Expert tip: This is one of the most popular yoga retreats offered Romania.
Combining movement, stillness, deep thought and free expression we will embark on a week-long healing retreat in the countryside of Transylvania. Our days will include two Hatha yoga and meditation sessions juxtaposed with poetry, mantra chanting, and music. Focusing on enabling our true voices to blossom, an emphasis is given to tuning into subtle energy frequencies and becoming more aware of the chakra system.
During this retreat, you will stay at Akasha Retreat. Its large open lounge and diner allow all guests, teachers, and friends to come together and socialize, laugh, play, and explore creative pursuits together. The gorgeous mountain views, garden, and terraces are the kindest gift nature has given them, and they in return offer them to you. Each of the guest bedrooms is special and has handmade decorative items, a blend of modern romantic with natural elements from the environment.
Twin sharing bedrooms are for two guests sharing one room. Some of the twin bedrooms have private balconies and all enjoy beautiful mountain views. Private double rooms can be booked for single use if you prefer to have your own bedroom or for double occupancy if you decide to bring a partner or a friend along.
Private queen suites are the most spacious and decadent bedrooms. The private rooms can be booked for single use if you prefer to have your own bedroom or for double occupancy if you decide to bring a partner or a friend along. The rooms are tastefully decorated and feature floor to ceiling windows and glorious mountain views. Also, there is plenty of room for your own yoga practice should you still have the energy.
Accommodation is in individual bedrooms in a single or double occupancy when friends or a couple sharing a large queen bed. Akasha Wellness Retreat provides all yoga mats and propers just bring an open mind.
Believing that the true answers to health and happiness lie within us all this system brings about deep purification, healing, and transformation. We just need to find the courage to look inside and listen more carefully to silence.
There is something different about asana practice when one's eyes are closed. There is no room for distraction, no room for comparison or communication. We become gifted with the present moment. Each morning and evening we will meet on our yoga mats to find a balance between movement and stillness.
Our teacher, Abby Dixon shares a self-adapted version of classical Hatha Yoga, inspired by Hridaya, Sivananda, and Agama traditions.
The focus is to find a space of tranquility within while activating and energizing different muscles and energy points in the body. Using the chakra system to guide yogis through their practice brings another element into the sequence, and allows for deeper exploration of these subtle energy wheels.
Drawing attention to the breath, especially during awareness phases brings yogis more in tune with their lung capacity, and its common underuse. Through breath, we are able to eliminate more toxins than through any other method of excretion.
We explore breath and its ability to cleanse and heal through pranayama practice, too. Holding postures for extended periods of time, allows the body to become more subtle and flexible without risking injury.
The states of stillness cultivated during these periods resting in posture, deepen our states of consciousness and allow for each seat to become a meditation position. Yoga is more than a workout. It makes you realize that when you surrender and when you find stillness, strength follows. This strength cultivated is both mental and physical, bringing harmony and balance to our existence.
Music is magic. We will finish each yoga practice with a mantra, and there will be many opportunities throughout the week to sing sacred songs from all over the world.
Every morning until breakfast time and one full morning until noon, you will practice a silent retreat. This is a powerful tool to connect with yourself, pick a good book, and explore the true benefits of being on retreat. This is your time.
Gong bath is a therapeutic recital of sacred sounds and a meditation guided by the sound of the gong and Tibetan and crystal bowls. The planetary gongs used during the concert are Venus gong and Earth Platonic gong, played together they unify the greatest love.
The planetary gongs are instruments calibrated on the specific frequencies of the planets, set to produce harmonious sounds with healing effects on mental, emotional, physical level, and consciousness. The sounds of the gong can be likened to the primordial sound that formed the basis of the universe. Among the many benefits of the long concert, the most important are:
During this retreat, you will enjoy hiking, nature, and forest walks.
This retreat will be held in Pestera Village. The village is called Pestera and it means "the cave" in Romanian, named after a beautiful bat cave located approximately 100 meters from the center. The village is part of the National Park of Piatra Craiului, a majestic chain of mountains and forest valleys that still harbor an abundance of wildlife from bears to mountain goats and more. Seven kilometers away is one of the most debated Transylvanian icon, Dracula's Castle in Bran. It is an impressive fortified castle with a large heritage and stories to match.

Food that is not only delicious and easily digested but deeply nourishing, sustaining, healing, and energy-boosting. Their aim is that you will pick up good habits from being on the retreat and that you will continue to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle back home using essential principles about food and nutrition that are easily applicable in your daily lives.
Eating organic is about avoiding chemical additives and genetically modified organisms, eliminating an unnatural, potentially harmful component from your health equation. Organic produce grows slowly because that is how nature intended it, unaltered by pesticides and chemicals designed to prolong shelf life. Organic is also about supporting and encouraging your local farmer and fruit and vegetable supplier.
When you eat organic, you also eat seasonally, you become aware and appreciative of what is available now, rather than all the varieties you could have instead. You appreciate the food by what it is, when you have it, and how much more nutrient and flavor it has when it is eaten and cooked fresh. Akasha Wellness Retreat visits the farms they work with, they look at how farmers produce their food, and they only choose sustainable and certified organic produce.
What are not offered including alcohol, coffee, and soda. What are offered including Alkaline spring water, ginger, lemon, and hot water, infused spring water, natural spring water, and organic herbal teas.

The spa and wellness facility at Akasha is not a traditional spa, they do things differently there. You create the ritual you want to have a variety of homemade organic bath and body products. Their massage therapists that are internationally qualified in a range of treatments from deep tissue to shiatsu, Ayurveda, and Thai massage, will assist you in your choice of essential oil and body products so that your treatment complements specific conditions.
They created their own range of products that are lovingly made at Akasha using only organic natural products such as coconut oil, organic herbs, and specialized clays.
These include shiatsu and deep tissue, relaxing coconut oil, hot stone massage, Swedish massage, and Thai massage. These bodywork therapies are designed to complement your yoga practice and are often performed by yoga instructors themselves. Their therapists understand the importance of helping you to connect to your body, releasing tension and improving your posture.
Just a few benefits of regular massage therapy as an active part of your yoga practice are releasing tension in problem areas, loosening the connective tissue in your outer thighs and increasing hip flexibility, improve your body awareness, and highlight imbalances that can then be addressed in your yoga practice.
