Retreat to the Oxfordshire countryside and escape the normal hectic New Year’s celebrations. Guests love the Bicester venue for its grand, yet incredibly homely feel and love this New Year's Eve retreat because it is a chance to pause, reset, be thankful for the year behind them and set intentions for the year ahead! This year, alongside guided walks, twice daily yoga, and the intentions workshops, a cookery workshop is also added so you can take a little piece of the retreat home with you. Start 2018 feeling like your true self: rested, rejuvenated and ready to take on the year with a renewed sense of purpose.
The accommodation is a beautiful family-owned stately home that has been refurbished to a beautiful standard stay-in, keeping its original features. There are no en-suite bedrooms because of this.
The rooms are sumptuously decorated to a very high standard. They are all spacious, luxuriously decorated in amazing fabrics, and have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. It has a classic feel so you will feel spoiled yet it also feels homely so you can completely relax and switch off.
The house has a huge, welcoming lounge with cozy sofas and an open fire. The dining room is light and airy with fabulous views of the grounds. There are fascinating paintings and fresh flowers everywhere. Built in 1908, in striking sandstone, it stands grandly at the end of a long drive flanked with lime trees. It is a world away from the everyday and is a place that will leave you feeling relaxed and positive.
It is a family home, a wedding venue, and now a yoga retreat venue, and so it continues to bring people together. It was bought in 1979 by the same family who own it now and have carefully restored the house and manicured its beautiful gardens to its present glory.
The retreat is very private and the yoga studio looks out onto the terrace, gardens, and extensive countryside. It is the perfect place to relax, switch off, and feel that you are being looked after for a relaxing and revitalizing weekend yoga break.
On this New year yoga retreat, the classes are suitable for all abilities, from beginners to intermediate and advanced levels. Everyone is welcome. There is a range of inspiring and experienced teachers who are well practised at adapting the class for everyone’s level.
Whether it be Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Yin or others, all classes cover pranayama, asanas and meditation to help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and to promote a peaceful mind. Morning sessions are a more dynamic practice and the evening sessions are gentle with lots of stretches, meditation and relaxation.
The retreat begins at 4 p.m. on the 28th of December with time to settle in before the first yoga class at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve has it’s own special New Year schedule. The New Year schedule is extra special and a surprise! On booking, AdventureYogi will send you the full new year itinerary. The retreat ends at 12 p.m. on Monday morning after a yoga class and breakfast.

During this retreat, you will be served three daily delicious vegetarian meals. AdventureYogi believes that retreats should be nurturing in every way. So their vitality chefs will create tasty, healthy, vegetarian meals for you from local, seasonal produce. All of the food are gently detoxing and they cater to various dietary preferences. Guests are always impressed by the creative, flavorsome dishes and that is because the food is just as important to as the yoga.
Adventure Yoga's own highly experienced therapists are on hand to soothe away your aches and pains. Choose from an array of wonderful different massages, facials, and Reiki, depending on your retreat and therapists available. These are available for 38 GBP for 30 minutes and 65 GBP for one hour.
From London Marylebone station to Bicester North, it takes one hour. Book early for cheaper tickets. It is a comfortable, fast service with no changes. For those coming from other directions, please time your train to arrive and depart around the same time as the recommended trains from London, so that Adventure Yogi can organize taxi share. The retreat is only 15 minutes away and costs about 12 to 20 GBP depending on the day as bank holidays are more expensive.
Adventure Yogi will try and group you together to make the taxi a lower cost for you. Adventure Yogi recommends taking London Marylebone on Friday which departs at 2:43 p.m. and arrives at Bicester North at 3:42 p.m. On Sunday, you could take Bicester North which departs at 4:00 p.m. and arrives at London Marylebone at 5:05 p.m. On Monday, you could take Bicester North which departs at 12:16 p.m. and arrives at London Marylebone at 1:08 p.m.
