There are up to 4 guest rooms that Christina Martini Yoga can provide through several guest house locations. It's single occupancy, first come first serve, and simple accommodations as is. The accommodations are not the same location as the practice shala training site. You need to have transportation to drive up to 10 minutes to the training site.

The guest rooms are single occupancy, with the primary guest house being a shared living space with up to two other students or guests.

Shala Santosha Yoga & Wellness, Christina Martini Yoga assume no responsibility for personal belongings left out and used by others including toiletries as it is a shared space. Therefore, Christina Martini Yoga suggest to keep your belongings to your own room after use.

Christina Martini Yoga encourages you to get outdoors after your study, training, and practice to inhale and exhale the vitamins, sunshine, beauty, and energy of Maui to refresh.

You need to rent a car to enjoy the island during your stay, but should you decide to spend your time on the property during the day, please be prepared to encounter some degree of construction as there is a larger project underway.

It is also important to take into consideration that every guest who accepts to stay in the guest house as a student must participate in Seva- service in yoga practice and lifestyle, where cleaning after themselves each day is recommended. If a communal setting does not fit your lifestyle or needs, it is recommended to find other accommodations.

The guest rooms for lodging are island country-style life on a first come first served basis for the room assigned to you and at the discretion of Christina Martini Yoga. No illegal drugs, friend sleepover, or smoking of any substances are allowed inside the guest bedrooms, guest home, or within the proximity of the house.

Mature and responsible adults only, please. Immediate request to vacate will be enforced in the case of breaking the rules or if any guest doesn't follow the courteous, respectful, responsible, humble, understanding, and loving principles of yoga life that practitioners / yoga aspiring teachers should embrace.

If you require a personal space and more of a personal preference you can search for your own accommodations. There are no adjustments or refunds to the cost of the program should you elect to find off your own lodging before or during the program as the cost of this program, retreat or training is solely for the program and not based on on-site lodging accommodations.

Important notes

Ashtanga Shala Santosha Yoga & Wellness will keep you updated regarding Quarantine COVID measures per the State of Hawaii and the dates will remain on this site as policies are constantly changing for State of Hawaii Measures. At this time 14 days quarantine is in place until September 30, 2020.

About the training? The program is physically invigorating, as you will have two physical practices during training days. Morning practice daily Sunday through Friday (off Saturday). The practice is as early as 6: 30 a.m and on some days a second practice at 4 p.m.

It is an immersion that is well rounded, traditional, authentic and comprehensive. Regular dedicated practice of yoga of about 1-3 years is recommended as the foundations of this training is from the system of the father of Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Ashtanga Yoga, the 8th limbs.

The teacher training can be done Online for 30days or Live In-Person on Maui for 18 days upon acceptance.

VIRTUAL - Online Session are currently being offered for the next session on September 20th, October 24th, November as well. Future dates to be announced Online is 30 days if this is of interest to you on ZOOM. We meet Sun/Mon/Wed/Fri for discussions, teachings, meetings and practice on the mat every day Sunday through Friday. Tues/Thurs/Sat is your personal study time and preparation for assignments.

In person on Maui: please note there could be a possibility of being Quarantined for 14 days during your arrival should the State of Hawaii extend beyond Sept 30, 2020.

8. How do you do sharing space with others for the guest house/guest rooms is a shared space during the training. You will have your own room for privacy however, a fully stocked kitchen, full bath, spacious living space, deck for BBQ or sunbathing are shared. During this training we do live together in realization with tending to your own needs, meals, laundry, keeping clean the shared spaces as part of the training.

9. Have you been to Hawaii or Maui or Hawaiian Islands? If not how do you do surrounded by nature, humidity some mosquitoes, insects, geckos, other critters that are naturally in our environment? The Guest home and the School is located in the North Shore. The beautiful paradise of Maui, known for its rainforest, botanical, nature, the countryside of the Island. It is Lush, green, very much the culture of the Island lives here. There is no a/c just a ceiling fan in the accommodations however they do have tremendous breeze and trade winds that keep us very cool, If you have sensitivity or preference for more privacy and a hotel or personal preferences for living, you will have to arrange other accommodations to best suit your needs. There is free wifi- service is great for working remote however Ashtanga Shala Santosha Yoga & Wellness, Maui, Hawaii nestled in tropical weather and at times, there are power outages or storms coming to that interrupt service.

10. Once accepted to the program after receipt of the questionnaire above, an email confirmation to proceed will be sent to you and you may then PROCEED to make the deposit or payment in full to confirm your space. All deposits are non-refundable, but transferrable for another date should there be an emergency to change.

The syllabus, schedule and links for zoom classes prior to your arrival here and your teacher training materials will be emailed to you for download and preparation for training.

11. You may book an appointment for COVID test 72 hours prior to arrival. Ashtanga Shala Santosha Yoga & Wellness, Maui, Hawaii will keep you updated on any changes. You can book your airfare, car rental and please keep in mind due to the COVID uncertainties, travelers insurance in the event of STATE Measures in place might affect your travel. Online Training is already in place as a coverage in the event cancellation of in-person training should happen. A significant discount will be applied to the full cost of Live In-person training. You will also be given a year to reschedule should there be a need to postpone or delay the arrival date due to COVID measures mandated by State of Hawaii Only. Other cancellation based outside of STATE Mandate can be arranged for extension up to one year or Online Training. Deposits are non refundable but transferrable to a later date, Ashtanga Shala Santosha Yoga & Wellness, Maui, Hawaii will offer an extension of one year to reschedule or offer the online virtual in place in the event they are all asked to adhere to the measures of the state for travel or etc.

Program details

This yoga teacher training course is based on the foundations of Ashtanga yoga holistic practice. Yoga Chiktsa Primary Series, meaning yoga therapy practice for health, wellness, holistic purpose.

Pre-requisite must be met for application acceptance. The traditional yoga sequencing approach is combined with Christina's professional oncology - cancer nursing experiences, as well as a health and wellness background, to meld yoga practices for health, veterans, cancer, whole health.

Rich emphasis on philosophy, theory, and practicum to build a solid foundation, deepening your understanding of functional anatomy, breathwork, and energetic elements within each pose as it has been practiced since many centuries ago for healing and therapeutic benefits. Drawing upon this strong foundation, you will experiment, explore, discover, and experience a daily moving meditation known as a flow, moving, Vinyasa style practice each day. It is dynamic, therapeutic, and energetic to the whole self.

By the completion of this program, your continued ongoing daily practice, teaching experiences, continuing education, or self-study will confidently begin a new journey for you to share this yoga practice independently from what you personally have learned and experienced. It is suitable for all levels and conditions. You will explore and learn appropriate modifications for those with health and special conditions, injuries, or physical limitations.

The experience and knowledge you will gain will allow you to provide an integrated, holistic, whole health approach including all dimensions, from posture, meditation, breathing, yoga philosophy, chanting, yoga detox, yoga anatomy, lifestyle, spiritual life, and much more. Drawing upon this strong foundation, you will experiment, explore, discover, and experience a moving meditation known as Vinyasa, a series of postures arranged in a special intellectual way, as they transition from one posture to another, harnessing your creativity and inner voice. It is physically and mentally engaging, dynamic, and can be challenging at first as you build stamina, endurance, proper breathing, and focus.

By the end of the course, with your continued ongoing practice and study, you will be able to confidently begin a new journey, sharing the yoga practice from what you personally have learned and experienced. A practice that is suitable for all levels with modifications for students with conditions, injuries, or physical limitations.

You will also acquire the experience and knowledge to provide an integrated and holistic approach of all postures safely and appropriately with adjustments, meditation, breathing, yoga philosophy, chanting, yoga anatomy, lifestyle, and much more. This course starts with everyone as a beginner and progressively grows. It is the beginning of the first year studies. Anyone called to this path can enjoy the course, whether aspiring as a teacher or regular practitioner. When we step into the role of teaching, we are not simply sharing a physical practice to keep practitioners fit, but instead, the intention is sharing a holistic, whole health, mind, body, and spiritual practice that helps people to heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

The training allows your space to embody yoga, we access the opportunity to still the mind, prepare the body for meditation and the foundation for yoga to begin.

Pre-requisite

This is an immersion intensive experience that will develop a solid firm foundation of inner discipline through the practice of yoga, breath, and meditation disciplines. Those interested in RYT 200-hour and registering as an RYT with Yoga Alliance must have a minimum of 3 years of already established, disciplined daily or committed Ashtanga yoga practice or minimum one year of a dedicated Vinyasa / Hatha yoga practice.

Knowledge of the Ashtanga Primary half or full series of over one year of practice is advised but not required. Please submit with your inquiry how long you've practiced yoga, what method, system, form or style, where, and with whom. Also, include a short personal bio of yourself, your current career, medical conditions, limitations, injuries, medications, and allergies. Lastly, also share why you are interested in this program, your mission, intention, and purpose for the training. Maximum 10 students and a minimum of 4 will be accepted per session.

What happens after completion of the program?

One can choose to continue to return for continuing study annually, semiannually or when convenient to grow their knowledge continuously as yoga has no graduation to one's mind, body, spirit, and knowledge, most especially as a mentor, teacher or practitioner. Deeper understanding, practice, appreciation, skills to safely touch, assist, and adjust practitioners, and offer a therapeutic practice.

One can also choose to take the therapeutic holistic program year 2, which will deeply open the knowledge for a deeper holistic health wellness approach to pre-medical conditions, which is a 21-day program. Pre-requisite applies before acceptance to this program.

Prerequisite: Minimum, 3 years of regularly committed yoga disciplines practice and life experiences under a teacher or Shala or studio. Maturity and life experiences are as important as aspiring to yoga teaching.

This teacher training program will take place in Haiku Town. Nearby Towns are Makawao, Paia, Pukalani, Kula, Upcountry, and Road to Hana. You will need to get a rental car to enjoy all that this paradise can offer while you are staying in Maui. The Training Shala School is located 7 minute drive from the accommodation property.

If you are new to Maui, Haiku, Maui is located in the upcountry, north shore side, a favored area due to its beauty and rainforest environment. The property is lush but definitely country-style living with all the pros and cons that come with it.

Each morning the birds, roosters, cows, cats, and dogs wakes up to the sunrise. It’s simple and nothing fancy. There are island bugs, lizards, flora, fauna, and fowl, the types and amounts of which are seasonal and based on how much rain during the season.

Mosquitoes, geckos, cockroach, deer, chickens, and roosters and neighbors cats and dogs can be seen on the street from time to time. They have a mini Aussie and a outdoor cat that sometimes run around the property.

If your are susceptible to flowers, pollen, etc, please be prepared with the appropriate allergy medication.

They live in a quiet neighborhood that has old streets and many families with keiki (kids) and some strolling dogs. Please drive carefully, 15 miles per hour, as you enter Haupoa and Lemi Place. In Hawaii we practice "Aloha", the island way of saying please respect and appreciate the people, culture and "Aina" (land/earth) in your life and around you.

Food

This retreat will include a weekend of cooking class prepping meals for healthier choices. Special treat Juicing for health lesson included.

There are grocery stores nearby, such as MANA in Paia Town, Haiku Market in Haiku, Rodeo Market in Makawao, Pukalani Superrette in Pukalani, and Whole Foods, Costco, Down to Earth, and Alive and Well in Kahului. Food Land and a Safe Way are on the island too.

Arrival by airplane

Once you are accepted and confirmed for the program, please book your flight to arrive at Kahului Airport (OGG). Arrive on the start date posted, which is on a Saturday.

Depart on the date posted as the last day of class. Upon arrival at Kahului Airport (OGG), take a taxi or rent a car. We are 25 minutes to training Shala in Haiku, Maui. You will need to get a rental car to enjoy all that this paradise can offer you while you are here.

Lyft or Uber is available estimates about 25 - 30 USD one way. The taxis on site at the airport upon your arrival are about the same.
