About the course

Healing

The Iyengar style is an ideal practice for those who have physical health issues or old injuries. The focus on alignment in the body allows each individual to work within their own limits safely while still building strength and flexibility in their body. The intensive course was designed properly so you will receive a personal attention in class, assistance in using props, and you can work at your own pace to develop practice that is tailored to your needs. Alpesh, the main teacher has many years of experience using yoga to both healing himself and helping others.

Beginners

The detailed instructions in classes will allow you to develop a strong foundation of your practice. Alpesh teaches Hatha yoga in the tradition of Iyengar which focuses on aligning the body to allow good breaths and energies to flow optimally throughout the body. Within the span of one or two weeks you will gain enough experience to take home your own self practice or prepare yourself for teacher training.

Experienced practitioners and teachers

For those who have practiced any yoga styles before as well as experienced practitioners, this course will help deepen your own practice with the benefit of Alpesh’s knowledge and focus on alignment. You will also learn variation of poses to accommodate various physical limitations based on the body’s needs, gaining experience in using modifications for both yourself and while teaching.

    Yogi Alpesh Patwari is the founder and main teacher of Alpesh Yoga School. Alpesh Patwari started practicing yoga 22 years ago to aid his own problems. He was struck with epilepsy at the age of 12 and, despite Western medicine, had to cope with depression, trembling, loss of appetite, loss of memory, and low self-esteem. His mother introduced him to the world of Bhaki yoga (worship), Karma yoga (helping people), and Gyana yoga (knowledge).

This training will take place in Dharamsala, India, near Upper Bhagsu. The High snow clad Dhauladhar ranges form a magnificent backdrop to the hill resort of Dharamsala. This is the principal township of Kangra district and overlooks wide spread of the plains. With dense pine and deodar forests, numerous streams, cool healthy air, attractive surroundings and the nearby snowline, Dharamsala has everything for a perfect holiday. It is full of life and yet peaceful. The headquarters of His Holiness the Dalai Lama are at upper Dharamsala. Covering a wide area in the form of twin settlement, lower Dharamsala (1380 meters) is a busy commercial centre. While upper Dharamsala (1830 meters) with the suburbs of Mcleodganj and Forsytheganj, retains a British flavor and colonial lifestyle.

Three vegetarian meals shall be provided within the campus from Monday to Friday. During Saturdays, breakfast is included.

The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport (DHM), which is about 13 kilometers away from Dharamshala. The airport connects Dharamshala to Delhi via Air India and Spice Jet flights. Tourists from other parts of India would find it easier to take a flight till Chandigarh and book a taxi for their onward journey to Dharamshala, which is roughly about 275 kilometers away
