Apollo Power Yoga Retreat New Zealand Program

"Step into Your Power" is a Yoga Alliance RYT 200 training. This intensive training will run in April 20, 2018. You may attend this retreat as an intensive exploring yoga practice, yoga as a way of being, and for your own personal transformation and development or as part of a 200-hour teaching qualification endorsed by Yoga Alliance.

The yoga intensive have many elements that overlap, but they have a distinct curriculum, so you will benefit regardless if you decide to attend them both or separately. If pursuing the teacher training qualification, you will need to attend two yoga intensive trainings. If it is not convenient to attend both in one year, you may attend one in one year and the other in the following year.

As this intensive forms part of a Yoga Alliance approved teacher training program, there will be time committed to the five curriculum elements of techniques, training and practice, teaching methodology, anatomy and physiology, practicum and yoga philosophy, lifestyle, and ethics.

The three areas of greatest focus will be meditation, asana, and inquiry. The elements of the week will serve you well regardless of whether you intend to be a yoga teacher or simply wish to follow the yogic thread deeper into yourself and your life.

The practice you will train in is the "Journey into Power" practice of Baptiste Power Vinyasa yoga. Baron’s book of the same name will form the core text for the intensive. It is recommended that you read this book (available from Apollo Power Yoga or through on-line booksellers) and if you do not have it already, it is better to establish a familiarity with the sequence.

Daily schedule

The daily program will typically follow the pattern of meditation at 9:00 a.m. followed by asana practice, lunch, afternoon sessions on anatomy and physiology, practice speaking or teaching or assisting, dinner, and evening sessions of inquiry, philosophy, and ethics. On some days, there may be an evening asana practice to conclude the day.

The sessions will be interactive and the greater your involvement, the greater the rewards will be for you. You will bond with your fellow students and great connections and friendships can be formed.

Power Vinyasa yoga

The authentic Power Vinyasa yoga practice, which is taught by Apollo Power Yoga, uses the body's own weight in a flowing sequence to create long, lean functional strength and full mobility.

Created by Baron Baptiste, true Power Vinyasa yoga provides the strength that you expect from lifting weights at the gym, the heart-health benefits that you expect from cardio exercise, such as running, cycling or swimming, as well as the extended mobility which is a feature of most styles of yoga.

With its particular emphasis on core-strengthening, many people find Apollo's Power Vinyasa practice to be effective in relieving and preventing back pain and other tension-related types of pain.

During the course of the Step Into Your Power yoga intensive and teacher training, still photographs, audio recordings, and video recordings may be made which include your image and your voice being recorded. In applying to attend this yoga intensive or teacher training, you authorize Apollo Power Yoga to use any such sound or video recordings or any such image in reporting upon and marketing and promoting the program.
