"Your dwelling of peace"

Zman Midbar is an ecological and spiritual center where the visitor is enabled to have a different kind of recreation. In "your dwelling of peace"’, you will experience relaxation and unique tranquility. The site is built for peaceful gatherings and spiritual work. They use solar and wind power, recycle the water they use, care for mother earth, and honor the desert.

The Tea House

The Tea House has views of the Dead Sea and the mountains of Edom and Moav. From the outside, the Tea House resembles a tent, and the inside is warm and inviting. In winter, they warm it up. This is the hospitality area for guests. Relaxing seating is arranged around tables in the Tea House and on the porch, where desert-style tea and coffee, and tasty vegetarian meals are served.

Comfortable mattresses are provided for overnight visitors. Desert entertainment such as storytelling, singing, and music playing is presented for guests.

The temple

The temple is given as an idea for Efrat Sar-Shalom from Yeshua the Nazarene. It was built for "A Course of Miracles" studies, and for "The One studying of Love" and "The One study of Yeshua". This unique structure, made from compressed earth, is the first of its kind in Israel. The building has 18 sides and a round opening to the sky. Every side has a window with a desert view. The building’s structure and isolation enable deep work to be done.

Acoustics are excellent and the strong positive energy flowing through the building makes it an ideal center for conventions, workshops, and musical performances. Mahmud Zayad from Arad is the project architect. The builders are Amit Ben Shahar and Ofer Egozi of Bet Adama.

The well nearby is hundreds of years old. There are many wells in the surrounding area, and three of them can be seen in the immediate vicinity. The artist Dorit Drori arranged a spiral of rocks around the well. The spiral is a symbol of spiritual growth, reminding you of the continuation of life and the gathering together of humanity. Everything returns to its origin. Visitors loved the spiral so they left it as is.

Restore your mind with sunrise meditation and expand your physical horizons as you float effortlessly in the pristine waters of the Dead Sea. Unleash the deep healing powers of weightlessness through a set of unique floating techniques that can only be practiced here!

Harness the healing and liquid zero gravity properties of the Dead Sea water, and immersed in the non-stimulant stillness of the sacred majestic Judean desert. Avayasana is the name given to a prolonged continuous uninterrupted deep state of relaxation that is being achieved by pure natural immersion in the silence and stillness of the desert with the deep floating experience.

The deep floating experience is a collage/ fusion of techniques based on the natural phenomena of weightlessness and anti-gravity which is created by floating in the dead sea. Integrating esoteric techniques, pranayama, meditation, psycho-acoustics, and watsu.

  • With floating lowers the brainwave activity and creates a continued theta brain wave activity.
  • Theta brain wave activity is associated with a deep state of meditation.

In theta, your senses are withdrawn from the external world and focused on signals originating from within (The fifth limb of yoga - pratyahara). In theta, you are in a dream; vivid imagery, intuition, and information beyond your normal conscious awareness.

You will begin the day with early morning yoga and meditation. With over 20 years of experience, Saul designs each class according to your level. A nutritious breakfast follows, energizing you for a day of hiking or exploring the area. Afternoons are set aside to experience the powerful healing qualities of the Dead Sea.

Allow the mineral-rich mud to rejuvenate your skin and receive the therapeutic benefits of floating yoga. Return to the villa for an evening session of yoga, followed by a nourishing, authentic Bedouin meal. Join Saul for a star-gazing walk through the desert (optional) before retiring to your comfortable bed to rest and restore.

At Avayasana Retreat, you’ll rest in comfortable accommodations surrounded by the spectacular Judean desert which has attracted dreamers and revolutionaries for thousands of years.
