During the retreat, you will stay at Surya Retreat in Fuerteventura. Supplements may apply for private rooms and en-suite facilities. The villa is beautifully situated nestled among the volcanoes with views to the sea. Offering different levels of accommodation to suit all budgets, you will sure have the perfect place for you to lay your head.

Surya Retreat has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, beautifully decorated rooms from and lots of comfy chill-out areas. The eco-friendly villa is powered by solar panels and a wastewater management system to feed the gardens. If you are there in season, you will taste some of the delicious fruits and vegetables grown in the Azul garden. There is also a hot tub Jacuzzi in the garden next to the pool, perfect for you to relax in.

Program

This 200-hours teacher training program is for any practitioner who wants to become a yoga teacher as well as for yoga students who want to advance and deepen their yoga practice and understanding of yoga.

During this yoga teacher training, we will study asana, anatomy, alignment, yoga philosophy and most importantly you will learn how to teach a safe, engaging and effective yoga class in Andrea’s incredible, engaging style.

Course content:

200 hour yoga teacher training with a strong emphasis on Hatha Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga sequencing. Students are expected to maintain a daily yoga practice before starting this course. We will ask students to take part in 10 yoga classes in a variety of styles and write an essay on their experiences, commenting on teaching style, adjustments and alignments cues in a positive way.

Students will also be expected to read the yoga manual given beforehand, becoming familiar with yoga history and philosophy, and complete a reading list.

The course content will include the following:

  • Teaching methodology
  • Restorative yoga, therapeutic yoga
  • Adjustments and modifications
  • The business of yoga

This course will take place at Azulfit’s Surya retreat, Fuerteventura (Canary Islands, Spain) followed by one long weekend at OneYoga Studio, Manchester for final evaluations and testing. You are also able to take your final evaluation at an agreed date in Fuerteventura.

This yoga teacher training is lead by three experts in yoga, philosophy and anatomy and you will come away with a profound understanding of yoga, the human body and supported after the course with follow-ups and encouragement as you engage in the next phase of your teaching journey.

Andrea combines a passion for creative movement with a firm grounding in the vast traditions of yoga and Eastern thought. You will explore asana – the postures of yoga – as profound tools for transformation. This course will allow you to deepen your practice, empowering you whatever your future goals.

Retreat location

This retreat will take place at Surya Retreat in Fuerteventura, Spain. Surya Retreat is located in the village of Villaverde. The retreat is a 10-minute drive from the beach in the beautiful and typically Canarian village of Villaverde. With amazing volcanic scenery and incredible vistas of the ocean and Lanzarote, this is the perfect respite from the busy day to day.

The villa is also conveniently located for those wishing to get out and explore the island. There are walking paths and a bus stop close by.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Fuerteventura Airport (FUE). For a wider choice of flights, you can fly to Lanzarote Arrecife airport (ACE) and take the 20-minute ferry crossing to Fuerteventura.

The last ferry crossing to Corralejo from Playa Blanca, Lanzarote is at 07:00 p.m. so please make sure your flight arrives by 04:00 p.m. if you are travelling with luggage. Shared transfers from the airport can be arranged for guests arriving at similar times to keep your costs down.

Arrival by bus

Coming by public transport is not recommended as you will need to take three buses to get to Villa Azul. Take bus number three to Puerto del Rosario, changing to the number six to Corralejo, then the number eight to Villaverde.
