Your hosts of this retreat are Mind’s Garden, a wellness business based in the UK and Balitrees Retreats, a joint effort of the local ashram, Perguruan Seruling Dewata, and the villagers of Sesandan. Together, they strive to offer you a truly memorable experience, support the local community, and contribute to sustainable eco-tourism in Bali.
During your retreat, you can choose to stay in a shared or private guesthouse room or homestay room. Guesthouse rooms are located within our retreat centre, surrounded by stunning rice paddies and coconut trees that will take your breath away. There is also a newly built pool, spa centre, meditation garden, reception, lounge, and yoga shala at our retreat site. The guesthouse rooms are traditional Balinese style bungalows decorated with a unique bohemian touch. Each ensuite room has a flat-screen TV, air-conditioner, bathtub, shower, toilet, wardrobe, desk, and beautiful beds fitted with soft Egyptian cotton beddings. All the artworks in the rooms are beautifully done by artists from our own village, of whom we are very proud.
Homestay rooms are located only a short walk away from the retreat centre (5-8 minutes). They are part of local Balinese people’s homes. Staying in these super comfy homestay rooms offers guests a great chance to be part of our village life and connect deeper with our Hindu culture and people. Each room has a garden-facing terrace, a lounge area, a flat-screen TV, air-conditioner, shower, wardrobe, desk, and cozy beds with Balinese style beddings.
One of the most profound lessons the Coronavirus pandemic has taught us is the importance of CONNECTION. Material things don’t actually matter as much as we once thought they were, and what’s absolutely essential to the human experience is being able to connect with others, physically, emotionally, spiritually, or energetically. In the Guided Meditation Program, you'll be given psychoanalysis and positive psychology-based guidance, hypnotic exercises, and powerful mind control techniques to work with your own mind and communicate with it effectively; to observe your thoughts and feelings from the inside out and cultivate non-judgmental & mindful awareness of yourself; to connect deeply with your inner voice and intuition and develop stronger mental and emotional resilience; and to learn how to truly relax your body & mind and blossom into the grandest vision you have for yourself. The sessions will be conducted with the assistance of aromatherapy and candlelight, creating a magical ambiance that will help you to arrive into deep relaxation, wonderful peace, and blissful stillness.
In yoga practices, you'll learn different styles of practice including Vinyasa, Restorative, Yin, Hatha, Power, and Traditional Balinese Watukaru Yoga, to help you develop greater body awareness, learn to listen to your body, supercharge your practice with the concept of neuroplasticity and flow effortlessly into stillness and inner harmony in order to experience the truth of who you are.
In meditation practices, you’ll practice various techniques such as Mindfulness, Silent, Tibetan Tonglen, Staring, Hugging, and Dancing Meditation. I Gede Arya started to learn Balinese traditional yoga and healing meditation by the age of 17 in 1993. He is a disciple of the ninth generation of Perguruan Seruling Dewata in Bali. He specializes in the Watukaru yoga tradition (Balinese traditional yoga) of Perguruan Seruling Dewata, Balinese traditional meditation, and snake style of martial arts (silat). He is committed to conserving the ancient Balinese yoga tradition, meditation, and silat by founding Balitrees Retreats.
Krishna is a traditional Balinese Watukaru yoga and meditation teacher. She's been studying and teaching Balinese yoga, meditation, pranayama, and charka opening for the past ten years. Her hands-on approach, passion for teaching and loving smiles are mind-blowing and will certainly help you deepen your yoga and meditation practice. She's the kindest, most fun and passionate teacher and friend you'll ever meet!
Danai is a psychotherapist, yoga and meditation instructor from Greece. In search of a more peaceful mind, she travelled across Europe into the majestic landscapes of Finland, where she discovered her true passion—fluid body movements through yoga and dancing. Combining her psychology background with her certification in Vinyasa Yoga and guided meditation, she guides people through their individual paths of self-acceptance, transformation, overcoming of past trauma and better communication with their subconscious mind and inner voice.
Landy is a certified Vinyasa and meditation teacher. She has a natural gift of listening in order to understand people on a deeper level and applies effortlessly her understanding and empathy to her teaching or as she prefers to call it, guided self-healing through meditation, pranayama, yoga and yoga therapy. She integrates her love for poetry, art and oriental philosophy & medicine into her teaching and has been a part of many people's positive self-transformation and journeys to happier and more fulfilling lives.
Claudia is a mathematician & statistician turned full-time yogi. She’s certified in both Yin yoga and Yoga therapy, while studying extensively Chinese traditional medicine and acupuncture. Her passion for understanding the intricacies of the human body especially its self-healing power guided her to discover a unique approach of teaching—she helps students to deepen and expand their practices through activating specific acupressure points in the body. She believes there’s infinite power held in our body, and we just need to learn to use the right key to unleash it.
From a rice farmer and wife who worked over twelve hours in the rice paddies every single day in addition to taking care of a family of six, Dewi transformed her life by studying English and the practice of yoga. Now, she not only manages Balitrees, but teaches Traditional Balinese Watukaru Yoga to both western guests and women and children from her local community. She believes Yoga is a way of life that can lead us to find more peace and joy from within ourselves. When in a class, she teaches with her heart and soul, giving all of her love, warmth and authenticity to her students.
The retreat center is a peaceful sanctuary away from other tourism, located in a spiritual village, close to Mount Watukaru, in the middle part of the magical island of Bali, Indonesia.
