During this retreat, enjoy an in-depth practice of yoga, yoga philosophy and spirituality. In which, the focus will not only be on various asanas but on advancing on the path of yoga. With the focus on oneself, on balance and on the gentle use of one's muscles, combining it with various aspects of slow and focused Hatha yoga, which include breathing, relaxation, and meditation. At the end of the retreat you will have been exposed to the spirit of yoga and deepened your practice.

Friday

  • Arrival after 1 p.m. and installation in your rooms, enjoy the afternoon to explore the picturesque village of Varages or relax in the peaceful garden of your retreat home La Maison du Faiencier
  • 17:00 - 18:30 Yoga and meditation session (a gentle yoga session to bring the mind and body into equilibrium
  • 19:00 Vegan dinner (enjoy a delicious meal with local products)

Saturday

07:00 - 08:30 Yoga and meditation (a morning yoga class to awaken the body and mind and prepare for the day ahead)

09:00 - 11:00 Enjoy a delicious vegan breakfast

15:00 - 16:30 Yoga and meditation (an energizing practice to prepare for the cooking class ahead)

17:00 - 19:00 Raw vegan cooking class with fresh ingredients and practicing mindfulness, kindness, and ahimsa (non-violence), one of the yamas of yoga, awareness, and mindfulness: the love we place into the preparation is the love which nourishes us

  • 20:00 onwards Dinner savoring the delicious concoctions of this afternoon's cooking class

Claudia offers hatha yoga with influences of Iyengar yoga elements, mindful meditation, pranayama, Yin yoga and meditation. Practicing yoga for more than 20 years and after having been exposed to various forms of yoga throughout her journey she focuses on the concentrated art of internalizing yoga, with its focus on oneself, on balance and on the gentle use of one's body and mind, combining various aspects of spirituality and the lightness of being

Retreat location

You will be staying at the luxurious, spacious La Maison du Faiencier, a friend's charming village house in Varages in Provence.

Varages is a small village with some colorful old houses, some nice hidden squares and small 19th-century canals running through the center. There are a few shops around the open central square, some lovely old plane trees and narrow streets to be explored. Varages was a center of faïence pottery in the 19th century. Today there are several faience pottery workshops, with a shared earthenware factory and a sales shop open 7/7. There's also a Museum of Faïences de Varages in the center of the village.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please note that we have three international airports close by Marseille Provence Airport (MRS), Toulon–Hyères Airport (TLN), and Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport (NCE). They are between one hour to one and a half hours drive from Varages.

Arrival by train

The TGV and Eurostar go to Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, and the TGV also stops in Les Arcs.

Arrival by car

We highly recommend you have a car during your stay here. All the standard car hire companies can be found at Marseille Provence Airport (MRS) and Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport (NCE). For those traveling by one of the low-cost carriers, good deals can often be arranged through the flight company.

  • Directions by car from the A8 motorway (the link road between Aix and Nice):
  • Take the A8 to the exit St Maximin-la-Ste-Baume turning (junction 34). You’re about 20 minutes from the house from here.
  • Soon after passing through the péage (toll stop) take a right towards the town of St Maximin and follow the signs to Barjols.
  • At the first roundabout, take the second exit signposted to Aix / Trets / Rians.
  • At the second roundabout, take the second exit signposted Aix / Barjols.
  • At the next roundabout, take the second exit signposted D560 to Seillons, Barjols, and Brue-Auriac.
  • Arriving in the village of Brue-Auriac carry on through the center until you see a left fork, (there is also a bar on the left at this junction) signposted D35 to Varages.
  • This road winds its way up to the village.
  • On climbing the steep hill on the outskirts of Varages you arrive at a T-junction with the D561.
  • Turn right towards Manosque / Draguignan.
  • The main place / square is on the left just after the traffic lights. Park where you can on the square.
  • La Maison du Faiencier is on the left side of the square, a brick-colored house.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 10 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 10 days before arrival.
