Phillipa Joy is a qualified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant from the Australasian Institute of Ayurvedic Studies (AIAS). She has been a Reiki master for over twelve years. A chef and event coordinator by trade, she has worked in seven different countries with the opportunity to work from kitchen garden to table and be exposed to many plants and vegetables used for cooking and healing. She is passionate about educating people about Ayurveda and using food as medicine in order to maintain good health and prevent disease.
Jo loves the feeling of movement in her body. This is why yoga appeals to her, as it brings awareness to the felt sense within. Her love of movement manifests in yoga, physical theatre performance, and travel. Her yoga practice has a Hatha-Vinyasa foundation, though she is influenced by somatics and physical theatre exercises around embodiment too. She trained at SomaChi yoga; its base has a strong lineage and links with Tibetan Buddhism, somatics, and tai chi. She likes to teach in a way that allows a person to discover their own bodies and possibilities in a mindful flow of movement.
