You will be staying in a beautiful private coastal New Zealand home in Piha, a laid-back seaside village 45 minutes west of Auckland city. Wake up to a stunning view of Piha’s famous Lion Rock and its beautiful black sand beaches. At night, enjoy a warm cuppa on the large sea-facing deck looking out to the magnificent sunset over the Tasman, and the crystalline views of the extraordinarily bright Southern night sky full of stars.
This comfortable modern home sleeps 9 with shared and private room options. There is a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare your meals either individually or together (shared meals are always more fun!). Linen and towels are supplied with laundry facilities. Unlimited wifi included.

This 200-hour New Zealand yoga teacher training is a comprehensive course that will cover a range of topics as required by Yoga Alliance certification which includes yoga philosophy and history, asanas, and different styles of yoga (Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin), sequencing, Kriyas, kirtan, pranayama, meditation, and incorporating yoga into your daily life.
The first week will be an immersion into Hatha asana, pranayama, and kriyas. The second week is about experiencing Vinyasa Flows based around Surya Namaskar (Sun Salute) A and B. You will have Restorative classes and Yin classes in the afternoons during the training as well. All this will give you a broad base to teach from.
The daily schedule is flexible as it will vary from day to day depending on the needs and focus of the students but this will be typically how your day will be. The course starts at 3 p.m. on the first day and finishes midday on the last day.
Piha is its own destination. Beach walks, bush walks, waterfalls and other very private beaches to visit on your days off. There is a local store with its entertaining owner, and a great little art gallery where talented local artists show their creations.
Steve has more than 20 years of yoga experience and has been involved with yoga teacher trainings for 7 years. He has taught over 12,000 hours of classes and has the highest Yoga Alliance E-RYT500 classification, as well as being a 200 hour Yoga Alliance trained Kundalini Yoga Teacher, and an Aerial Yoga Teacher. Steve has had the benefit of studying and practicing with various teachers around the world of many yoga traditions including Ashtanga Vinyasa, Iyengar, Yin, Hatha, and Power Yoga. He has a relaxed but thorough style of teaching and a passion for Yoga Anatomy and Philosophy.
Joleen has been practicing yoga since 2009 and completed her Yoga Alliance Accredited RYT-200 YTT and a month’s Parampara (Ashtanga apprenticeship) in Bali. She currently teaches Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga (Led and Mysore style), Restorative, and Yin Yoga. Joleen is a passionate yoga teacher, dedicated to encouraging and inspiring people to be the best they can be through movement, breath, wellness, diet, and a holistic approach to life. She enjoys seeing her students progress physically, mentally, and emotionally as they journey with her.
Piha is one of New Zealand's most famous surf beach and is popular with local kiwis, especially in the summertime. The dramatic black sand beach, which is marked at each end by rugged cliffs, is also the location for the TV show "Piha Rescue."
Piha is not only a world-renowned surf beach but is surrounded by lush native rain forest with much stunning bush walks and a large waterfall.
The Piha village is a short ten minute flat walk away and has a general Piha Store where you can buy basic necessities, a cafe, library, post office, art gallery, bowling club bar and restaurant, tennis courts, surf shop, RSA bar and restaurant, as well as the Piha Surf club bar and restaurant.
There are several surf schools operate in Piha, and surfboards can be hired from either the Piha surf shop or Lion rock board shop. Lifeguards work throughout the summer months with safe flagged swimming areas marked on the beaches.

This New Zealand Yoga Teacher Training is a vegetarian self-catering experience, so each student will buy and prepare their meals, this gives maximum dietary possibilities and is a fun way to see what other people eat. We provide accommodation and tuition and students buy and cook for themselves or collectively.
Meals are a fun and educational communal time together. We will make regular shopping trips to the supermarket 30 minutes away as needed. Typically students budget around 100-130 USD for the 3 weeks.
There is also a small store, a cafe and a restaurant a short walking distance away from the yoga house if students want some variety.
Piha is New Zealand's most famous surf beach so great news if you love to surf! If you don't, you could always walk along the soft black sand beach as you watch surfers catch the waves. There are several waterfalls and walks through native forest in the surrounding hills.

Auckland International Airport is an hour drive from Piha. We are happy to pick you up at the airport for a fee or you can arrange for an independent shuttle to Piha.
