During this five-day retreat, you will immerse yourself in the practice and its benefit with particular attention to the heart and loving-kindness. Soaking in the soft rhythm of the waves, slowing down, and calming the nervous system are easy on the island.
You will be sleeping in a traditional 100-year-old rustic-style villa built in the typical style of the Canary Islands, characterized by natural wood, beamed ceilings, and stone walls. The villa features air-conditioned separate garden houses, each with a master bedroom, a bathroom, and a garden-facing terrace, and a dedicated house for practicing yoga and meditation. A lush tropical garden surrounds the property, offering space and occasions to relax among majestic palm and banana trees, cactuses, and other rare exotic plants.
Far away from noisy traffic or touristy paths, you will be surrounded by relaxing tranquility, silence, and birds chirping. You will be able to enjoy nature at its best with views of both the Atlantic ocean and the majestic Teide mountain. Choose this location if you are interested in experiencing a familiar atmosphere and are looking for a more intimate environment than that of a hotel.
The villa is dedicated to the yoga retreat so there will be sharing the experience with you or guiding it since two teachers will be sleeping at the venue (in the main house) and be there with the guests at all times. You will be practicing either in the garden or in a separate, light-filled house with a wooden floor, ideal for meditation and yoga.

Rest in the shade of the tropical plants in the garden, allow your stressed mind a soothing break from the daily troubles, and let your gaze roam the ocean, the mountains, the forests, and traditional colorful houses in old towns. The teachers are expert and professional, highly trained, and will be by your side in this journey.
Daily yoga, pranayama, and meditation classes are well balanced for you to get the most out of them, strengthen your practice, and feel enriched by the experience. Morning and evening yoga classes energize and destress your body and soul. Daily meditation classes focused on the heart chakra to go deeper into this sacred space to soothe, heal, restore, comfort, and enhance it. You will practice daily pranayama by breathing in the healthy salty air of the ocean.
Anahata Way offers many activities but none is compulsory. Feel free to join all or go to the beach instead, at your leisure. This experience focuses on the heart chakra through yoga, meditation, and pranayama classes aimed at getting it unstuck and unstruck, enhancing your love for life, compassion, and kindness. They foster a relaxed, respectful, and friendly atmosphere among participants for everyone to ease and find his or her rhythm.
This retreat is open to anyone at least 16 years old. One requirement is the desire to take a healthy break from the ordinary and deepen the practice. As such, light on your heart is a great occasion to visit such a famous destination as Tenerife island while also taking care of yourself. Your heart space, your loved ones, your ability to root into-loving kindness. Lodging is in separate garden houses each with an extra-large double bed, a bathroom, and a garden-facing terrace.
This grants a lovely balance between group activities and private space or time. Given such characteristics, the light on your heart retreat is a favorite of couples wanting to spend quality time together. Single participants also like booking a whole garden house all for themselves to enjoy the luxury of independence, space, and privacy. Should you be on your own, rest assured, you will meet new friends, if that is what you want. You may also be in need of some deep rest and silence, feel free to communicate this to Anahata Way.
This is your retreat and they are committed to making it as beautiful as possible. Please let them know in advance should you be suffering from any physical condition that may limit your practice so that the teacher may give you more appropriate asanas and adjustments, tailoring the physical practice to your needs. Finally, you may be wanting to only focus on the spiritual part only of this retreat, or vice versa, on the physical one. You are free to do so, just let them know.
Wake up after a wonderful night's sleep. The day will start with the morning yoga session either in the garden or in the lovely yoga room. It aims at waking you up, making you feel refreshed and energetic, energizing your body, and setting the mood for the day. You will immerse yourself in a pranayama session (breathing techniques) followed by a guided meditation session to find your center, root in gratitude, and cultivate inner calm. Then it is time to have breakfast together.
Again, there are plenty of cozy spots in the garden for you to have a quiet breakfast listening to birds chirping or the kitchen and outdoor dining area. Free time during the day to explore the island and choose what suits you the most. The teachers will be happy to direct you towards the most interesting locations and sometimes may come along too if you wish. The evening session may be a Yin yoga class, a yoga Nidra, a singing mantra, and a meditation workshop, depending on the energy level and needs of the participants. Expert teachers will customize the experience based on you. This is your retreat.
Note: There will be 2 yoga lessons per day (except on arrival and departure days, where there will be 1 lesson only)
Valeria Atikanta Deva comes from a lineage of Hatha yoga teachers. She honored this heritage and also explored a wide range of yoga styles, studied in an ashram in India and in Australian yoga centers, she is currently based in Italy. Meditation is very important to her, in fact she regularly visits meditation centers to bring balance and depth to her personal life. Her meditation classes and yoga Nidra sessions are extremely soothing and pleasant. Her yoga classes are a lovely blend, calibrated on the needs of the participants, time of the day and overall energy level.
Barbara likes to teach her classes by keeping the focus on the breath, which gives the practitioners the physical and mental strength to experience and explore their bodies and mind qualities on a different level. She helps students find joy in the practice in a safe, curious and mindful way without taking themselves too seriously. Studying and living yoga is a lifelong journey. We need a trustworthy guide and good company but eventually, it becomes a beautiful way of self-discovery.
The retreat will take place in Arona, Tenerife, Spain. Las Serenitas lies in an excellent location, a tranquil area in the south of the island, where the climate is nicer, easily accessible from the airport, and just a short drive away from the famous Costa Adeje and El Medano. Tenerife is known as the island of the eternal spring. It is characterized by the all-year-round warm climate and the uncontaminated blue ocean. It offers black, volcanic, and wild sandy beaches but also accessible white sandy beaches served with sun umbrellas and lined with cafes, chiringuitos, and shops.
Teide, the highest mountain in Spain, stands in the background, providing spectacular hikes on lunar-like landscapes. It also offers some unique, green forests listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. If you would like to discover the area, hike in the surrounding area, or go for the longer hike that takes you to the spectacular Roque del Conde. Popular tourist destinations like Jungle Park (four and a half kilometers), Siam Park (11 kilometers), and Los Cristianos and Las Americas (12 kilometers) are very close. This will allow you to enjoy the best of the island while avoiding the noisy crowd.
You will indulge in delicious, abundant, nutritious, and buffet brunches prepared using local fresh and organic products as much as possible included in the price. Anahata Way loves fresh fruits, juices, herbal teas, scented water, fresh bread, spreads, avocados, eggs, cakes, yogurt, seeds, and so much more.
Tenerife offers a wide range of attractions and naturalistic sites. The teacher will be happy to direct you towards those of your interest. Unless you plan on relaxing in the garden or hiking in the surroundings of the property, Anahata Way suggests you rent a car to move autonomously.
