You will stay for three nights at a beautiful country house in Ambleside with amazing views and stunning walks on its doorstep. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery.

The house is set in a beautiful location in the heart of the Lake District overlooking extensive gardens with spectacular views. It is luxuriously decorated, with stylish bedrooms, bathrooms, and public areas. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing and with a feeling of space. It is the perfect place to switch off and take some time out for yourself.

The house is surrounded by 80 acres of gardens comprising of patio gardens, a vegetable area, wildflower lawns, orchards, woodland, and grazing land. There are 13 luxury en-suite bedrooms in the main house, with a choice of standard, superior, and suites which are freshly decorated in a traditional and contemporary style. Each room has a bath or walk in shower, crisp linen, pretty views, and a TV or DVD player.

The public rooms of the house are there for you to relax in. There is always a quiet corner to stretch out in, and in the colder months, a wood burning stove will keep you toasty warm. The house invites you to borrow their selection of books, music, and DVDs.

The yoga studio is in a separate building next to the main house. It is glass-fronted with spectacular views, wooden floors, and lots of room to stretch out. It is a truly inspiring space to practice yoga.

Discover, explore, and get inspired with these activity and yoga retreats. This will be a high energy retreat, so be prepared for an energizing hike on the Saturday of the retreat. Work with qualified mountain guides and they will gauge the group's level, so do not be scared of not being able to keep up.

Prepare to be challenged a bit, too. The guides will lead you over hills and mountains, alongside rivers and waterfalls, to be able enjoy the breathtaking views of the Lake District. From Old Man Coniston, Langdale Pikes, or Lingmoor, these are just a few of the hikes you can choose from.

On the Saturday of the retreat, you will enjoy a guided hike with qualified mountain guides taking you to some of the most breathtaking spots in the Lakes. Sunday can either be a day of rest to make the most of the gorgeous house and grounds that you are staying and have a treatment, or be active again and try horse riding, walk to Tarn Howes, or visit Lake Windermere.

It is your retreat, so take some well-deserved time out for you, and listen to your body and mind. If you need to rest, then take some time out for you. Of course, you do not have to join in, it is up to you if you prefer to kick back and rest at the retreat.

Later, she arrived in the UK and began teaching in earnest in 2002 largely in the Lake District, Cumbria. Since then, she has qualified as a senior yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance UK, and currently is the owner and director of Continuum Yoga Studio in Windermere. Her style of teaching encourages people of all ages and abilities to explore their personal full range of movement between mindful Yin practice and beautiful, flowing Yang sequences.

It is also only three and a half hours away from London on the train; its easy access makes it a mountain getaway closer to home. The Lake District is England’s largest national park and home to Scafell Pike, Lake District's largest mountain.

Enjoying healthy and flavorsome vegetarian food is an integral part of active yoga retreats. The price of the retreat includes daily wholesome veggie breakfasts, packed lunches that you can take on your excursions, and wholesome evening meals daily.

The food is provided by the experts at the bed and breakfast, who also have a few vegetarian restaurants in the Lake District. Breakfasts are a hit, with a huge choice of yogurts, toasted nuts and seeds, jams, soaked dried fruits, cereals, eggs, toast, tea, and coffee. Your packed lunch will be comprised of healthy home baked breads, and for supper, enjoy flavors inspired from their vegetarian restaurant in Ambleside.

You will find your meals hearty, warming, and healthy after an active day of hiking to restore your energy and fill your tummy. There are alternative milks, and the organizer can also support any dietary needs.

Things to do (optional)

From Beatrix Potter to Lake Windermere, sailing on the Lakes or hiking and climbing in the falls or just wandering around Ambleside, there is always something for everyone in the Lake District.

From the retreat center, you can walk to Tarn Howes. There are lakes with surrounding forest and waterfalls. It is a very popular picturesque place to visit. Walking takes 20 minutes to get there, and you can spend as long as you like there. Hiking, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, horse riding, or climbing can be arranged for you. Lots of people especially enjoy horse riding.

Lake Windermere is nice to visit and take the boat across, or you can also visit Ambleside. However, you will need a car. If you have come by train, then the organizer can arrange a taxi or talk with your fellow yogis and see if you can arrange to all go together in car share.

Massage and holistic treatments are also available for an additional cost. Highly experienced therapists are on hand to soothe away your aches and pains. Choose from an array of wonderful different massages, facials, Reiki, depending on your retreat and therapists available. Prices are 38 GBP for 30 minutes and 65 GBP for one hour.

How to get there

Arrival by train

The nearest station is Windermere. It is about nine miles from the retreat. The journey from London is about four hours. Train departs London Blackfriars at 10:49 a.m. and arrives at Windermere 02:39 p.m. On the way back, train departs Windermere at 12:48 p.m. and arrives at London Blackfriars at 04:53 p.m.

Please book these trains or similar arrival schedule if coming from a different direction so that AdventureYogi can organize a taxi share for you and and save you some money. If trains are booked in advance, the fares start at 47 GBP.

Cancellation Policy

  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 56 days before arrival.
