the Kampung provides private beachfront accommodation with old world charm in a stunning natural environment. With rugged mountains forming the background and a tranquil sea in front it is an ideal place to relax while exploring this remarkable area. The Kampung offers fully serviced private two, three, and five bedroom compounds each with their own private living/dining area and swimming pool. Antique village houses from Java are used throughout for bedrooms and other structures. These are traditional teak wood village houses and all are original antiques that have been carefully restored and only slightly modified to be more user-friendly. The hand-hewn wood beams and intricate carving used in these homes are the work of village craftsmen from a bygone era.

Yoga styles

This training is suitable for all styles and most of your teaching is based on the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, which describes the system that is typically known as Hatha yoga today. In addition to the detailed study of basic Hatha yoga postures, Bali Yoga Wien offers a practical, intelligently structured yoga sequence, the “Ananda8 Sequence”, that can be taught with confidence and competence right after your certification and also be adjusted and varied to your own liking and creativity. At the same time you will practice and experience the following styles of yoga:

Beate's yoga is based on a mixture of Iyengar yoga (which she has practiced intensively with the senior Iyengar teacher Olop Arpipi in Indonesia for many years), Therapeutic yoga, and intuitive Vinyasa Flow. She has a 500-hour certification from Yoga Alliance International that she acquired from 200-hour teacher training in Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Neyar Dam, Kerala, South India and 300-hour training in Vibrant Living Yoga in Bali (Vinyasa training).
Bruno Teyssandier
Bruno was a professional mountain biker and a mountain tour guide before he started yoga 17 years ago. He has been studying and practicing yoga in many forms. His classes are rigorous, but with a sense of humor. He will take you beyond perceived limits.
Rachel Ellery
Rachel Ellery is an anatomy movement educator based in Asia. Her career started as a fitness instructor and sports therapist.
Andrew Mournehis
International Yoga Teachers Association (Yoga)
Andrew Mournehis came to yoga through injury and crisis, and his initiation in the Tantric yoga tradition began in 1997. This led him to explore the healing potential of yoga and its benefits towards physical and mental health. The underpinning of Tantra yoga set a solid foundation in seeing the divine spirit and order of things in all circumstances, and he has since followed a diverse yoga background immersing himself in a multitude of yoga traditions. His teaching is a combination of Hatha, Bhakti and Tantra yoga.

Retreat location

This training will take place at The Kampung, tucked away on Bali’s far east coast in Amed. The Amed area is a great place to experience Bali’s natural beauty and culture and is a well know destination for some of the best snorkeling and diving on the island. You can swim and snorkel directly off the beach in front of the Kampung and diving is easily arranged nearby. Amed and East Bali are home to some of Bali’s oldest villages with ancient temples, rituals, and music. Amed is a sleepy fishing village that has managed to keep away for main stream touristic development, although so famous for its beauty and coral reefs.

Food

Our three daily buffets are vegan with fresh high-quality ingredients from local markets. Only superfoods such as chia we bring from Europe or cashews we get further away for the region. Bali Yoga Wien also offers raw cacao and green smoothies, healthy treats, and teas.

Please be aware that every Wednesday and Sunday there will be no lunch an dinner arranged at the villa as you are invited to go out and experience the local restaurants and eat just what you like. Of course you may stay in and order as well. This is to give you the needed personal touch to your diet. This is at your own cost. Breakfast is included every day.

The nutrition is very important to us and it is a big part of yoga. Bali Yoga Wien makes sure that all food is of the highest quality, washed in clear water. We use only local coconut oil and sea salt in Amed.

Things to do (optional)

Bali Yoga Wien has combined this training with exciting travel across Bali. Costs for the excursions are not included but minimal (for transport is usually 2 - 12 EUR and temple entrance is about 1 - 3 EUR). The following excursions are an established part of the program and surprise or spontaneous trips may happen in addition:

  • Lempuyang Temple on the first week
  • Tirta Gangga (holy water source temple) for Melukat (Balinese cleansing ceremony) at full or new moon at sunrise
  • Regular nature & silent walks on beach and hills
  • Yeh Mampe Waterfall
  • Besides these trips, you will have time to grab snorkeling gear or a kayak and venture into the ocean on your doorstep or to stroll through the sleepy village
  • Diving is right there for your weekend!

Massage treatments

There will be Balinese masseuses at the villa and Joko and his team will have one representative in Amed to assist you with your physical needs. Massages cost around 10 - 15 EUR.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. If you wish to be picked up at the airport by Bali Yoga Wien, the transfer cost is 30 EUR. You will be picked up by an Indonesian driver holding a sign with your name at the airport once you have cleared customs. You will be driven to Amed (90-minute drive).
