The ancient Ayurveda healing practice of panchakarma is a unique experience that leaves the body and mind relaxed and rejuvenated. Many illnesses result from the build-up of toxins that can impair the body’s natural defenses through the lymph, circulatory, and immune systems. Panchakarma promotes healing and restoration by eliminating these toxins from the body. However, unlike other detoxification programs, panchakarma is a gentle process that achieves deep cleansing without discomfort, allowing the rejuvenating energies of the body to flow freely.

Benefits of panchakarma

  • It removes root cause of illness.
  • Eliminates toxins both physical and mental.
  • It restores constitutional balance, improving health and promoting an overall sense of well being
  • Improves the immune system.
  • It reverses the negative effects of stress and pollution.
  • It promotes rejuvenation on the cellular level.
  • Increases longevity of life.
  • It enhances energy, vitality and mental clarity.
  • It brings about deep relaxation and stress reduction.
  • It brings about clarity and spiritual insight.

The Science of panchakarma

A study at Colorado University showed that panchakarma reduced accumulated toxins in the body by 50 percent. "This is the first published study on humans to demonstrate that a specific detoxification regimen can significantly reduce levels of lipophilic toxicants in the blood that are known to be associated with disease," says Robert Herron, Ph.D., lead author of the study and Director of Research at the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy. He also specifies that "our findings were quite striking, given that the half-lives of these toxicants are all several years in duration, and that this Panchakarma detoxification procedure removed them in just a few days."

Ayurvedic oils

All of the massage oils are made according to ancient recipes. They are ordered from an Ayurvedic pharmacy in India where the wild-crafted herbal infusions are added to oil, bringing forth its medicinal properties. The subtle qualities of the herbs are transferred through the massage to bring balance and healing.

Ayurvedic consultation

You will receive an Ayurvedic health consultation with one of the Ayurvedic practitioners to discover your constitutional nature (prakruti) and the current balance of your doshas (vikruti). You may be recommended herbal supplements and a diet for the restoration of health. Follow ups exams with the Ayurvedic practitioner will be scheduled every 2-3 days.

Components of your Panchakarma

  • A full Panchakarma treatment lasts 2.5 hours daily and it consists of:
  • Massage Abhyanga - enjoy the amazing effects of a massage with medicated herbal oils. The traditional Abhyanga treatment includes two therapists giving you a four handed synchronized massage. This special therapeutic massage detoxifies and rejuvenates the body, improves circulation, strengthens the immune system and enhances the complexion of the skin. Above all, it leaves you with a general sense of well-being.
  • Nasya - nasal therapy. During this therapy, several drops of medicated oil are administered into each nostril. This opens and cleanses your nasal and sinus passages, enhancing the flow of oxygen to the brain. It may relieve allergy and sinus conditions and improve your memory.
  • Swedhana (Aromatherapy steam). After your massage, relax your mind and body enveloped in a soothing steam bath. Swedhana improves peripheral circulation and this treatment allows the Ayurvedic oils to penetrate deeper into the tissue, enhancing the detoxification process. It strengthens the immune system and moisturizes your skin, making it soft and smooth.
  • Shirodhara. During this relaxing therapy, a continuous stream of warm Ayurvedic oil flows over your forehead. Shirodhara is used to heal chronic neuromuscular disorders and vata imbalances: hypertension, insomnia, depression, anxiety, headaches, and restlessness. It can have a powerful spiritual effect on the mental and emotional wellbeing of the individual.
  • Bhasti are herbal and oil therapeutic enemas. They are recommended for patients that do five to 21 days of Panchakarma. Bhasti treatments are effective in detoxifying the system of ama (toxins). The Bhasti restores the balance to the 3 doshas, especially vata. Regular administration of Bhasti improves vision, slows down the aging process, adds strength and supports longevity. Bhastis can relieve constipation, backache, sciatica, and joint pain.

During your Panchakarma retreat, it is recommended that you rest as much as possible, meditate upon rising, after treatments, and in the evening, turn your eating into a meditation, practice yoga and deep breathing, be silent and listen to your inner wisdom, be open to the energy of nature, practice being in the moment, become the witness to your mind’s activity, keep balanced and avoid extremes, create a space for yourself with nothing to do, ask yourself, “What nourishes me? What do I want?” and allow memories and the emotional response to them to arise gently.

"A truly wonderful and positive experience on many, many levels. Richard (yoga) and Bob (artist) are everything you would want in an instructor and teacher. Highly educated and proficient in their field, excellent communicators, patient and encouraging. The kindness, friendliness, and easy-going-ness of Bob, Richard, Monica, and the entire family, the Casa staff and the Boca townspeople as well as the beautiful location, fun excursions and excellent, superb food made for an incredible workshop vacation. A 10+++. Trust me, the Casa is an all around wonderful experience!"

"Magical! I loved, loved, loved the morning music and yoga with Richard and this was my first experience with a true artist in an instructional manner. I felt it was clear and given (taught) in a loving manner with lots of information to take away. A beautiful, unusual, new experience, the best host family, and awesome food. A definite must!"

"Bob and Monica, thank you for a wonderful week of first class instruction in art and yoga. I was impressed from the time I arrived at Casa de los Artistas; incredible views, warm, and inviting accommodations, amazing companions, food made with love, every day was a moving experience. I had little art experience when I arrived but with Bob's teaching and expertise I grew to see and appreciate art everywhere. Every day was unique and inspiring - plain air at the botanical gardens, cultural exposure, live music, vegetarian cooking demo, I even snorkeled for the first time! You have perfected the art of the winter escapade, I returned home dreaming about my return. A most amazing adventure! It is such a pleasure to write a short review about my experience at the Casa, I tell you it was one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had. You guys rock!"

"I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to spend a week at the Casa with Bob and Monica, the consummate hosts. I am so grateful that I was able to experience such a diverse, enriching, fun, and most unforgettable vacation! I hope to return again some day in the future. If you are reading this review and trying to make up your mind about a trip to the Casa, I can assure you, the experience is well worth it! I haven't come across anything that compares to the value of this vacation. Art instruction from a talented artist, yoga and meditation, a scenic setting off the beaten tourist trap, gourmet food, a personal guide to local highlights, comfortable and relaxing accommodations, fun commeraderie, airport transfers, a taste of living like the locals, and fabulous hosts. What else could you possible need? Do it!"

"I'm a newcomer to Florida transplanted from California and did not expect that any place so wonderful and spiritual would even exist here but I was so delighted to have one of the best experiences of my life at the Retreat. Everything was amazing from the treatments to the delicious vegetarian food. Richard and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Richard even took me and another guest to these incredible springs one day. If you are looking for peace and serenity, this is the place. My only negative is that I had to share a bathroom. But other than that, it was pure perfection. Room Tip: If you don't want to share a bathroom, tell them when you book your reservation."

" I can't review this as if it were some random b&b. This is a place to go if you're looking to heal your body and expand your soul. I've been to a lot of "health resorts," and some are fancier, but none is more inviting, caring, or effective than this one. I plan to return every year. On the more mundane level, my room was quiet and private and I love the beautiful brown bathrobe provided. I had a shared-bath room (shower -- some other rooms have a tub) and it was fine -- super clean every day. The meals were extraordinary and such fun to share with fellow travelers -- both travelers to Florida and travelers on the spiritual path. The people on staff are infinitely accommodating and the only thing that would have made this stay better would have been to double its length."

"I discovered this amazing place of healing at a time in my life when I could not have needed it more. I was stressed, depressed, emotionally exhausted, mentally drained and on the verge of giving up.What I received from my 8 day stay was exactly what I needed... although in a completely different way that I had imagined. I was introduced to meditation, yoga, a delicious healthier diet, treatments that were soothing and healing for body, mind and spirit, and given time to reflect in an environment that was restful, loving, inclusive, spiritually inviting and inclusive. The familial environment created by the amazing staff was totally unexpected but absolutely wonderful. The other retreat members, all there for different reasons, added to the experience with each and every one leaving with the others contact information.Richard has created something so special and my introduction to Ayurveda left me with a better understanding of self. Even thought my visit was shortly before the yearend holidays, I came home and incorporated many of the practices into my daily life. Meditation is now a daily practice returning benefits far beyond any I could have imagined. I've altered my diet dramatically, feel better, have lost weight and enjoy meals more than ever. My introduction to yoga while at the retreat and the immediate benefits I realized from it gave me reason to seek out classes at home and the confidence to start on a new path of physical improvement.Thank you Richard and all of the amazing staff, Eka & Ruben for the delicious meals, Melba and Sunflower for sharing your energy through the amazing panchakarma treatments, Jose for making my stay so comfortable and those wonderful morning meditation and yoga sessions to start the day, Richard and Katherine for your insights and suggestions, and to the rest of the Retreat family for all that you do.Melba... a very special thanks to you for your guided mediation during the Shirodhara; you are an amazing healer. In conclusion... I could not give this place a higher rating. While I'm still recovering from my personal challenges, The Ayurveda Health Retreat gave me a new set of tools to help me with that process and I'm already planning my next visit."

I would refer any of my friends to this cozy retreat and the sweet spirit that resides within this facility. Thank you again for all the love and encouragement that you have given me and I look forward to my next visit."

"This was my 4th visit to the Retreat Center and I will continue to come back each year. I do an annual Panchakarma detox but the center is very flexible and you can mix and match experiences to create everything from a little R&R to full cleansing and spiritual deepening. Each day you are surrounded by professional, supportive, wholehearted people who feed you scrumptious healthy food, put flowers in your room and offer tools for balance, mindfulness and good health. There are usually 3-6 other guests at the center - I always meet amazing people there and enjoy their company as well as that of the staff. I can't recommend it highly enough!! Thank you AHR!!"

"Visiting the Ayurveda Health Retreat was one of the best decisions I've made for my health & well-being. I am a healthy, spiritual person but have an active, busy lifestyle. I was searching to find an environment that followed Ayurvedic principles, as well as combining the entire spiritual & wellness experience. After extensive research, I discovered this Ayurvedic Retreat in Florida and the wonderful people that are a part of its community.I was so pleased with the integrated services all on-site - health consultation, daily yoga, meditation, cleansing treatments, massage, steams and the most delicious variety of vegetarian meals, and private rooms. The treatments helped to rejuvenate and refresh my body and mind. I will continue to visit this centre for the five day retreat, and have referred many friends & loved ones!Very special thank you to Richard Masla, Katherine, Jose, Ruchi, Eka, Melba, Sunflower and Vimla."

"As a holistic health professional, I value the importance of nourishment on all levels and this retreat enriched me in every way: amazing food (I swear I could taste the care imbued in it!), outstanding bodywork, restorative yoga, Ayurvedic consults to bring it all into balance, and cooking classes as a take-home gift of this little slice of heaven. Behind each one of these pieces, was the genuine warmth and care that each one of the staff brought to their personal service. My previous work with a luxury hotel for 15 years tells me that you can't train this type of service -it comes from authentic heart-centered people. This is a 5-star retreat at the most affordable price you'll find for the experience!"

"I visited the retreat because I wanted to have a spiritual experience during the holidays. I have to say that the house where I stayed made me feel home. Cozy. Loving people that made sure that my experience was one of a kind. I felt Love above all. I highly recommend it to each and everyone that wants to go deep in their spiritual journey through yoga practice, amazing homemade meals , treatments , chanting, swimming in the nearby springs, visiting the temple. The energy in the Ayurveda. Health retreat house is very powerful, positive and healing. I will go back for sure as soon as I can!!!"

"Excellent service, staff and environment. I'm looking forward to another getaway next year. If thinking about it, my advice would be to just do it! You won't regret your decision, and once your retreat is over, I promise you'll be begging to go back."

"I had one of the most enjoyable weeks of my life. The classes, yoga, meditations, and treatments, everything was great. I learned a lot about the Ayurveda medicine, and also about the yogini world. Katherine and Richard are great teachers. The yoga and the pranayamas were very relaxing but powerful. The Panchakarma treatment is really rejuvenating. The food is sensational but the most memorable of this place are the people, the wisdom that each one has. All staffs are very friendly, they make you feel at home. It's so much love and enlightenment, that the energy transforms you." website, edited

"My tracer unit results were the best ever-perfect-in the nearly 9 years I have been tested. Thanks in great part to Pancha Karma, meditation, healthy diet, yoga etc. This time was optimum, even with the challenge of detoxing through the holiday season. Dont want to forget the benefits of Reiki healing and other massage/bodywork techniques and acupuncture with limited gentle chiropractic added. We are Source energy after all! Thanks again, Namaste."

"It was the most peaceful, relaxing and unique experience and time for me. Not to mention the most needed. The most satisfying part of my visit was the peace, relaxation and learning experience of meditation, yoga and it all was special and unique in its own way."
