Environment, staff & yoga instructors , food and the Location.
This is a perfect place for someone to get some peace of mind and to just relax and enjoy this beautiful retreat. Definitely the best yoga retreat you can find in Cambodia!
from Singapore, January 2019
If you are looking for a place to recharge, reflect and relax then I recommend Ankorzen. Why? because it offers you a great combination of nature, sunshine, yoga, home cooked vegetarian food and meaningful conversations like-minded people. I stayed for 8 nights - and extended my stay twice for the simple reason that as the days progressed I started to feel better, be more flexible, relaxed plus I felt welcomed and part of a group of diverse, open minded and interesting people.
⁃ Yoga teacher’s with passion (thank you Camilla and Kristin) and classes which are good for beginners or more practiced yogi’s
⁃ Immersion with nature (there are chickens, roosters, cats and dogs walking around at night you hear crickets, gecko’s, frogs and other animals)
⁃ Ease with which to make arrangement e.g. I booked a massage 2x at the retreat, borrowed a bike to go to town, they hired a tuk tuk driver for our Ankorwat tour, they arranged for theatre tickets including the tuk tuk
⁃ Ambiance and group dynamics - the place seems to draw a crowd of international, open minded people, who enjoy traveling, meeting new people, reflecting - but nothing is forced, you don’t need to participate in any activity or meal, you just do what works for you!
⁃ Yoga mats and props are provided
⁃ There are laundry facilitates on site (1kg for 1 USD) and you can also buy drinks (e.g. cold water, or soda for approx 1-2 USD)

"Brilliant retreat would reccomened to anyone"
Both instructors Camilla and Kris were fantastic. My girlfriend and I are novice yoga practitioners and they made all if the sessions accessible for us.
The retreat is small which made it feel very personal and everyone was very social at meal times. The food was excellent and we were always excite for see what the meals were going to be.
Again we were both new to meditation and Marc made this very accessible for us. Stephanie was a great host as well.
from Hong Kong, December 2018

"I wished I had stayed longer"
The meditation experience was great - you sit in an outdoor yoga shala, being exposed to the sounds of nature while meditating. It is quite magical.
There are 4 classes interspersed throughout the day, so you can do all 4, or just take the classes as and when you body feels ready.
The Lunches and Dinners are always always delicious.

I can't recommend this place enough. I had such an amazing time!
First off, the yoga teachers are experienced, knowledgable and passionate. Amy, Seran and Maria are all fantastic teachers. There's a wide variety of yoga styles, pranayama and meditation throughout the day so you're always doing something different and new. Practicing outside in their beautiful garden was so special and really elevated the whole experience.
The staff were all friendly and really helpful, anything I needed was arranged no problem. My room was spacious and clean. The pool area and gardens are just gorgeous. The food was delicious and always fresh, healthy and vegetarian.
I can't wait to come back! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

"Relaxing retreat in beautiful garden setting"
This reatreat is a very laid back, no fuss experience, which we loved. You don't feel pressured to attend every single class and the setting is very peaceful. The food is amazing and my friend and I walked away feeling extremely cleansed and calm.

"An excellent retreat away from the hustle and bustle"
We loved everything abut our stay here. From the amazing classes to the cute bungalow, to the delicious food. Everything exceeded our expectations. We were worried about having 5h of class each day, but they are varied and spaced out so you have enough energy and rest throughout the day. The pool is also great, as it tends to get very hot!
We could not recommend this place any more, it was amazing!!

"great atmosphere and really friendly hosts "
as a beginner I felt like the place was very inclusive and willing to help people learn the basics. the food is great (although maybe some eggs could be served for the breakfast as well). the accomodation is basic but exactly what I expected, and everything was very well maintained and clean. I was very happy with my experience there and really want to do more yoga retreats because of this experience.

"Short and sweet yoga retreat"
The garden views of the retreat are absolutely refreshing. The salt water pool is an excellent addition where you can chill at during free time. Tasty and healthy vegetarian meals are served. It is sweet of them to serve teatime snacks and tea in between yoga sessions too. Tuk tuk drivers are always available to transport us between the retreat and the market. Expect a 10-min ride for one way. On-site massage services are good. I did a 1-hr body massage which was wonderful. 4 yoga classes catering to mixed levels of guests are conducted everyday, with a combination of yin, hatha and vinyasa yoga. Fred was very helpful is catering my needs. The staff and drivers are all nice and polite. The price is very reasonable for the various offerings. Highly recommended for those who seek a relaxing getaway close to the nature with relaxing yoga classes.

"Exactly a short break i was looking for"
Thanks Angkor Zen Garden provide me with warmth and heartfelt stay in Siem Reap! The envoirnment is tranquility. I like it whole of the center. The ducks, the chickens, the cats, the garden, the pool, the room (i m in sigle dorm room, only opened if shares room is full), especially the meals. Healthy and delicious!!
Something cannot be not mentioned is the staffs, GM Marc, the manager Fred, the instructors Esther and Nuran, the kitchen and housekeeping staffs, the tuk tuk driver, make the whole place homely to all come from all over the world.
I am also glad to Marc great meditation class, have rare experienced though the wedding and praying ceremony in the village were so loud. Just the second day i think i have adapted to it as background music.😄 And they really don't bother me anymore. Just make me realized that i m simply out from my comfort zone and be at a place i first to be.
And Fred, he is simply hilarious, and very helpful. Thanks to him for arranging my sights seeing. Which really gave me a great experiences of this trip other than jus the ease i have from the center!!
Definitely got to make myself back to Angkor Zen Garden again one day!!

"Rustic yet relaxing, beautiful friendly place"
The garden is beautiful, with plants and trees and lots of space. After just 2 days I felt extremely happy and relaxed. I was travelling alone but this place had such a sense of camaraderie and friendliness that it was never an issue. I made friends almost immediately and everyone was very welcoming. The yoga and meditation space was gorgeous, very relaxing, and there were many yoga sessions to choose from, with some lovely and accomplished teachers.
The WiFi and 3G connection was always good too! The food was made fresh everyday, which was great, and it was nice and healthy.
I also appreciated all the help for things such as laundry, tuk tuks, books on the shelves, and the freedom to do what we liked.
We did not need to follow the schedule and we could visit Siem Reap or temples whenever we wanted, which was fabulous. The location was excellent.
I would recommend this place to anyone who wants an introduction to Siem Reap and Cambodia.

The food, the location, the pool, the green, the yoga, the accommodation and most importantly the staff were great. Fred made sure we had all we needed and gave good advices on what to do and see. I loved the friendly atmosphere and family feel at Angkor Zen. Host Fred was extra accomodating with everyone who arrived. He supported our yoga practice and the need to see special parts of Siem Reap while we were at Cambodia. Marcos yoga instruction and guidance was beyond amazing. He encouraged your best practice in every session and took time to support learning and theory behind the yoga. The setting was lovely with nature all around and the pool was a welcome relief from the hot weather. Food was nourishing and people were friendly and likeminded. Excellent value for money

"This is my happy place"
Marco & Ester were professional and although it was beginners' classes, there were options for those not new to yoga. Marc's meditation classes were more suitated to those already practising meditation. Most guests, if not all were new and thus clueless to meditation and perhaps guided meditation would have been better.
The yoga area had a lot of mosquitoes and it would have helped if citronella or eucalpytus oils were lit around the area.
The dorm was very simple and basic but clean. The bathroom was the same. It had a hugh 'hole' as a window. A sink in the bathroom would have been convenient.
The meals were very tasty. And i loved the salt water pool.
Thank you Fred aka Arun for taking care of me!

The place itself is very lovely, with a lush garden and great green nature all around. The pool was just perfect :) The yoga/meditation classes were also great and the teachers also introduced us to varieties of yoga and meditation such as active meditation including dancing or even a Thai massage workshop! We slept in the dorm, which was very basic but alright. It can stay pretty warm during the night though. The food is just excellent! So all in all - a very positive experience.

from Austria, April 2018

"Perfect place for a time out"
Really good yoga classes, great teachers, lovely people, good massages, deliciouse food and just a perfect place to take time for yourself and to relax. I loved the peaceful garden with all the animals and a nice pool.
The manager was really helpful and friendly and organised events for the group and always tried to make everyone happy.
Yes, it can be a bit loud some time... but with my ear plugs it did not really bother me and is definitely no reason to not come back.

I stayed there for 6 days and it was a great experience. The place is very well managed by Marc who provided me with a very personal sense of hospitality. I also very much enjoyed Elisabeth's yoga classes, I thought she did a wonderful job at providing options for all levels and being very personal during and out of the classes. The place itself is beautiful and meals are delicious. The location is great too because of the proximity with the fabulous Angkor Wat temples. What I think is very important in these kind of places is the feeling of being part of a small community for a couple of days while having time to introspect and also be alone whenever one needs to.
I have been doing yoga for 3 years and I found the classes to be challenging for some parts while also providing enough time to go back to the basics and correct postures.
The only reason why I did not rank 5 stars is because of the proximity with a very loud neighborhood. It's nothing the management can do and it's not all the time, but there were occasions when the temple/wedding/party music could have been spoiling the experience a little bit. In fairness, the music is not on all the time and there were days when in was just very quiet, but this is something to consider when booking if one cannot stand any noise at all. Overall, though, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place.
Thank you Marc and Elisabeth for wonderful time! Way to go!
It was with great sadness that I said goodbye to Angkor Zen. I loved my 5 days at this charming and rustic retreat. I met really wonderful people from all walks of life , enjoyed the amazing pool, all the animals especially the kittens and really loved cycling into town everyday. The yoga classes were very good, especially those from Elizabeth. The food was fantastic and I really looked forward to afternoon tea and dinner- Terese the cook is very talented! And finally Marc the manager for always being so friendly and having a good sense of humour and making us all feel so welcome! Book Angkor Zen you won't regret it!
I had a wonderful few days here came away feeling recharged and rested. The schedule of classes is well thought out for doing either a full day of classes or mixing outings to temples or town. Elizabeth's instruction in particular was clear and personalized even in larger classes. The food was incredible (lunch is well worth the USD 8) and massages were as good as I've had in South East Asia. The general feel of the retreat was like a small community - including dogs, cats (which leave you alone if you don't want to get too close), chickens and beautiful gardens and ponds. Nights were noisy with neighboring parties and weddings but this is expected in Cambodia. I stayed in Le Studio -the bathroom was clean but very basic. Marc and Bruno are incredible hosts and really happy to share their knowledge and help with queries.

Beautiful place for a relaxing yoga retreat. Lovely atmosphere, great yoga classes and teachers, phenomenal food and really nice people. There wasn't strict attendance so you could go to all or some of the yoga classes, whatever suited you. It was also nice to be near the town the Siem Reap so if you were combining this trip with sightseeing, you could leave and come back in a short period of time.
I stayed in the Studio over Christmas 2016. I had a wonderful time. The location is Beautiful with a Lovely garden with a saltwater pool. The yoga is excellent and well planned with experienced teachers that challenges beginners as well as advanced students. The food is excellent and all the Contact with the staff at the retreat is professional. They are really doing their best for you so that you will enjoy your stay.
