Experience a relaxing retreat with guided meditation and yoga. Explore spiritual principles and feel the joy of a community while surrounded by the beauty and peace before the rural retreat center west of Portland, Oregon. During the retreat, you will stay at Harmony Hall, Ananda, the finest guest facility with 50 lovely guest rooms and the Green Hill Cafe. There are rooms available for sharing guests. You may also upgrade your room to single and private occupancy. Every room includes a personal sink while bathrooms and showers are just down the hall.

During this retreat program, you will be introduced to Ananda Yoga, a gentle, yet powerful healing impact, an invaluable aid for deeper meditation and higher consciousness.

You will experience in-depth instruction in meditation and guided Ananda yoga postures. All the activity will let you explore spiritual principles that can be helpful to improve your quality of life by raising your level of consciousness and harmonizing your body, mind, and soul.

In addition to sessions of instruction and discussion, daily Ananda yoga and meditation will be offered in the morning and in the afternoon. The sessions will include yoga postures, breathing, energy-control techniques, yogic meditation techniques, and applied yoga philosophy.

  • David Seybert

    David has been on a spiritual path since several awakening experiences in his teenage years. He later pursued a bachelor degree in Philosophy with a focus on eastern religions. David also began to study meditation. He learnt t’ai chi yoga and living in a Zen Buddhist way afterwards.

    Miriam joined Ananda Center at Laurelwood and the cities of the light program in the spring of 2013. She was personally trained by Swami Kriyananda through daily contact across fourteen years. After long training, Miriam brings a depth of understanding and a richness of joy to Ananda.

The retreat will be held at a campus-based environment, located in Laurelwood Valley near Portland, Oregon, a place nestled at the base of Bald Peak along the vineyard and valley scenic tour route. In addition, the area is blessed by fertile grounds and nourished by fresh artesian spring and rainwater.

Your weekend will include three daily delicious vegetarian meals. Breakfast consists of organic cereals, gluten-free oatmeal, and a variety of bread including gluten-free fresh fruit and yogurt. Lunch and dinner will be a balance between grains, fresh or cooked vegetables, and a delicious main course. You may also have hot water, tea, and fruit which are always available in the cafe.

If you have any special dietary needs that you did not specify in your registration, please contact Ananda Center at Laurelwood which will do its best to accommodate you.

During your free time, you can always enjoy the lovely boutiques or schedule a massage and other healing sessions in the Radiant Health Center. If you are willing to have a tour, you can also try self-guided walks around the campus or visit the Oregon coast known for its wild beauty and underpopulated beaches.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Portland International Airport (PDX). There are several transportation options available from the airport to reach the retreat location.

From the airport, you can hire a taxi or airport shuttle to bring you out to Laurelwood. This is an expensive option as airport shuttle will cost about 100 USD one-way.

Car rentals are available at the airport. This is also an expensive option, but it does offer greater flexibility. For your information, there is a substantial local airport tax that is added to the base rental car rate for any rental car locations in the vicinity of the airport.

Arrival by bus

Bolt Bus provides service from Vancouver, British Columbia, Seattle, Washington, Eugene, Albany, and Oregon. The Portland stop is on Northwest Everett Street between Northwest Broadway and Northwest 8th Avenue.

You can catch the MAX yellow or green line at Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Davis Street, ride it to Pioneer Courthouse Square and transfer to the MAX red or blue line, which will take you to the Beaverton Transit Center.

Arrival by train

Amtrak trains arrive and depart from Union Station in downtown Portland, which is served by the MAX light rail system as well. The MAX yellow or green line station is just across the street from Union Station. Take the yellow or green train to Pioneer Courthouse Square, transfer to the MAX red or blue line and take it to the Beaverton Transit Center.

You may then take a taxi cab from Beaverton to Laurelwood and the fare is usually from 50 to 65 USD. The address to use for directions is SW Academy Way, Gaston, Oregon 97119.
