We invite you to join us on your journey through pregnancy for this long weekend retreat, a unique opportunity for expectant mothers and couples/women wishing to become pregnant. Enjoy returning to nature, waking up to birdsong and abundant stillness, while developing useful techniques and knowledge for enhancing the pregnancy and birthing process. This program has been intentionally designed for women, couples, and friends, seeking community sharing, support, and revitalization.
There are several types of accommodation offered at Asturias Yoga. We offer accommodation in two traditionally restored, charming mountain cabins on site, with private and shared room options. Both are situated above a small mountain meadow and chestnut forest, with great views overlooking unspoiled mountains.
It has a kitchen, a bathroom, and a stone built fireplace with supplied firewood. It accommodates up to four people, in either private or double rooms. The cabin is usually offered on a shared basis, although if available, it can also be reserved for private usage.
You can also choose our glamping option in a four-meter bell tent on a spectacular mountain ridge with views of the Picos de Europa and the Gueña valley. The tents come with comfortable mattresses and bedding. If you are after a little luxury, Asturias Yoga can arrange accommodation at the Casona de Con, a boutique rural hotel seven kilometers away from the shala.
Beginning each day with gentle yoga and pranayama, you will experience a safe and time-tested approach for deepening relaxation, remaining strong and flexible while pregnant, and also easing the delivery process. Our guest presenter who is a certified and highly experienced midwife will be on hand throughout the retreat to answer personal questions and offer encouragement and inspiration. Participants will also receive a breadth of information on the use of plant medicines, which can be appropriate during the pregnancy, in the actual birth itself and also postpartum.
Herbal medicine can offer a gentle aid to common issues such as morning nausea, heartburn, hemorrhoids, constipation, and other conditions. As well, they may be used as a nutritional supplement before and after birth due to their abundance of vital nutrients important in proper muscle tone, blood composition, and hormonal activities.
During this retreat, you will benefit from workshops given by a registered U.K midwife on antenatal and postnatal care in a friendly, community environment. The program begins on the first day with a prenatal yoga class at 9:30 a.m. followed by brunch. It is recommended to have a light snack before arrival. The program ends on the last day after lunch, around 3 p.m.
Alyson Simeone (1990, Washington) Alyson teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa through the framework of bringing breath and movement into union. Her classes facilitate the somatic experience of grace, a state of harmony within the body-mind complex. Before Ashtanga, Alyson studied extensively classical piano and ballet, performing in both for over a decade. She received her Bachelor´s degree in Ayurvedic Medicine. Since then, her work has been devoted to the self practice and teaching of the eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga.
Ása graduated in 2012 with a degree in herbal medicine, and since then has had a particular interest in female health during pregnancy and birth. She was very inspired by the effect it had on her own pregnancies, birth, and also the aftercare of baby and mother. She works closely with a support group of homebirth in Asturias (Dar a luz en casa Asturias) giving workshops and talks. Ása says that her aim is to offer alternative practical advice to inspire the use of safe and common medicinal plants during the most transformational time in a woman's life.
Fay Lodge RM, NMP, BMidwifery, MSc I started my training to become a midwife at Manchester University in 2007 and quickly found my passion was for promoting and enabling normality during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. I fully believe that by empowering women to trust in themselves and their bodies’capabilities, they can achieve a fulfilling birth experience that is more likely to follow a natural course without the need for medical intervention.I believe through the use of antenatal education, preparation and empowerment women can enjoy this most most powerful and special time
This retreat will be held in Asturias, Spain. Known in Spanish as “paraiso natural”, Asturias comprises spectacular geographical features, Europe’s most diverse eco-system, and traditional culture. It is a land of high mountain peaks in juxtaposition with sandy ocean beaches and sea-cliffs; it is famous for verdant mountain forests, green valleys and renowned cave-aged cheeses.
The exact location of the retreat will be on the lower slopes of the Picos de Europa Mountains, not so far from the ocean, in a quiet chestnut, hazel and oak forest. There is a vegetable garden and a young orchard with five bee hives.

During this retreat, Asturias Yoga will cater to the needs of a pregnant woman, providing protein-rich, restorative meals with plenty of snacks and beverages provided throughout the day. Our food is all vegetarian, organic, and procured from either the garden or the most local sources possible.
Thai massage, holistic massage, foot massage and herbal facials can be arranged by appointment.
