Homestay type means guests will stay at a local family house. Guest house type means guests will stay at a more private location, not at the local family house. All the accommodations, either homestay or guesthouse, are located separately from the retreat center (yoga, activity, dining area). The accommodation is just 5 minutes' drive or 10 minutes' walk from the retreat center. Shuttle services are provided to connect guests from the accommodation and retreat center.
Beauty, grace, spirituality, and strength are some of the stunning features of traditional Balinese Watukaru yoga. It focuses on the mind and one's spiritual awakening, hence emphasizing meditation and the inner flow of energy in its practice.
The practices are held by traditional Balinese Watukaru yoga practitioners who believe that without meditation and chanting, yoga is just an exercise / sport and the physical practice of yoga is the preparation for meditation, which helps you to silence your mind and heal your body.
Apart from your two daily yoga classes followed by meditation, you can participate in two village or cultural activities every day, such as rice farming, waterfall purification, coconut oil making, Balinese cooking class, Balinese language workshop, learn traditional Balinese dance, and so many more! You will share these beautiful days with like-minded people from around the globe and open your mind to the diversity and beauty of cultures, philosophies, practices, and beliefs.
The spiritual energy of this peaceful village of Sesandan will elevate your spirit and renew your body, mind, and soul. A beautiful opportunity to experience authentic Balinese Hindu culture while practicing yoga and self-love! Baliuma Retreats can't wait to welcome and grow with you!
Here is a general overview of your daily schedule.
All of the amazing cultural activities and excursions are listed below to choose from:
I Gede Arya started to learn Balinese traditional yoga and healing meditation by the age of 17 in 1993. He is a disciple of the ninth generation of Perguruan Seruling Dewata in Bali. He specialises in the Watukaru yoga tradition (Balinese traditional yoga) of Perguruan Seruling Dewata, Balinese traditional meditation, and snake style of martial arts (silat). He is committed to conserving the ancient Balinese yoga tradition, meditation, and silat by founding Baliuma Retreats.
Krishna is a traditional Balinese Watukaru yoga and meditation teacher. She has been studying and teaching Balinese yoga, meditation, pranayama, and chakra opening for the past ten years. Her hands-on approach, passion for teaching, and loving smiles are mind-blowing and will certainly help you deepen your yoga and meditation practice. She is the kindest, most fun and passionate teacher and friend you will ever meet.
From a rice farmer and wife who worked over twelve hours in the rice paddies every single day in addition to taking care of a family of six, Dewi transformed her life by studying English and the practice of yoga. Now, she not only manages Balitrees, but also teaches Traditional Balinese Watukaru Yoga to both western guests and women and children from her local community. She believes Yoga is a way of life that can lead to find more peace and joy from within oneself. When in a class, she teaches with her heart and soul, giving all of her love, warmth, and authenticity to her students.
