The building where you will be living and practicing has a very special and sacred energy. It was built in 1830 and served as a school and monastery for nuns. The echoes of this history can still be heard in stillness. It is surrounded by fields, trees, nature, and a beautiful castle. Akasha Retreat center is a true jewel that is made with the purpose of welcoming and supporting you through this training and process. Community living can be seen as an essential part of the training.

By living together, you can inspire each other, as well as encourage yourselves to face and embrace your triggers that may arise. Akasha offers different options for accommodation. They are providing a space that is physically and energetically clean and uplifting. Apart from your selected bedroom, you have access to the beautiful shared living room, garden, and temple room. All rooms have all the necessary items provided: a comfortable bed, sheets, blankets, pillows, closets, towels, etc.

Cocoon room

This beautiful room with a double bed is ideal for couples or individuals who like to treat themselves with extra privacy and spaciousness. Included with this room is a large private bathroom.

White room

This white-painted room, full of natural light, offers a perfect condition to reconnect with your inner light. Inside there are three beds and the bathroom attached to the room is to be shared only with your roommates (if any).

Dormitory

The spacious dormitory has three bunk beds and is their most economical option inside of the building. You will still be able to bathe yourself in the beauty and spaciousness of the rest of the house.

Green room

This green oasis invites you to retreat in a welcoming, nurturing space - ideal to restore your inner energy. It has one double bed and a washbasin. The separate bathroom is to be shared with the other guests that are staying in the dormitory.

Camping

The most low-budget option is to bring your own tent and get settled somewhere on the large field next to the monastery. An outside toilet and shower are available.

Necessary pre-requisites

  • Minimum one year of regular practice in yoga
  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Dedication, openness, and willingness to transform and learn
  • Akasha Retreat Center highly recommends having read already some translations or commentaries on the yoga sutras of Patanjali and Bhagavad Gita

About the course

Hatha yoga will be thought of in its holistic form with an understanding of the main yogic branches. Hatha yoga aims to align the body, mind, and spirit, free yourself from blockages, and ultimately open up for self-realization. At the end of the training, you will all be able to give a full integral Hatha yoga class and have the necessary philosophical background and understanding of the mechanisms of yoga. In-depth knowledge of the yoga Sutras of Patanjali will be thought to understand the original meaning of yoga and to guide you into spiritual-oriented life and practice.

As well, you will learn many practical aspects of yoga and teaching methodologies. You will be supported by experienced yoga teachers, an uplifting community, and the energy present in the wonderful Akasha retreat center. Akasha Retreat Center program is meant to deeply transform the energies of the body, awaken the wisdom of the heart and spirit, and enable you to teach yoga in an authentic, holistic and traditional way.

It gradually leads you from the gross to the subtle, refining the energies and the perception while learning practical and hands-on methods of asana alignment, sequencing, and much more. To teach yoga in an authentic way, you have to embody, integrate, and live yoga on all levels to the best of your capacity, with compassion for yourself and others. Teaching yoga may trigger a big shift in one's level of awareness, lifestyle, and the way you perceive yourselves and the world. This program guides you step by step through this process.

In integral Hatha yoga, you will integrate all the branches of yoga. Whereas, in most modern Hatha yoga styles, the focus is only on postures. Together with an in-depth focus on mastering the asanas and understanding the benefits and counter-indications, Akasha Retreat Center integrate as well chanting, pranayama, mudras, bandhas, and meditation in a Hatha yoga session.

Anatomy

As a medical doctor, fascia therapist, and yoga teacher, Rianne will share with you her passion and in-depth knowledge of the systems of the body involved in yoga, the functioning of the muscles, joints, and bones, prevention of injuries, fascia lines, and much more. The focus is both on theory and, most importantly, on how to practically adapt this knowledge in order to ensure a safe, transformative, and restorative practice.
