Ananda Healing Center offers you the possibility of staying in the San Cristobal de las Casas center.

Program

Ananda Healing Center focus on the synthesis of elements today scattered amongst different schools:

  • Vedanta
  • Upanishads (no dualismo / non-dualism)
  • Baghavad Gita (Bhakti, Karma, Jnana)
  • Yoga Sutras de Patanjali (Ashtanga/Raja Yoga)
  • Tantra

Given the great dispersal of physical yoga practice into countless schools with different orientations, we propose the reconstructing of the teachings of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, Grandfather of Postural Modern Yoga:

  • Anatomic Structural Alignment, preserved and further developed by B.K.S. Iyengar.
  • The Tristhana (Ujjay, Bandha and Drishti), the foundation for the dynamic vigour that characterizes Ashtanga Vinyasa.
  • The personalized suitability approach of Viniyoga.
  • Complimentary Restorative practices, present in Iyengar and Viniyoga and defining of Yin.
  • Proprioception as the ultimate intuitive basis for sequencing, present in Iyengar, Viniyoga and defining of Dharma Yoga.
  • Pranayama
  • Insight Meditation: the clear and equanimous of what is.
  • Nada Yoga
  • Karma Yoga
  • Kundalini Yoga

Requirements

This course aims at taking a person with significant experience in the guided practice of Yogasana (2 years of no less than 3 weekly classes) to a situation that will allow her to practice autonomously (asana, pranayama and meditation) and to begin experiment teaching (asana) to small groups.

If your main motivation is learning, the deepening of your practice and going beyond perceived/construed limits we require a deep commitment to the practice and the course, as well as an honest and clear will to participate and learn. In this case, you can earn a Teaching Certificate only after fulfilling the pre-requisites and demonstrating your ability in relation to the skills and theory facilitated through this course.

Objectives:

Own your practice, master its fundamental elements and sequencing principles:

Ananda Healing Center main objective is to facilitate each participants’ appropriation of the necessary elements to become established in a self-directed practice of Asana, Pranayama and Meditation. They believe the self-regulation of one’s practice is both what makes a Yogini and the only possible basis from which to build the skills to teach others.

The departure point is a base sequence that lays the foundations towards the movement capacities required for the practice of the Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa. The image that organizes said sequence is not a line but an interconnected root system to be explored in further and further depth, through a variety of anatomically sensible combinations; in accordance with the interests and capacities of each participant.

Sequencing:

  • Classification and structure of asana
  • Structure of a Vinyasa class
  • Criteria for the structuring of a Vinyasa class
  • Individual suitability facilitation

Supplementary Skills:

  • Applied anatomy
  • Adjustments (verbal and physical)
  • Thai massage
  • Voice management
