Following traditional and eco-construction principles the bungalows were constructed by local artisans using natural materials. Every bungalow displays a unique art collection by Cuban artist Yunior Marino and has a spacious terrace perfect for relaxing, working, or just listening to the ocean. Barbarenas offers chill common areas, like the pool, a big open kitchen, and a yoga rooftop. The pool is cleaned by a system of natural filters without the use of chlorine and Juan makes sure the pool is always enjoyable. In Barbarenas they are continuously growing and expanding, so during your stay, you may hear a minimum of noise but it shouldn’t interfere with your tranquility.
Program
Barbarenas makes you a personalized schedule for your stay. The amount of yoga classes, services, and other experiences you participate in is completely up to you, as well as how you spend your free time. The team at Barbarenas will be available for you throughout your stay. Your day could look like this:

Misael
Misael is a profesional surfer, born and raised in Puerto Escondido. He has been surfing his whole life, he participates as a surf judge in tournaments and is a founder of Amisurf an organization that provides certification for surf instructors. He has taught surf for more than 10 years, outside the water he is an environmentalist and elemtary school teacher.
Laura
Yoga is the journey back to your true self, connecting the body and mind. By sharing her passion through teaching, she gives others a safe space to fully be themselves, and let gratitude flow into their lives. She loves building some heat in a flow, or finding stillness in a restorative practice. She wants people to leave the class feeling the best version of themselves and to take what they have discovered on the mat into the world. She is a strong believer of taking care of yourself to be able to show up for others with compassion, leaving every place better than you have found it.
Retreat location
Mexico’s Puerto Escondido is a highly desirable place, a small mellow town where Mexicans, ex-pats, and world travellers intermingle and surfboards are as normal as cell phones. It is famous for its laid-back, authentic beach ambience; no big hotels. It is rated one of the top surfing destinations in the world. Learn to surf, do yoga, speak Spanish, enjoy a swim, snorkel, sky-dive, shop at the local markets, rent bicycles, or do a horse ride.
Barbarenas is located just 10 kilometres away from the Puerto Escondido Airport (PMX) and a 10-minute walk to La Punta, Zicatela beach where you find delicious restaurants and local handcraft stores. They are surrounded by nature on top of La Punta Beach.
Barbarenas is a new place that is still growing. They do have work happening on site, but they do what they can to keep the disturbance to a minimum.
