This Sacred Earth Yoga Teacher Training takes place at the stunning Bambu Guest House, a brand new, eco-friendly building designed in accordance with sustainable principles, proving that natural building can be luxurious.
Wake up here to an awe inspiring sunrise over Lake Atitlán, as the sleepy Mayan village below comes to life. Enjoy the natural vegetation and lush surrounds from the yoga platform before nourishing your body with local, organic, vegetarian fare prepared with produce from the Atitlán Organics farm (a five-minute stroll away). The farm-to-table restaurant is run by three young, local, aspiring chefs named Antonio, Maricela, and Petrona who are as amazing as they are passionate about what they create and we love being guests at their dinner table!
With several accommodation options each equipped with a bathroom, balcony, comfy beds, super hot water, wifi, and amazing views of Lake Atitlán, it’s easy to settle into this dreamy landscape. Access to the lake is a 10-minute walk from Bambu, and the neighboring town and eclectic travel hub of San Marcos is a five-minute boat ride from there or 15-minute tuk-tuk (rickshaw).
Students who successfully complete their training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Awakened Spirit Yoga believe that the intelligence of nature can inform our lives in ways that allow us to thrive, as individuals and as a collective, and the collective of Awakened Spirit is founded on this belief. Permaculture awakens us to the patterns of nature that we can learn from to expand, shift, collaborate and grow. The ancient practice of yoga provides a framework for embodying our learning and enhancing awareness of our true nature. The two practices result in a powerful, sustainable approach to thriving in the world.
Day trips to Mayan regenerative communities, local permaculture organizations, and organic farms are included.
Quixaya Day Trip: Quixaya, an intentional permaculture community in Guatemala, was established by indigenous Mayans on a spacious plot of land. With a population of over 1200 people, this thriving 400-acre community revolves around a pristine river. During a day trip starting with a private boat ride on Lake Atitlan, participants can immerse themselves in Guatemalan culture, discover the community, swim, and savor a farm-to-table lunch.

In Tz'utujil (one of the local Mayan dialects) there is no word which equates to ‘leaving’ – that is to say, visitors to Lake Atitlán are always returning home and we certainly feel that way each time they are greeted by the warm eyes and kind hearts of this community.
With a rich, colorful and resilient history woven into the tapestry of everyday life (not to mention the amazing tapestries of daily dress) the Awakened Spirit Yoga team is honored to be welcomed into the village of Tzununá to share four weeks together, living respectfully among this community, the local traditions, and wisdom kept here. The lake herself is the subject of much folklore with alluring blue waters and mystical origins, calling many to the healing shores of this ancient volcanic crater.
