Nestled amongst the French Alps, lies Ahimsa Retreats. This concept retreat was designed by two good friends who witnessed the transformative effects yoga, diet and mediation can have on everyday life. They invite you to withdraw from the outside world, turn off your internet, put down your phone, and open your eyes as you are led through fast paced Ashtanga flow on the sun drenched decking, guided walks around our local lake, sunset hikes, and outdoor yin yoga sessions, with views to capture your mind and heart.

Ahimsa Retreats have chosen a stunningly located chalet located on the outskirts of morzine, in a little hamlet called Vallee De La Manche. Chalet Chambertin is perfect for getting away from the demands of life and easy to de-stress in this idyllic hideaway.

The bedrooms are situated surrounding a welcoming central lounge area, which is perfect for relaxing in the evenings and chatting over the day. They are all equipped with modern en-suites, comfortable beds and wood surroundings. The en-suites have luxurious Neils Yards toiletries, to bathe in. The accommodation is based on two or three persons sharing a room. Private rooms are also available, with a single supplement price.

On the ground floor, you will find a spacious and light dining area,that opens out onto the front patio, offering the chance for beautiful alfresco dining and the cosy TV area, used for our evening entertainment. Who could forget the relaxing outdoor hot tub to ease the muscles and the indoor sauna area to cleanse the skin after an energising yoga session.

Day 1

  • Arrive in resort and settle in to the chalet
  • Chalet orientation and introduction speech
  • A wonderful Yin yoga session, to relax and stretch after the journey

  • Relaxation in the evening, with a small optional meditation

Day 2

  • Morning tea
  • A reviving Ashtanga yoga session, to awaken the body ready for the day

Day 3

Coming from an injury prone background Katie doesn't just teach a standard ‘one size fits all’ yoga, she takes a strong interest in adaption and ensuring people work within their own practice, developing techniques and learning tips which can be taken into every class. Injury recovery is a strong interest with katie as is mental recovery.

Now teaching Ashtanga flow and Yin yoga classes which focus on not only building strength and lean muscle, opening up tight areas of our body but also look to allow you to find the mental benefits commonly associated with yoga. Time is given at the start at end of each class to sit and simply breathe. Allowing time to turn inward and calm a busy mind, the classes are challenging, lighthearted, and have a strong base suitable for all levels.

This retreat will take place in the middle of the Mountains in a hamlet of Morzine, with sun drenched decking areas for yoga and picturesque alpine scenery on all sides. Morzine is a beautiful town nestled within the valleys of the Porte du Soleil area in the French Alps. It's a picturesque and traditional resort, sporting panoramic views of the infamous Mont Blanc, located in the region of Haute Savoie, and on the French border with Switzerland. Ideally placed right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Morzine is the gateway to a marvelous summer playground. You will never forget the miles of open spaces surrounding the meadows, from where you can head off into the middle of nowhere.

The retreat is run on a vegetarian and locally sourced menu, with morning fresh lemon / mint tea and fruit bowl, ample brunches, and plentiful two course evening meals, along with mid-afternoon, healthy sweet treats. Enjoy evenings listening, as Heidi explains simple changes you can introduce into your diet to gain more energy, clear your mind, and ease digestive issues.

At Ahimsa Retreats, you are served tasty vegetarian meals, using seasonal based and locally sourced ingredients. They have tried to re-define healthy, by allowing afternoon treats and puddings, without worrying about calorie counting, enhancing your stay and filling your body with renewed energy.

A typical menu

  • Morning: fruit bowl, lemon / fresh mint tea
  • Brunch: banana smoothie, sweet potato pancakes, scrambled eggs with slow roasted tomatoes, leafy green salad, homemade kale and spelt bread, fresh fruit salad / natural yoghurt / bio muesli
  • Afternoon snack: soy yoghurt and fresh mint tzatziki with carrot bars, raw brownies
  • Dinner: pumpkin, cranberry and red onion tagine, Moroccan spiced couscous, homemade flat bread, beetroot Hummus, key lime pie with lemon coulis

Daytime activities will give you the chance to see some of the areas most breath-taking scenery and be one with the natural beauty of the mountains and lakes. %Other activities include mountain hikes, river walks and lake fun (paddle boarding / kayaking).

There are also optional inspirational films or nutritional chats offered, or any other relaxing activities of your choice. A hot tub and sauna are there to soothe your aching muscles. In addition, a range of other lovely treatments are available as an extra.

Please book your flight to arrive at Geneva Airport (GVA). Ahimsa Retreats will pick you up from the airport. The pick-up is included in the price.
