For some people, teaching is a calling, a drive to share what they love and what they have to give. It is a form of devotion to their families, students, and communities. For others, the opportunity to dive into their practice is to experience joy and the discovery of self – also something the course offers to others.
This program combines creative and intelligently sequenced yoga classes, hands-on workshops, small group adjustment and practicum sessions, and practical anatomy and philosophy to support you in deepening your personal practice and discovering your own voice and unique contribution to the yoga world and community.
Upon successful completion of this training course you will be equipped with:
The program meets and exceeds all yoga alliance requirements. Your 200-hour program features the following:
Valerie is both charismatic and nurturing and infuses her classes with compassion, humor, intelligence, and challenge. She sees each practice as an archetypal voyage and tries to lead her students into the meaning, story, and power of each pose. Her class forms include Dynamic-lead Ashtanga, creative Vinyasa, and technical workshops. With over 30 years of teaching experience, her in-depth teacher training programs are highly acclaimed and to date, she has graduated with over 500 200-hour teachers and close to 100 teachers from the 300-hour program who now teaches worldwide.
The package includes light breakfast and lunch. Teas and fruit are available throughout the day. Dinner would be on your own.
Bulgaria is a phenomenally beautiful country rich in history and historical sites, beautiful countryside, and amazing food. They recommend the following things to do in the surrounding areas:
Stay a night in Sofia on the way to the retreat and go on the free walking tour to visit Thracian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Communist history all in one place.
Make the most of Veliko Tarnovo. The training center is just outside of this historic 13th-century capital which is filled with historic sights, summer music festivals, and amazing restaurants.
Around the village, there are many sights and natural attractions including:
Sofia Airport
184 km

Henri Coandă International Airport
170 km
Transfer not provided
Flights can be taken to Sofia, Bulgaria (SOF) or Bucharest, Rumania (OTP). Airport transfer is not included in the price.
Both are about a two-and-a-half-hour drive away from their center. Bucharest in Rumania can be used as an alternative airport to Sofia, the distance is the same. However, transfer from Romania to Bulgaria is a little more problematic, and car rental has additional insurance costs as you cross borders.
There are several car hire companies available at the Sofia Airport. Due to the poor road conditions, Ananda Yoga & Detox Center strongly advises you to take out the full extra cover at around 8 EUR per day. Airport transfer can be arranged directly to the place of accommodation. The cost is about 150 BGN.
The coach service is effective and comfortable and buses to Varna via Veliko Tarnovo run hourly. They recommend a taxi to the bus station from the airport for about 10 EUR. The bus will be about 22 BGN.
