"Amazing Yoga retreat for Solo traveler"
Loved the atmosphere, the location and the overall experience.
The schedule of the yoga classes and mediation classes was just perfect and it was great to kind of have a scheduled day more or less without it being toooo stressfully scheduled and having the time to read, relax, dip in the pool, take a nap
i was very hesitant going in this by myself but came out of it definitely relaxed and having met a great group of friends!
Owners Bob and Jill are very welcoming and so is the entire staff. Vanessa , our yoga instructor was just perfect ! i had almost zero experience in yoga, so definitely a beginner & this experience made me love it even more. It really was a physical and emotional experience. My favorite spot in the resort was definitely the Yoga Studio and hanging by the pool and reading a book on one of the hammocks in the property.
Food was fresh & very flavorful as fruits and veggies are all organic! Lunch was the only one that was not very filing but i believe it was overall part of the wellness and health offering and i personally didn't mind it at all!
I did some excursions such as Carara National Park, beach and the Waterfalls . Waterfalls were a magical experience in my opinion. Really a must do!
Overall, I really loved this experience and felt so much better coming out of it and with great positive vibes!
Thank you so much for this exceptional welcome and experience, didn't want it to end! Hopefully will get to escape once more another time!! Namaste!

There is no other way to describe Amatierra other than paradise! I felt as if I was in the Garden of Eden. It was so peaceful and so beautiful. The overall experience appealed to all of my senses. The physical beauty of the place is indescribable, you wake up to birds chirping outside your window; your sense of touch is delighted as the warm breeze brushes against your face and body as you engage in your yoga stances in the open air yoga studio (which is the most beautiful studio I have ever seen). Your lungs are cleared and there is absolutely nothing to smell UNTIL...you are seated at your dining table. This experience I really cannot describe. I appreciate fine dining and am new to the vegan world. I am from New York and the juxtaposition with those two worlds can mesh seamlessly. However, when I described myself and my friends as vegan (when I communicated with Bob -the owner) and he indicated they can accommodate our vegan diet. I expected that! An accommodation only -which I translated to healthy, unappetizing food. However, the chef at Amatierra is AMAZING!!! the food will have your taste buds dancing. The views are spectacular, Bob's music selections are divine. The massage is relaxing. The overall experience can only be described as spiritual - if you allow yourself to relax, unwind and really take in the experience that they offer.

"Had a wonderful retreat"
The food was amazing, healthy, and very delicious. The place was just as described, very peaceful and beautiful. It's a small group, the hosts were very welcoming, and it was really nice to have gotten to know the people staying at the retreat with us.

AmaTierra provides a wonderful overall experience. The setting is relaxing- on a forested mountain surrounded by the sounds of nature - and there are various activities such as going to the beaches, local rain forests or simply staying at the retreat and practicing yoga. The staff are friendly, the food is healthy and tasty and the weather is pleasant and warm, like the people on vacation. Massages, meditation and lazing by the pool are other good ways to unwind. Highly recommended for people looking to get away from the stresses and strains of city life.

I fell in love with AmaTierra, Jill and Bob, the staff, and the wonderful group of people I shared my stay with. I have never felt so at peace, and more so I felt incredibly safe as a woman traveling solo to a foreign country. The food was as delicious as it was beautiful. I took several day trips outside the resort- to the Paos volcano, Waterfalls, Carara National Park, the Pacific coast in Jaco, and ziplining in Turu ba ri. The experience healed my soul. I would do this trip all over again in a heartbeat!

Peace. Tranquility. AmaTierra.
I spent 6 days at AmaTierra on a yoga/wellness retreat and it was far beyond my expectations. I decided to go on this trip alone because I wanted to quiet my mind and free myself from every day distractions. I went to explore within and find a connection to my spiritual or higher self, and maybe have a few conversations with God. AmaTierra provided the facilities to do just that and more.
The beautiful yoga studio with its stunning view of the Costa Rican mountains is breath-taking. There is a hammock in the corner, which is perfect for a nice cool-down after a swim in the pool or a walk on the trails. Meditation is after sunset, so the studio is subtly illuminated with candlelight.
The cabinas are quaint and comfortable. They each have their own private porch and entry-way. I really appreciated the space and privacy between cabinas, because I was able to practice my guitar out on the porch without feeling like I might be disturbing someone.
Jill and Bob were very warm and welcoming, as was the rest of the team. Their staff prepared the most healthy and delicious meals. They served fresh organic fruits and vegetables, delicious soups and salads, and delectable dinners. I always left the table feeling full and satisfied.
What I didn’t expect was to find such a peaceful flow of energy that was constantly changing at AmaTierra. This was particularly due to the different dynamics of guests coming and going. What I loved about this experience was that I was on my own retreat. I did not start with a group of people that arrived on the same day to participate in the same retreat. It was very much an individual journey in which you would collide with others’ journey every now and then, most often at meal times. Everyone would come together to break bread and one evening we sang songs while Jill sang and played the piano. It was lovely.
My only disappointment is that I had to leave. I could have easily stayed another week, if not longer. Needless to say, I will definitely be back!
