This retreat in Costa Rica will give you an opportunity to enjoy a bit of paradise on the breathtaking Osa Peninsula. You will enjoy your stay in a place situated right by the beach and filled with fragrant flowers, exotic birds, and at least three different species of monkeys. Experience yoga practices on a recently constructed yoga deck, under the palm trees, and overlooking the ocean. The only things that will distract you are monkeys, iguanas, exotic birds, or hunting sounds of the jungle and ocean. Join the gang on this escapade!
Ojo del Mar is an eco-retreat nestled in and part of the beauty that surrounds it. Ojo del Mar's airy, elevated, artfully crafted collection of cabinas are as close to nature as you can get. They are privately set among beautiful tropical gardens and trails on the property allow further exploration of tropical fruits and flowers and of the colorful wildlife species. You will not find doors here or many other things typical of a hotel or lodge. Instead, you will find yourself alive to the sounds of the jungle and very much a part of it.
Your lodgings are built by one of the owners, a bamboo artist, so make sure you bring the camera as you will want to take some shots of the structures and the grounds. The resort is “off the grid”. There is enough power for the kitchen, some lights, water pump and charging your phones and cameras. There is Wi-Fi at the Casa Grande (the dining place and hang out space). Since energy is very limited, do not plan to “work on your stuff” – this is just for checking quick emails and such. Remember why you are going there!
The accommodation has lots of hammocks to rest in and some communal areas to sit and socialize or just read. Each cabina has its own mosaic-floored outdoor garden shower and sink. All standard cabinas and beach cubes have access to a shared hot shower bathroom. Meanwhile, all superior cabinas have private indoor bathroom, hot shower, lights (solar-powered), and king size beds.
You may want to stay the night before in San Jose before your arrival at the retreat on January 14. The yoga program will begin on January 15 in the morning and there will be no yoga class on the day of departure, January 21.
Your yoga classes will be led by Basia Going and a guest teacher. The classes are suitable for all levels and will be held twice a day with one afternoon off. Between the yoga classes and meals, you may relax at the retreat - there are plenty of hammocks and other hangout places.
Basia explored different paths and teachers, and completed numerous trainings ranging from strong physical work to more subtle exploration of the body and mind. After over 20 years of experimentation, she uses in her practice and teaching what she believes works. At times, it is physically demanding lots of stabilizing and conditioning. Other times, it is soft and subtle. She uses lots of therapeutic work focusing on common problems, perhaps in an “uncommon” way in the yoga practice.
Your retreat will take place at Ojo del Mar located in Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica.
You will be served daily food made from fresh ingredients on the spot. There is a bar on the premises and another bar / restaurant nearby where you can order some awesome margaritas.
On this retreat, Chris Ray will join you and be available for appointments for a mind-body blowing 3-hour Thai massage at an additional cost.
Please book your flight to arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in Costa Rica. From there, you will need to take a local plane (Sansa Airlines or Nature Air) to fly to Puerto Jiménez Airport (PJM) in Osa Peninsula, it is less than an hour flight.
