Through this Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, you will experience both - a blend of the Ashtanga form as well as the rich yoga knowledge as chronicled by some of the Worlds oldest and best recognized Institutions; all backed by a sound scientific basis.

The aim of our yoga teacher training is for everyone to be an accomplished and qualified yoga practitioner and teacher yet suited to a style compatible with his or her environment. We achieve this through micro groups (our batch size is no more than 10 persons) so that there is a personal guidance and a 1-on-1 feel at all times, which not only lays the foundation of being a great practitioner but also lessens the distractions that divert the mind from the serious path of yoga teaching.

The uniqueness of this course is the wonderful blend of the vigorous and intensive physical aspect with the sublime, deeper teachings and techniques handed down through some of the most esteemed yoga institutions. This allows for a smooth cultural blend of the West with the East.

The modules are carefully chosen to give you a thorough knowledge of the essential components of yoga asanas (of the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series), pranayama or breathing techniques, meditation, mudras, and bandhas. In addition the pioneering techniques of Bihar School through Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation or yogic sleep) and mudras or bandhas will add a whole new dimension to your learning experience.

Nagesh personally leads his teacher trainings and has gained increasing popularity due to his natural gift of an insightful teaching approach, wherein he can understand the individual and assess the individual capabilities. This, coupled with a compassionate approach, ensures that one is never felt left out or lagging behind.

The teaching modules are well organized and fit in perfectly with the requirement as set out by the 200-hour Yoga Alliance standards, making it a completely fulfilling course. You will be provided study material to facilitate your learning including the necessary textbooks for your training. In addition, you would have access to a mini library of relevant books which you can borrow to make your learning wholesome and fulfilling.

Course prerequisites

  • Existing yoga practitioners with sufficient level of physical fitness
  • Beginners, provided they have good physical stamina and fitness and pursuing a fitness routine
  • Please take specific medical advice before considering this course if you are suffering from a medical condition that may be detrimental to your learning.
  • You must be above 18 to participate in this course.
  • Persons over 55 would need to provide a specific undertaking regarding their physical capacity to undertake the course
  • This course may not be suitable if you are pregnant.
  • Upon selection, you will be required to fill a registration form alongwith the payment of a deposit as a non-refundable registration fee.

Yogacharya Karamjeet Singh

Yogacharya Karamjeet Singh has developed expertise in yoga teaching after rigorous yoga-practice. He believes in glare the humanity with yoga. He provides yoga related consults and also motivates to follow it.

Being related with a yogic Hindu family, he has grown with the goodness of it. His parents taught him different yogic styles. His mother taught him Bhakti yoga whilst his father nurtured him with the goodness of Karma and Hatha yoga.

He has sound knowledge of Yoga Philosophy, therapy and practice. He teaches his students how to heal, purify and harmonize five sheaths of existence, overcome physical and mental pain, sorrow and sufferings of humanity. He has been involved in serving people to realize the importance of Yoga to achieve peace, joy and harmony within and in society.

He has learnt basic, advance and Sahaj Samadhi courses at Art of Living, Mysore. He practiced Transcendental, Anapana Sati and Vipassana Meditation. From Mysore, he has gained knowledge of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. He has also learnt and practiced with a teachers of Bihar Yoga School. He now teaches various styles of yoga including Hot yoga, Flow yoga, Power yoga, Kundalini yoga, Laya/nada Yoga and Pilates. He himself believes in continuous learning and practicing Iyenger yoga.

Yogacharya Karamjeet has conducted yoga camps in China and has worked as yoga therapist for more than three years. He has worked in Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, Bengaluru, Yoga Tradition Trust, Bengaluru and Save Health Care Centre, Mysore. He is very active in promoting yoga and related therapies for mankind. He attends different conferences and seminars related with yoga and meditation from time to time. His only focus is on safe and comfortable classes for students. He promotes balance of mind and body through effective teachings and demonstrations. His rich experience has helped him gain deeper knowledge on human systems and various schools of yoga.

Yoga Guru Narender Arya is very much into Yoga research and participates in different seminars and events related with yoga. He has participated in Yoga for Youth, National Yoga Week. He has also attended yogathon event in Bengaluru.

Yoga- Guru Narender Arya is born on 14 July, 1986 in Shri Ganganagar ,Rajasthan. From his childhood, he has found his deep interest in Yoga and cultivated yogic interest. He studied Yoga and continued with Diploma in Yogic Science (one year) from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi. Then he completed his post graduate from Yoga SVYASA University, Bengaluru.

He has expertise in Classical Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga, stress management, meditation, Cyclic Meditation. Yoga-Guru Narender has firm belief in Yoga culture and its benefits. He promotes the goodness of Yoga and teaches the same to his students.

He has achieved gold medal in Himalaya Yoga Olympiad, Bengaluru. He has attended many international Conferences as such International conference on frontiers in Yoga Research & its applications, Bengaluru; Yoga for Health And Social Transformation, Patanjali Research Foundation ,Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India. He has also participated in Arogya Expo Bengaluru, India.

He has taken VIP classes in SVYASA University Bengaluru. He has conducted many yoga camps and worked as Yoga Teacher in Gurukula .He also has experienced the life of Ashram as he has stayed in Vaidik Ashram for a year and learnt different yoga techniques.

Rishikesh, at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas, has been revered as the world capital of yoga. The reason for this is that the sages who used to practice austerities in the Himalayas would come down periodically and establish their bases in the hostile months.

Also, pilgrims who wished to go on their pilgrimage deeper into the Himalayas would make this their starting point. This confluence also lead to the development of several Ashrams and Rishikesh came into being as the Ashram town.

Over the years Rishikesh has grown into a small but bustling town. Yet, the Ashram areas give the ambience of a small town village with tremendous spiritual energy. The mighty Ganges river flows by and the evenings are a delight to be on the banks with several aarti (lamp) ceremonies being held along the banks.

A teacher training program requires that indiscriminate and unhealthy eating be avoided. Unfortunately, this aspect is ignored by most schools, which results in students eating out and often falling sick due to poor hygiene standards. At Ajarya, we take care to include 3 fresh meals everyday within the course fee, so that students do not have to worry about where to plan their next meal.

Food is strictly vegetarian in line with the principles of yoga and sufficient variety is added, so that participants can experience different vegetables and fruits of the season. Food is fresh and made in hygienic conditions, which minimizes the occurrence of sickness. This single emphasis on fooding sets Ajarya Yoga Academy distinctively apart as a choice for a study stay.

There are also several eateries in Rishikesh. Food available is vegetarian in keeping with the spiritual leanings of the town and you will rarely find any alcohol. All of this makes for a unique cultural experience which delights most visitors to this place, including Westerners and people from all over the world.

There are other activities that visitors find truly enjoyable about Rishikesh. These include river rafting on the Ganges or camping by the riverside; short as well as longer mountain treks, as well as an experience at the world-famous Ananda Spa in the mountains.

There is also an Ayurveda and holistic healing centre within the premises for those who may like to experience Ayurveda massages and treatments. These are available for an additional fee.

    "There are many schools of yoga, in many countries, especially in the UK where I live. If you want a real Indian perspective of yoga, modern, and ancient, then it would be hard to beat Ajarya. Equal weight is given to every aspect of the 8 limbs (of Patanjali), so by the time the course ends, you will know about yoga and not just about asana with a bit of pranayama as do many yoga students and practitioners in the west, me included before the course. Modern Ashtanga Vinyasa practice of asana is at the core of the teaching, though not exclusively, so it will support you if you have a knowledge and practice in the Ashtanga primary series. In addition, the single room accommodation is good, and there are two practice rooms, one on the roof with beautiful views of the Himalayan foothills. There is an Ayurveda spa in the hotel, with good quality (and fair priced) Panchakarma massage and treatments available to smooth away excess aches."

    "The month I spent with Ajarya Yoga Academy was the most incredible month of my life. It was so intense and exhausting, but really inspirational. We had 5.30 a.m. starts, six days a week. We had a two hour yoga class and an hour of Pranayama before breakfast, then classes on Indian philosophy, Sanskrit, the schools of yoga and the Hindu scriptures, before breaking for lunch. We would spend the afternoon learning about anatomy, physiology, meditation, prayers, and teaching methodology, then lead classes ourselves before dinner. After dinner, we'd have assignments, research projects, essays, revision for tests, etc, so we'd only manage about five hours sleep a night. "

    "Then on our day off, we'd be in reception for 7 a.m. for various excursions, like trekking, visiting temples for Arti ceremonies, and white water rafting down the Ganges. It was literally non-stop! The food was delicious. We were fed vast amounts of the freshest, healthiest Indian food three times a day. The Academy is in the foothills of the Himalayas and the whole town felt like a very spiritual place. We had daily teachings from a Swami who guided us with meditation, the Bhagavadgita and other scriptures, and the spiritual principles of yoga. I would say I learned a lot more about the spiritual side of yoga by doing the course in the foothills of the Hilmalayas than I would have done doing the course elsewhere."

    "The team at Ajarya are highly skilled in the field of yoga. Everyone was so open and friendly in sharing their knowledge and all the training has really deepened my yoga practice and prepared me to share these teachings with future students. The program exceeded my expectations and it was truly a life changing experience. I thought the staff was excellent. Everyone was highly qualified in their area and I got a lot of take a ways from the training. I think I am somewhat ready to teach because I still need to do some more practicing, but the team definitely gave me all the knowledge to get there."

    "As far as the manual goes, I think what might be helpful would be to include a written explanation of all the adjustments and also sample class plans that may vary from the primary series. Also, the accommodations were adequate, but it might be helpful to mention to students regarding bringing any ice packs or hot packs for sore muscles because it is not something you can get here. Also, the food started becoming a bit monotonous after a while, but it was always made well."

    "The main teacher Nagesh was extremely open to our suggestions and took them into consideration whenever possible. In one occasion, I suggested that it would be good to study the Bhavgabad Gita, and within 24 hours, he organized a fabulous teacher to come in and talk to us about it. This class was hugely inspirational for me and I would always be grateful to him for that. I have also learnt a lot from his humble approach and respect and love for yoga. The pranayama and meditation teacher was very inspirational for me also."

    "I have learnt not only simple techniques of pranayama and meditation, appropriate to my level of experience, but more importantly I have learnt how important it is as a practice and it will now form part of my daily yoga practice alongside asanas. The visiting teacher we had for the Gita was incredible, a gem really. It would be amazing if he can be employed, alongside Nagesh, to cover some of the areas of the course relevant to yoga philosophy. The setting of the course was excellent. The staff at the hotel is really nice, food is okay, and the yoga shala is good also. It has been a great experience for me as a whole to stay in Rishikesh for 4 weeks, and I am hoping to get the chance to come back in the future. Thank you."
