Organizer response: Dear Mrs Burns Unfortunately the yoga we offer is not the Westernized type of yoga offered in luxury rooms and faux grass. However we respect the fact that people have different needs but unfortunately we are not able to comply and offer those. True yoga is not about the shape of your body and about luxury but the shape of your life in harmony with the nature .Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. Yoga doesn’t care about what you have been; yoga cares about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, its essence must be embodied. Satchitananda has +30 years of experience and has been in the side of famous Guru Sunny Yogi many years. We follow the primordial yoga in nature with the 4 elements Contact and interaction with mother Earth. We love simplicity and Oneness and we practice in nature without artificial facilities in connection with the universe. We were honored and happy to welcome you in our family. NAMASTE

"The apartments are great - right by the lovely beach but in a quiet location. Filia, the manager, is very kind and helpful. Filia will also help you to book tai chi/qi gong lessons, Greek lessons, boat trips and massage. A fantastic stay."

"We stayed here for a week in August. This place is a gem. I doubt if there is anything more I could add that hasn't been said in other reviews. It is in a very good location with great views. We had the room next to reception which can get noisy in the morning with people seeking info from Philia, but this is usually after 9am. The whole place is kept spotlessly clean and gardens are very well tended. Will definitely be back."

"You couldn't want for a better place to stay in Kalives. This is a small, lovely, family run block of studios and apartments at the eastern end if Maistrali Beach in Kalives. It is slightly uphill and only about 30 metres from the beach and tavernas, with many rooms having a great view across Souda Bay. You are always sure of a warm and professional welcome from Philia, who runs the apartments. We have stayed there on 6 separate occasions and always found the place fresh and clean with very regular changes of bedding and towels. Philia has obviously put a lot of thought into the decoration of the rooms as each has it's individual style."

"Great, clean apartments for a good price. Perfect location 20 mtrs from the sandy beach and some nice tavernas in Kalives. Beach is perfect for small children."

"Biggest plus however is the hospitality at this family run hotel by the Tounta family and in particular Phila:-) They make you feel at home and part of their family. And not to forget Claudia who keeps the rooms spotless always with a smile!Great recommendation, been coming there for 3 years now and intend to be back, so please always keep a studio available for me:-)"

"Once more we have made what is now becoming our annual fortnight's stay in Kalyves at Apokoros. As always, everything was just right ( apart from a very cloudy opening couple of days and I don't think we can hold Philia responsible for that ! ). The apartments are kept spotlessly clean and are well serviced throughout the stay. The views remain the very best in Kalyves. I thoroughly recommend Apokoros. Here's to next year!"

"We booked this hotel from their web site. It was our second time in Kalyves, last year we stayed to a hotel at the begining of the Kalyves village but it was the main road in the front and was really NOISY!!!. We choose Apokoros because it is located in a very beautiful spot, only 25 meters by the main sandy beach of Kalyves, near the charming fishing harbour, and with great views and a beautiful rose garden. The room we stayed was at the top floor with two balconies (most of the hotels have 1 balcony we had 2 :)) we really enjoyed the decoration with personal & homy touch and really creative. Fully equipped, free wi fi and so nice sweets in our pillows taste of rose!!!!!!! plus welcome drinks!!"

"A friendly, family-run set of apartments, Apokoros stands out as being looked after by someone who cares. The rooms are decorated with thought and personal touches and feel more homely than so many other establishmentised places. And Philia is warm, friendly and helpful without losing a professional capacity to ensure things run well. Yes, the studio room we had (304) was not huge and the seaview balcony (we had two) had minimal exposure to the waterfront and no afternoon sun. But it is less than 100m down to the beach which had ample space and sun. We've visited several Grekk Islands in our time but this is the first time we thought we would go back, both to Crete and to Apokoros. It's a lovely island and Kalyves is great as a quiet spot to settle or as a base to explore and it's only a half hour taxi ride to Chania (Ryanair) Airport."
