The Akasha Yoga Academy offers you a space for integral evolution in which you will journey to the very roots of classical Hatha Yoga. Five supervised teaching assignments, coupled with sequencing skills, adjustment, touch & voice training enable you to grow into a confident asana teacher. The comprehensive curriculum of this fully accredited instructor course exceeds the standards of the international Yoga Alliance. Successful graduation authorizes you to become an officially Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200).

The Akasha Yoga Academy courses on Koh Phangan are hosted in a stylish venue located directly on the waterfront, near the main harbor town of Thongsala. The place is characterized by the fancy architecture, an amazing view of the turquoise ocean, and dozens of coconut palms right on the beach.

The attractive beachfront houses have immediate ocean access and are designed in the sleek style of Thai-minimalism with large window fronts. The studios are equipped with a large king-size bed, free drinking water, beach access, rooftop terraces, television, small kitchenette, free Wi-Fi, private bathroom with hot water, and optional air-conditioning. Each house features a balcony and a private rooftop terrace with stunning ocean view. Shared accommodation options provide separate twin beds.



Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Registration with Yoga Alliance provides a globally recognized credential.


This 1-month full-time training transmits the essence of classical Hatha Yoga: Sun Salutations, Asana, Pranayama, meditation, and practical Yogic philosophy. Its systematic structure is tailored to the needs of prospective teachers, covering alignment of postures, voice training, practicum assignments, purification, Ayurveda, Thai-Yoga massage and much more. The course empowers beginners and advanced aspirants alike to develop a solid self-practice, and to grow into confident Yoga instructors.


The cornerstones are energy-based Hatha Yoga, Spiritual Heart Meditation, and the non-dual vision of Advaita Vedanta. The aspiration is to synchronize mind & heart, to combine rational understanding with deep-going practice, and to develop present moment awareness. Authenticity & inspiration, passion & enthusiasm are the hallmarks.


The training is led by Kirsten & Burkhard, the directors of the Akasha Yoga Academy, and their inspiring team. They both teach Hatha, Hatha Flow, Yin, Pranayama, meditation, and Yogic philosophy in retreats, workshops, and teacher training courses around the globe.

Both are experienced registered Yoga teachers at the highest level of the international Yoga Alliance (E-RYT-500). They are passionate practitioners of the Yogic tradition, and are sharing their experience and knowledge in a very personal, authentic, and cordial way.


The educational curriculum of this fully accredited Teacher Training meets and exceeds the official standards, and is fully accredited by the international Yoga Alliance. Upon graduation you will receive a properly recognized Yoga Instructor Certificate with which you can sign-up as a Registered Yoga Teacher with the renowned Yoga Alliance (RYT-200).

The schedule applies Monday-Saturday.

Saturday afternoons end early at 17:00 with a workshop on the specific topic of the week.

The course tuition includes daily vegetarian breakfast buffets Monday - Saturday. The food is a reflection of the spirit of Koh Phangan: a happy blend of Thai cuisine, infused with raw and international tastes - a vibrant mélange, just like the island itself.

The food is fresh and healthy - everything is prepared with seasonal and mostly local ingredients: daily tropical fruit selection, muesli, whole grain bread with eggs or pancake, or authentic Thai breakfast snacks.

For lunch and dinner you have the freedom to choose between numerous options: The offers range from our fantastic & convenient on-site café and nearby beach restaurants, to a variety of bistros, facilitating different budgets & tastes in town. On Saturdays classes end in the afternoon, and Sundays are completely free, allowing for exciting day trips into the stunning tropical nature. The paradise island of Koh Phangan offers a great variety of breath-taking excursions:

Scuba diving is among the favorite activities on the island: The nearby Sail Rock is one of the most beautiful & affordable diving spots in South East Asia. A variety of certified professional diving schools welcomes beginners and advanced divers for their famous boat-trips.

Other popular beach activities include snorkeling, stand up paddling, kayaking – or even kite-surfing on more windy days. Another great way of discovering the diversity of the island is by beach hopping, relaxing, tanning and swimming in the various bays.

The nearby Angthong Marine National Park with its countless untouched limestone islands is worth another day trip. Excursions include an impressive boat ride to the islands, a hike to the blue lagoon, kayaking and snorkeling.

Most of the forest covered mountains in the center of the island are protected National Park and invite for a day away in nature: Hiking small jungle trails, enjoying beautiful views across the nearby islands, and hanging out by the many waterfalls are wonderful ways to recharge in paradise.

Spa treatments

Experience shows that it is beneficial to combine the intensity of the teacher training with a few regenerating wellness treatments. The nearby spa centers offer a variety of pampering services, such as massages, therapeutic bodywork, as well as health & beauty packages.

The local rates are very affordable, as a professional 1-hour treatment only costs 7-12 USD!

Arrival by airplane

Book an affordable flight to Thailand’s famous airport Bangkok (BKK).

Thailand is a very popular destination, and the convenient airport efficiently handles millions of passengers per year. It is a very safe place and all practicalities are very well organized.

Airport transfer to the venue

Bangkok is just a 1-hour flight away from the nearby island airport on Koh Samui or the mainland airport Surat Thani, from where there is a direct ferry transfer going to Koh Phangan. Arriving in any airport or ferry port in Thailand, you will find many helpful hands and signs guiding you the right direction, as well as assisting in booking minivan or bus shuttle connections, taxis, or boats. At the airport, they will typically offer you so-called “joint tickets”, combining the ride with bus and boat to the nearby island. The official ticket booths and their assistants offer fixed prices – so there is no need to be concerned about negotiating price.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 60 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 60 days before arrival.
