Every morning and afternoon, you will attend a Zazen meditation before the yoga class starts. The Mysore style teaching allows to work with each student individually and to give personal assistance and guidance for beginners and advanced students alike.
Ashtanga yoga is an effective system to grow the physical, mental, and spiritual level, which enables you to achieve more strength and flexibility. The system of Ashtanga yoga was founded by Sri K. Patthabi Jois, and passed on to him by his teacher T. Krishnamacharya. The system consists of three sequences or series.
The primary series (Yoga Chikitsa) detoxifies and aligns the body. The intermediate series (Nadi Shodana) purifies the nervous system by means of opening and releasing the energy channels. The advanced series A, B, C, and D (Shtira Baga) integrate the strength and grace of the practice, requiring higher physical levels of flexibility and strength.
The breath is continuously and deep during the whole practice. Even breathing cannot be overemphasized in the Ashtanga yoga system. When breath feeds into action, and action improves posture, each movement becomes gentle, precise, and perfectly steady.
Below is the schedule for this retreat. One afternoon is free and you can go and explore the island. Fridays are arrival and departure days. There will be no class on arrival day.
Andrea Lutz has been actively engaged in the different traditions of yoga since 1986. Following many years of studying Shivananda and Iyengar yoga, her first contact with Ashtanga yoga was in 1997. Since then, her fascination and involvement with this unique form of yoga has steadily increased. She has been a yoga teacher since 1995. In 2000, her focus in practice and teaching shifted completely to traditional Ashtanga yoga. In May 2005, she opened the Ashtanga Studio Berlin. She is teaching daily classes in Berlin, as well as workshops, teacher trainings, and retreats all over Europe.
This retreat will take place at the guesthouse situated on a cliff above the beach of Triopetra. Triopetra is a little paradise with white sandy beaches and mountain blue water of the Lybian Sea. The surroundings are stunning and invite you to rest and swim between the yoga classes.
You will be served daily vegetarian brunch and dinner on the terrace overlooking the sea during your stay. The meals will be offered in a buffet style.
You will have the possibility to book a massage or an energy healing session with Nisira (Androniki) Louka during the retreat at an extra cost.
