You will need a car rental for this retreat located on the north shore side of Maui, Haiku Town. This retreat is ideal for anyone with an already established Ashtanga or Vinyasa yoga practice. Perfect, if you are new to yoga and would like to begin your personal practice towards improving your current condition and lifestyle. The retreat is perfect also for yoga and Ashtanga yoga teachers, healthcare providers and therapists for continuing education and personal development to your teaching and practice. You will have ample time to enjoy beautiful and relaxing Maui Hawaii, its points of interests, beaches for a swim, paddle board, surf, hikes, trails each day.
The lodging / accommodation is very basic, simple, and clean, nestled in the North Shore side of Haiku town. It will be on a first-come, first-served basis, if available. It is just what you need to disconnect and give yourself time off to restore. It’s nothing fancy, with single occupancy to each bedroom only.
You will stay in a complementary room in the teacher's shared guest home. Unfortunately, there are no resorts and hotels on the accommodation's side of Maui, and for all the good reasons. They like it natural and practice simple living on that side to keep the rich greens as their source of energy and life.
If you are looking for a hotel or resort feel, you may do so at extra expense towards Kahului, Wailea, and Kīhei area, but it will be a 30 to 45-minute drive (one way) to the shala.
Students staying at the guest housing will all be in charge of cleaning up after themselves and preparing their own meals and leisure time activities.
Experience simple island living that is clean, cozy, and restful in nature, on a tropical island living space. There is no air conditioning, but the place enjoys the trade winds, so natural breeze and ceiling fans keep guests in all rooms cool on warmer days.
The shared living space is co-ed, and there are no requirements to be vaccinated, nor are there COVID-19 testing requirements.
Everyone will be respected, responsible, and accountable for their own needs and welfare. The full kitchen has a stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, and dishwasher, and the bathroom has a simple tub. Free Wi-Fi, linens, bedsheets, and towels are all provided, as well as beach towels and beach chairs.
Please know that you will be a guest invited to stay at the teacher's guest house and it is a very simple, basic private room to enjoy your seven days on Maui, rest, and renew after your practice, studies, adventure, and exploration of the beautiful island.
The teacher's student guest home has three private bedrooms, a shared living room, a kitchen stocked with necessities to prepare your own meals, as well as a shared bathroom. Each student will share time in keeping the communal space clean and respectful toward the other students. There will be no outside visitors allowed during your stay there.
Please also know that accommodation is basic and simple, with minimal amenities. No housekeeping or room service will be offered within the seven days. There is a laundry and dryer on site for your use, and everyone will make their own meals. The space welcomes each individual's dietary preference.
The guest space has ceiling fans in all bedrooms, ample trade winds and breeze, and no air-conditioning. You will be encouraged to get outdoors and enjoy the tropical oasis of North Shore. Maui is known for its lush green tropical energy. Haiku does get rain depending on the season, which is perfect for cooling after a beautiful sunny day.
You will experience a tropical jungle feeling style and climate, yet with still sunny days for you to enjoy other areas of Maui, known for its microclimate demographic that is healing and energizing, as well as the many beaches that surround the house in minutes' drive.
Your host also reserves the right to dismiss anyone from the guest home and the shala for inappropriate behavior and non-compliance to the etiquette in place upon arrival and stay. Should this takes place, the guest will need to find other options for lodging, with no refund.
Eastern yoga philosophy teaches how to apply the practice of kindness, courtesy, and respect to support a better and healthier mindset as well as optimal physical and spiritual well-being. The tuition for this retreat is solely for the time of studies, practices, teachings, discussions, and mentorship.

This retreat is ideal for established Ashtanga yoga students or practitioners, a teacher looking to take time for themself and to continue their growth, progress, and gain more knowledge to develop a personal spiritual practice, or someone who is new and has no experience in Ashtanga yoga. It is a beautiful way to begin the practice of yoga.
It is not ideal for you if you have a preference to not sweat or move with dynamic energy. If you are uncomfortable practicing with unvaccinated practitioners, this retreat is not advisable for you either. The shala does not discriminate and accepts everyone at their own risk, and trusts the practice of yoga to be the medicine, the therapy, and the healer.

This self-care yoga retreat is for you to enjoy deeper studies of your Ashtanga yoga practice, grow, develop, advance, and find quiet time to rest, renew, and rejuvenate. The space is limited to a minimum of 0 students and a maximum of 10 students accepted to each session.

With the retreat nestled in the beautiful tropical rainforest side of Maui's North Shore, Haiku, you will need to rent a car. Public transportation is not sufficient for this retreat.
Each day begins with traditional Mysore practice arrive as early as sunrise on Monday thru Friday 05:30 or 06:00, Sunday is a Led Guided Primary / Intermediate Class at 07:00 Guided. You will engage in discussions that will be personalized to your need and growth on Monday and Tuesday 16:00 - 18:00 and Saturday and Sunday morning 07:00 - 10:30.
All practice session includes Theory of the teaching and traditions, philosophy of the ashtanga yoga therapy practice which also includes practicing Sanskrit chanting of the mantras, breath - pranayama practice of 4 purification breath work and Intro to Ayurveda lifestyle as the sister of ashtanga yoga.
Arrive on Thursday to settle and acclimate. On the next day will be a meet and greet, as well as consultation / assessment of your needs and intentions. Then, on the third day at 07:00, you will start the morning with a Led class with the shala community followed by breath, meditation, mantra chanting, discussion of philosophy and lifestyle, and a circle to get to know each other.
On the last day, you will practice only in the morning.
In between classes, you will have plenty of free time to enjoy a swim at the beautiful beaches of Maui, or enjoy a coffee / tea and prepare for your departure, taking relaxation and rejuvenation with you. Also enjoy free hours each day to explore Maui for your personal relaxation and rejuvenation.
Please note that the schedule is subject to change. Optional group activities such as a hike, visiting Hana or Hale Akala Volcano, massages, beach day, and spa day are all to be arranged by you. You'll have free hours of the retreat days and the weekend to explore Maui's beautiful beaches, nature hikes, and waterfalls.

Please note that you will be practicing living on an island with much respect for culture. The minimal amenities are appreciated every day, and living is not compared to the lifestyle on the mainland. Yoga is simple living, and eight limbs of yoga on Maui includes kindness, aloha, and accepting many things the way they are, as is.
Meals are not included in the price. The house has a kitchen stocked with necessities to prepare your own meals. The full kitchen has a stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, and dishwasher. The space welcomes each individual's dietary preference.

There will be no car share either for this retreat. You will need a car rental on Maui. Please rent a car and pick it up at the airport for convenience as it is the only way to get around in that part of the island.
Uber, Lyft, and taxi are not reliable on the North Shore side of Maui.
There are limited bus or public transportation services on the north shore to get you to enjoy the island and all it has to offer.
