for more than 15years he has been training people from all over the world and helping them with their injuries as a Physical Therapist. His goal is simple...to empower every single person that shows up to his classes. He has a holistic approach to fitness, a follower of the natural movement who loves to share his passion with all kinds of students, from beginners to advanced, to help them to improve and challenge themselves in healthy and happy ways.
Jenny is our Jersey girl, equal parts sassy and sweet. She has been studying Yoga and meditation for 15 years and completed trainings in Indonesia and Costa Rica. Philosophy and Kirtan were her first loves, with anatomy becoming a focus after years as a competitive athlete. She recently traded the snow for the surf and is passionate about guiding students safely into their practice. She is also a Reiki and massage practitioner and likes to incorporate this into classes with gentle adjustments and soothing savasana journeys. Her Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin classes are challenging yet mindful.
Through practicing yoga, Kelsey has found a profound connection with her heart and intuition, and after years of devotion and practice, her heart led her from NYC to Santa Teresa. She is passionate about sharing the powerful connection of breath, attention, and movement with others. She has an authentic teaching style that encourages students to listen to their bodies and move intuitively and fluidly through asanas. She believes yoga is a moving meditation and her goal is to help you drop out of your everyday thought patterns and find a blissful state of peace by the time you reach savasana.
Yaiza's yoga journey started long before she knew and it all began out of a need to deepen her understanding of Self; mind, body, and soul. Movement has always been a part of her, whether through dance or functional training. As for spirituality, she's working on it and believes that it's a lifelong discovery. As a teacher, she aspires to combine her experience with the physical and the spiritual to help others along their path of growth. She is committed to creating a safe space for students to explore their limits while having fun and developing their self-awareness.
Addie first found yoga when she was 15 and is still inspired almost 10 years later. She completed her teacher training at Kripalu School of Yoga and Ayurveda. Travelling around the United States and Costa Rica, she has taught and practiced with many amazing yogis. Her classes promote strength, patience, and self-discovery. She hopes to continue not only teaching but learning from others for many years to come.

Great location (just a little away from the hustle and bustle). Staff were all amazing, very knowledgeable yoga and surf teachers who were all great people, too. Great big breakfast, yummy cakes! Lovely, beautiful grounds, great refreshing swimming pool. Super quick email communication before arrival.

All the surfing was sweet, great instructors for that and for yoga. People from all over the world. Located in a sweet spot, surrounded by cute restaurants and hang outs. Beach is right there. Loved that the rooms had air conditioning. 10 out of 10 would do it again.

Ohana villas were great; our villa was super cute, had its own little deck with a hammock and chairs, and right by the pool (loved the pool and ‘cool tub’). So serene and beautiful landscape, we even spotted some howler monkeys in the trees! Quick 5min walk down to Believe Village to catch the bus to surf lessons and for the yoga classes. Both the surf instructors and yoga teachers were excellent- very knowledgeable, nice and fun.
We were right off the Main Street, which had all kinds of Resturants and shops to easily walk to, and the beach right across the street.
Awesome location, great facilities and Lucio and the staff of Believe were all so great/ helpful with local things to do, knowledgeable about the town and very nice.

Due to physical limitations, I was able to enjoy either Yoga or Surfing. Others guests enjoyed it very much.
This is why there is Yoga Retreat.

"Met lovely people and yoga was fantastic!"
The other guests made my experience here. They were a lovely group. The yoga with Amelina was some of the best yoga I’ve ever done - well worth the money! I moved to an AC room which was so much better than the dorm. Quite small but clean. Good location for restaurants and beach. Surf lessons were also great - the instructors we’re patient and you really got a lot of tuition given the groups were so small. The hostel staff add guests to an events WhatsApp group on arrival which is useful for booking surfing and knowing if there are social events happening (not that many of the staff came along!)

"So much more than I even hoped!"
The surf instructors were so friendly, kind, patient and focused on the group having fun. Each instructor only had two / three people at one time. They were super flexible and encouraging.
Each day had a different type of yoga and different yoga instructor, and was GREAT for all levels.
I went on this trip alone and it was so easy to meet others and connect. It was so enjoyable and I would happily go back tomorrow!

"Blend of Surf and Yoga - Flex schedule"
Overall I thought this was a great “retreat”. The location was amazing, and the staff was very friendly and laid back. The accommodations were more hostel like, a lot of solo travelers there for different reasons. Most people were there for surf over yoga. I had a private AC room which was great! Much more comfortable than the non-AC dorm room. Santa Teresa is absolutely beautiful and very laid back. Pack lightly, bring sunscreen, and be ok with being sweaty and dirty for 23 1/2 hours out of the day. John our surf instructor was patient, encouraging, and supportive! He was great! I am happy to say that I’ll be returning sometime in the near future! I’d suggest booking this if you’re looking to surf, do yoga, chill, and meet amazing like minded people.
from Canada, March 2019
This was a great experience. Hostel-like environment brought people from everywhere together which was nice. Surfing location was amazing! Yoga was amazing, Christof was wonderful and challenging.
A/C was much appreciated as it was very hot.
Walking distance to lots of cafes and restaurants, as well as the beach of course.
Flew to TMO which was very scenic, took shuttle/ferry back which took a lot longer than expected but the ferry was a nice experience.

"High quality tropical experience, friendly people"
The complex is large and has a lot of space for yoga, pool, and for just relaxing. As a solo traveler, fellow travelers are very friendly and making friends to surf and have dinner with was really easy. I had little yoga and surfing experience coming in, and had a great time learning both. Surfing lessons were incredibly fun, especially with Gustavo. Dinner tokens means you dont worry about local currency when you go out to eat. I’d come back again.

"Welcoming, accommodating, good vibes."
From the moment I arrived at Believe I felt right at home.
Surfing- John the instructor was a delightful human being and great teacher. He taught the fundamentals, respect for the water and the people around you, and was constantly engaged. Everyone was surfing on the first day and saw progress every day thereafter. Yoga- I found the classes to be on the easier side, but there are so many levels it’s a tricky position for the teachers to be in. It is what you make it! I found the vinyasa with Rachel to be a spiritual and grounding class, and Melt with Chelsey the most invigorating. Meals- breakfast was delicious!! Healthy, fresh (I swear I’ve never tasted such delicious fruit), and I loved the juice of the day that Tomas would create. I had purchased four dinners, but didn’t end up using them because there were so many social events at night to attend. You can trade some of your tokens in if you don’t use them, so it wasn’t a problem. Just go there and eat all the fish. Trust.
Staff- THE HEART OF THIS PLACE. They are all kind, generous, fun, helpful, amazing people. They work SO hard. I really appreciated how they organized fun events throughout the week. It creates a unique bonding experience with other travelers, and often takes you to places that have a more local vibe.
The staff works non stop to make sure you have a wonderful stay. I didn’t want to leave and will definitely be going back!!! Thanks to Uki, Sandri, and the amazing volunteers! 🥰

"See your Pinterest board come to life"
So I work a lot. Like, way too much. If I take time off of work, I am totally going to pay for it when I return in backlogged e mails and whatever. So when I go away, it needs to count. My experience at Believe blew my mind! The villa looked like something off of my Pinterest boards, for real. The staff made me feel completely at home by being available 24/7 and patiently answering any and all silly questions I had. Other areas of Costa Rica are more touristy but Santa Teresa still feels untouched. This was the ideal vacation to relax and recharge. Yoga classes were held twice a day. I do yoga often back home but still learned so much from the wonderful instructors. Surf lessons could be scheduled as you liked. Jhon was my teacher and as someone who isn’t a great surfer, if was nice that he was so easy going and made the lessons fun. The ocean is less than a 2min walk from your room. Make sure to go for sunset. I traveled solo but was able to connect and disconnect from other people as much as I wanted. I would strongly recommend booking with this group.

Very laid back and felt like home. No one pushed us, just let us know when things were happening and kept us aware of any scheduling changes. Instructors were accommodating and supportive.

"Pura vida!!! "
I felt at home as soon as I arrived. Uki and Lucio were so welcoming !! They were available during my entire stay, with good advices and checking eveything was ok. I stayed at Ohana and loved the place, quiet, in a perfect location, close to all restaurants and bars.
I ended up not being able to fit in all the yoga classes though as I fell in love with surfing so much!!
Santa Teresa is such a special place!! It’s calling me again already.. Pura Vida!

Franca was very responsive from the time I made the reservation. She ensured I was set with my travel and transportation plans then linked me up with Uky, my host. Uky greeted me upon arrival, helped me get situated then let me do my own thing. Uky was very attentive and went above my expectations. I was lodged at Funky Monkey with other solo travelers who quickly became friends. The staff at Funky Monkey were very helpful and friendly. Food there is really good!! Accommodations are very comfortable. Uky checked in with me every day and was quick to respond to my requests for transportation, extra surf lessons, and changes to my schedule.
Everything about this trip was amazing.
