Richard Masla

Richard Masla, our Ayurvedic practitioner, studied traditional Ayurveda under Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Pankaj Naram, and Dr. Syama. Richard has mastered the ancient art of Kerala Ayurvedic Panchakarma and has trained all of our massage therapists.

Bimala's experience in massage therapy began on the Big Island of Hawaii. Her journey eventually brought her to Florida where she continued her education at the Florida School of Massage. Bimala enjoys connecting with others through a therapeutic and compassionate touch. She hopes that her skills can assist others on their journey to health. Bimala looks forward to working with all of those coming through our clinic.

Katherine obtained her doctorate of pharmacy in 2007 from the University of Florida. After completion of these studies, she was called to study the ancient and sacred arts of energy healing, yoga, meditation, herbal medicines, and Ayurveda. She has formal training in these areas yet much of her knowledge comes from her own path of self healing. She has a solid science-based education and uses her rational mind when called to do so yet is able to trust in the intuitive process and the healing modalities of non-western origin. Her healing practice is highly interwoven with her love of the natural world and her spiritual path.

Malika has been a massage therapist here at the AHR for the past 5 years and took the yoga teacher training here in 2012-2013. She is able to connect the dots and dive into yoga. She generally teaches morning yoga/pranayam/meditation. Her classes are beginner - intermediate Vinayasa with attention to core strengthening. She also likes to practice spiritual heart opening visuals. This is the beginning of her journey and she is open to feedback.

Melba studied with Richard at the Ayurveda Health Retreat, where she learned Panchakarma massage and she also received her yoga teacher certification. She has worked at several healing retreats. Previously, Melba studied Thai massage and Emotional Release (EFT) with Dr. Anthony James. Melba is a gifted healer. She specializes in case-specific bodywork and energy worker.

Greg spent 10 years in Vedic ashrams learning the Vedic sciences. He then left and spent 30 years studying spiritual esoteric knowledge from various traditions, and spent many years in the mountains meditating and living close to nature. Now he lives a peaceful quiet life and cooks as a form of meditation at the Ayurveda Health Retreat.

Chaya Sharon Li

Chaya brings over 25 years of experience to the community as an Ayurvedic practitioner, Sr. Kripalu yoga teacher, performing artist, and author.

Shari King

Shari teaches Vinyasa flow and has practiced yoga since 1995. She earned her yoga teacher certification in 2010. She is from Massachusetts and has an extensive background in theater and dance. She was even a stand-up comedian. Her teaching style is nurturing and peaceful, yet she can be playful and light-hearted while still teaching a grounding class.

Ania Kruszewska

Ania has been teaching yoga since 2007. Her training stems mostly from the Kripalu style (a flow-type yoga emphasizing connection to the breath). She also draws from earlier Iyengar trainings for alignment and Ayurvedic knowledge. Her class is geared toward new and intermediate yoga students, but advanced yogis can still receive the benefit of a heartfelt, loving practice.

Jenny Roberts

Jennys class consists of pranayama to center the mind, asanas to tone the body, and guided relaxation to harmonize the spirit. It is designed to suit novices as well as the seasoned yoga practitioner. Jenny has been teaching Hatha yoga for the past 15 years. She trained privately with E. Gray, with influence from Gita Iyengar.

During your free time at the retreat, you may want to take advantage of the abundant out-doors activities available within a fifteen or twenty minute drive. Nothing encourages relaxation and recovery like quality time spend reconnecting with Mother Earth. There are many clear springs, rivers, and lakes for swimming and canoeing or kayaking, as well as a wide range of walking and hiking trails for any level of expertise. Take a slow amble on a leafy path through O'Leno State Park, climb the stairs down into the Devil's Milhopper sinkhole, tube down the Ichetucknee River, or even bike through the San Felasco Hammock.

"A truly wonderful and positive experience on many, many levels. Richard (yoga) and Bob (artist) are everything you would want in an instructor and teacher. Highly educated and proficient in their field, excellent communicators, patient and encouraging. The kindness, friendliness, and easy-going-ness of Bob, Richard, Monica, and the entire family, the Casa staff and the Boca townspeople as well as the beautiful location, fun excursions and excellent, superb food made for an incredible workshop vacation. A 10+++. Trust me, the Casa is an all around wonderful experience!"

"Magical! I loved, loved, loved the morning music and yoga with Richard and this was my first experience with a true artist in an instructional manner. I felt it was clear and given (taught) in a loving manner with lots of information to take away. A beautiful, unusual, new experience, the best host family, and awesome food. A definite must!"

"Bob and Monica, thank you for a wonderful week of first class instruction in art and yoga. I was impressed from the time I arrived at Casa de los Artistas; incredible views, warm, and inviting accommodations, amazing companions, food made with love, every day was a moving experience. I had little art experience when I arrived but with Bob's teaching and expertise I grew to see and appreciate art everywhere. Every day was unique and inspiring - plain air at the botanical gardens, cultural exposure, live music, vegetarian cooking demo, I even snorkeled for the first time! You have perfected the art of the winter escapade, I returned home dreaming about my return. A most amazing adventure! It is such a pleasure to write a short review about my experience at the Casa, I tell you it was one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had. You guys rock!"

"I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to spend a week at the Casa with Bob and Monica, the consummate hosts. I am so grateful that I was able to experience such a diverse, enriching, fun, and most unforgettable vacation! I hope to return again some day in the future. If you are reading this review and trying to make up your mind about a trip to the Casa, I can assure you, the experience is well worth it! I haven't come across anything that compares to the value of this vacation. Art instruction from a talented artist, yoga and meditation, a scenic setting off the beaten tourist trap, gourmet food, a personal guide to local highlights, comfortable and relaxing accommodations, fun commeraderie, airport transfers, a taste of living like the locals, and fabulous hosts. What else could you possible need? Do it!"

  • Review by Ricki A. from Jacksonville, Florida

"I'm a newcomer to Florida transplanted from California and did not expect that any place so wonderful and spiritual would even exist here but I was so delighted to have one of the best experiences of my life at the Retreat. Everything was amazing from the treatments to the delicious vegetarian food. Richard and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Richard even took me and another guest to these incredible springs one day. If you are looking for peace and serenity, this is the place. My only negative is that I had to share a bathroom. But other than that, it was pure perfection. Room Tip: If you don't want to share a bathroom, tell them when you book your reservation."

  • Review by Victoria M. from New York City, U.S.A.

" I can't review this as if it were some random b&b. This is a place to go if you're looking to heal your body and expand your soul. I've been to a lot of "health resorts," and some are fancier, but none is more inviting, caring, or effective than this one. I plan to return every year. On the more mundane level, my room was quiet and private and I love the beautiful brown bathrobe provided. I had a shared-bath room (shower -- some other rooms have a tub) and it was fine -- super clean every day. The meals were extraordinary and such fun to share with fellow travelers -- both travelers to Florida and travelers on the spiritual path. The people on staff are infinitely accommodating and the only thing that would have made this stay better would have been to double its length."

You will emerge ready to face the challenges of today's world."

Each segment of the treatment model matched my needs and exceeded in it's outcome. I found deep peace. The challenges given to me by the therapists/instructors were accompanied with real hands on tools to compliment my natural gifts and blended into success. • Review by a traveler from Rosemary Beach, Florida, USA

"I discovered this amazing place of healing at a time in my life when I could not have needed it more. I was stressed, depressed, emotionally exhausted, mentally drained and on the verge of giving up.What I received from my 8 day stay was exactly what I needed... although in a completely different way that I had imagined. I was introduced to meditation, yoga, a delicious healthier diet, treatments that were soothing and healing for body, mind and spirit, and given time to reflect in an environment that was restful, loving, inclusive, spiritually inviting and inclusive. The familial environment created by the amazing staff was totally unexpected but absolutely wonderful. The other retreat members, all there for different reasons, added to the experience with each and every one leaving with the others contact information.Richard has created something so special and my introduction to Ayurveda left me with a better understanding of self. Even thought my visit was shortly before the yearend holidays, I came home and incorporated many of the practices into my daily life. Meditation is now a daily practice returning benefits far beyond any I could have imagined. I've altered my diet dramatically, feel better, have lost weight and enjoy meals more than ever. My introduction to yoga while at the retreat and the immediate benefits I realized from it gave me reason to seek out classes at home and the confidence to start on a new path of physical improvement.Thank you Richard and all of the amazing staff, Eka & Ruben for the delicious meals, Melba and Sunflower for sharing your energy through the amazing panchakarma treatments, Jose for making my stay so comfortable and those wonderful morning meditation and yoga sessions to start the day, Richard and Katherine for your insights and suggestions, and to the rest of the Retreat family for all that you do.Melba... a very special thanks to you for your guided mediation during the Shirodhara; you are an amazing healer. In conclusion... I could not give this place a higher rating. While I'm still recovering from my personal challenges, The Ayurveda Health Retreat gave me a new set of tools to help me with that process and I'm already planning my next visit."

"This was my 4th visit to the Retreat Center and I will continue to come back each year. I do an annual Panchakarma detox but the center is very flexible and you can mix and match experiences to create everything from a little R&R to full cleansing and spiritual deepening. Each day you are surrounded by professional, supportive, wholehearted people who feed you scrumptious healthy food, put flowers in your room and offer tools for balance, mindfulness and good health. There are usually 3-6 other guests at the center - I always meet amazing people there and enjoy their company as well as that of the staff. I can't recommend it highly enough!! Thank you AHR!!"

"As a holistic health professional, I value the importance of nourishment on all levels and this retreat enriched me in every way: amazing food (I swear I could taste the care imbued in it!), outstanding bodywork, restorative yoga, Ayurvedic consults to bring it all into balance, and cooking classes as a take-home gift of this little slice of heaven. Behind each one of these pieces, was the genuine warmth and care that each one of the staff brought to their personal service. My previous work with a luxury hotel for 15 years tells me that you can't train this type of service -it comes from authentic heart-centered people. This is a 5-star retreat at the most affordable price you'll find for the experience!"

"I had one of the most enjoyable weeks of my life. The classes, yoga, meditations, and treatments, everything was great. I learned a lot about the Ayurveda medicine, and also about the yogini world. Katherine and Richard are great teachers. The yoga and the pranayamas were very relaxing but powerful. The Panchakarma treatment is really rejuvenating. The food is sensational but the most memorable of this place are the people, the wisdom that each one has.
