You can practice yoga and be mindful anywhere and yet at times it is beneficial to retreat fully. When you do this, you will discover new insights, different ways of thinking and rediscover what it feels like to be deeply connected to your essential true nature.
During this retreat, you will be immersed in the richness of a full spectrum of yoga and meditation practices (Hatha / Flow / Yin / Restorative / Mindfulness / Insight meditation / yoga Nidra) to nourish your bodies, calm the mind and experience the felt sense of health and well-being.
You will have relaxed timetable (you do as much or as little as you like) with an experienced yoga and meditation teacher supporting you on your journey. There will be up to three yoga classes in five days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) including meditation, movement, and relaxation.
On Wednesday, you can choose a full day off for sightseeing, excursions or join Ali for the 2.5-hour asana playshop. Ultimately, this is your time to do just as you please. You may not know what that is right now, but as you start to relax and unwind, let your body and mind be playful and at ease (2.5 hours to dive in deep and explore that pose).
People come to yoga for many reasons such as flexibility, strengthening, relaxation, stress reduction or just plain old curiosity. What keeps people coming back though is its ability to take a person on a journey of transformation. After each practice, you will find yourself in a different place, a place where you start to unite the mind and body. It’s a place that you want to return to again and again.
As individuals you favor and require different practices at different times. It is perhaps a faster-paced Hatha flow class when there is just too much energy. It may be longer held and meditative Yin poses when you seek to release mentally and physically and a Restorative practice for times when your body and mind need to rest and digest.
Hatha and Hatha flow are energizing yet calming, uplifting yet grounding classes with the focus on alignment, integration, and fun! It is perfect to increase flexibility, strength and reduce stress. Yin yoga is a deeply meditative sequence of long held poses connecting you to the mind and energy body. It is perfect to release long held tensions and increase flexibility. Restorative yoga is a chance to rest and digest through deeply relaxing supported poses. It is a total chill time just for you.
Much is written and said about meditation. Perhaps because for something that is, in essence, so simple is in practice often challenging. The human organism is programmed for periods of quiet and reflection and yet in the busy lives you rush through the experiences which are the good and the bad and you don’t give yourself time to digest them.
In turn, you become full and disconnected from your innate sense of well-being. Ali Dyer Yoga and Meditation's motivations for meditation and practices like mindfulness of the breath are, in the first instance then, an opportunity to digest and process what you go through every day leaving more space in your lives both mind and body for reconnecting to your true nature.
As you progress your practice, you will discover how to skillfully and mindfully enquire into the characteristics of your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs and thus put aside that which causes your suffering. Classes are taught in an inclusive and friendly manner from accessible breath awareness techniques to more advanced Vipassana practices.
Yoga Nidra is a guided form of meditative self-inquiry, from the teachings of yoga and Tantra. You will engage with the practice of yoga Nidra for many reasons such as deep relaxation, reducing stress, aiding sleep, solving personal problems, and helping to resolve trauma.
As well as being deeply relaxing, the practice, which is usually taken in Savasana (lying in rest), helps you to be with the totality of your human experience. The bedrock of the practice is the understanding that when you can move beyond your conditioned mind and limited self-beliefs, you realize your own true nature which is spacious, unrestricted, without judgment and always present.
With the practice, you will discover that you don’t need to acquire true nature because it is already present and you'll learn how to unveil it and live a happier and more joyful life. This practice can be taken as a group open class or on a one-to-one basis. If you are working through trauma, stress or pain and would like more information on how yoga Nidra can support you please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
You will get a complimentary wine tasting on Monday evening with a local sommelier to sample the wines in the famous Bordeaux vineyards.
Ali is an ex-military policewoman and keen runner. Yoga helped her through a divorce and ill health. In 2007, she took a 200-hour teaching training with the prestigious London based training organization, The Life Centre. Her yoga education continued with a further 200-hour Anusara teacher training with Bridget Woods Kramer and several Scaravelli inspired intensive trainings along with Restorative training with Judith Hansen Lassater.
