El Albergue (4 nights)

Originally opened in 1925 by the name of “Hotel Santa Rosa," El Albergue is a historic and romantic lodge, located in the Ollantaytambo train station little more than an hour away from Machu Picchu and the city of Cusco.

With only 16 rooms, special detail is given to each and everyone, resulting in an elegantly rustic style. Beautiful gardens visited by hummingbirds are engulfed by the aroma of fuchsia, passionflower, peaches, and avocado trees which all adorn the early 20th century lodge. Step outside and catch the train to the spectacular ruins of Machu Picchu.

While you are at El Albergue, you may spend your days visiting the Inca and Pre-Inca archeological sites of Ollantaytambo, Pisaq, and Moray, river rafting and mountain biking, and enjoying the beauty and culture of the Andes.

El Balcon (3 nights)

Located only three blocks from the Plaza de Armas in the city of Cusco, El Balcon has a commanding view of the entire city, cathedrals, churches, mountains, and the Ausangate glacier.

El Balcon is a renovated colonial Casona that dates back to the 1630s built atop the preceding Inca terraces. Inca stone work and colonial balustrades mesh harmoniously around terraced gardens creating an atmosphere that is beautiful, historic, and authentically Peruvian.

At El Balcon, they strive to provide guests with the highest level of hospitality so that they have all they need to feel comfortable at this family establishment.

You will begin the week on a farm in the Sacred Valley and stay here before and after a day trip via train to hike Machu Picchu. You will close the week off with three nights in the upbeat and colorful city of Cusco.

Explore yourself as you discover the people, the food, and the spectacular natural environment. Spend your mornings practicing yoga, discussing the chakras, and enjoying a delicious a la carte breakfast then set off for the day on an epic adventure.

Expect to immerse yourself into the sacred ceremonies of local shamans, enjoy making crafts with a local NGO. Gather for a farm to table lunch, nourish yourself with fresh Peruvian cuisine, and of course hike one of the greatest natural wonders of the world.

As this is is a summer solstice retreat, you will honor the cycles of a new season through 108 sun salutations, followed by an unforgettable ceremony and party to ignite your soul.

Retreat location

Incas deemed this spot the belly button of the world. A visit to Cusco tumbles you back into the cosmic realm of ancient Andean culture - knocked down and fused with the colonial splendors of Spanish conquest, only to be repackaged as a thriving tourist mecca.

Yet Cusco is only the gateway. Beyond lies the Sacred Valley, Andean countryside dotted with villages, high altitude hamlets and ruins linked by trail and railway tracks to the continent's biggest draw - Machu Picchu.

Old ways are not forgotten here. Colorful textiles keep vivid the past, as do the wild fiestas and carnivals where pagan tradition meets solemn Catholic ritual. A stunning landscape careens from Andean peaks to orchid-rich cloud forests and Amazon lowlands.

Explore it on foot or by fat tire, rafting wild rivers or simply braving the local buses to the remote and dust-worn corners of this far-reaching, culturally rich department.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in this retreat. Enjoy a delicious a la carte breakfast at both of the hotels. For lunch each day, expect to enjoy a picnic lunch while you're out on one of the many excursions.

On Sunday of the retreat, enjoy an amazing farm to table lunch at the El Arbegue's farm. Dinners in Sacred Valley will mostly be at the hotel and dinners in Cusco will all be eaten out at intentionally chosen top rated restaurants.

Arrow Retreats love exploring the cuisine when they travel and want to offer you an opportunity to wine and dine like the locals do!

You will also get to enjoy a Pachamanca lunch - a traditional cooking practice with stones under the earth on the farm with the mountains and ruins as your back drop and enjoy some local wine.
