Portugal Yoga Holiday and Surfing

This yoga and surfing holiday is for surfers wanting to get into yoga, for yogis wanting to learn to surf, or for anyone wanting to experience both yoga and surfing. Beginners are welcome! The southwest coast of Portugal offers fantastic waves and the interesting program fuses the two transcending practices in a way that everyone will enjoying.

The house comfortably sleeps 12 bed people. The four rooms are divided into two double rooms and two shared rooms. Showers and toilets are shared. The shared rooms sleep up to four yogis of the same gender. The double room can be shared with another participant (same gender) or with a partner, friend, or family member.

Single room

Single rooms are not available at Quinta da Rosa itself (unless they're not full), but can be booked in the surrounding area in between five to ten-minute walking distance to the Quinta. They all have their own bathrooms and belong to very friendly hosts.

Program

Each day will start with a sunrise meditation followed by a yoga class that is especially designed to gain flexibility, strength, and a confident mind for surfing. After breakfast, the surf coach will take you to a local surf beach where you will learn the ways of the wave. Lunch is always a tasty vegetarian dish served at the beach. The day winds down with a gentle and relaxing yoga class followed by a healthy and delicious dinner.

You'll leave this week feeling very fit, healthy, and energized. You will have a greater knowledge of yoga and it is guaranteed that you will have stood up on a wave. This is a fun holiday where you will spend lots of time connecting with the sun, the sea, and yourself. Please note that this holiday is different to a surf camp. They are more of a yoga based holiday offering surfing.

Instructors

Diana Jost
Diana studied physical education (ETH Zurich) and later became a qualified yoga teacher (Sivananda Ashram, Austria). In addition, she is a nutritionist (school of natural health science, Great Britain), Ayurvedic health and nutrition adviser (International society of Kamlesh Ayruveda), a massage therapist (Thai yoga massage, Indian head massage, Science of Yoga School, India), and a life coach (school of natural health science).

Retreat location

These retreats are held at the charming Portuguese Quinta da Rosa near Salema. Situated in the hills of southern Portugal, the house is a stellar spot for a yoga holiday. It boasts a lovely meditation rock garden, a private swimming pool, an outside yoga deck, and a number of relaxing and shaded outdoor terraces. The interior and exterior of the villa is breathtaking.

The rooms are very spacious with high ceilings, arched windows, and lovely mahogany floors and doors. It is a very charming and modern house that has a classic and vintage style. If possible, the yoga practice will be on the shaded outside deck, but some 'yoga on the beach' sessions might be an option.

Food

In all retreats, very delicious and nutritious vegetarian food, made from regional fresh produce purchased mostly from local (where ever possible biological) farmer's markets are offered. The guests stay away from wheat, life yeast, refined sugars (except local honey), coffee, black tea, alcohol, meat, fish, and processed foods for all yoga holidays.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS), Seville Airport (SVQ), or Faro Airport (FAO). For internal European flights, Faro Airport is often the best option and offers unbeatable value for the cheapest flights into Portugal. Seville also offers cheap flights from many of the main discount flight companies. Lisbon Airport (LIS) is normally reserved for international flights from farther afield.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
