Yoga Is a wonderful tool to unleash the inner child within us, allowing us to play in ways we never thought about. As adults we are rarely with both our hands and feet on the ground. Yoga is one way of letting ourselves to be that child. The way I teach consist of powerful inversion exercises and gentle vinyasa classes, combined with meditation, mantra chants and pranayama breathing techniques. In the past 3 years I found the passion for “The world upside down”. The inversions I do everyday, taught me how to overcome fear, not being afraid of falling 1000 times,I will get up smiling and try agai

"Not what was advertised."
The location of the retreat was in the Umbrian country side about 50 mins from Spoleto. It is set in an old monestary which was had beautiful original frescoes on the wall. The accomodation was comfortable and clean. Unfortunately there was no pool area as it had been dismantled and the structure was left in the car park. There were a few sun beds in this area however not very welcoming. There was a sitting area along the small path and in front of the room where you could find some sun to read and relax.
The food was healthy and nice. Breakfast and a few lunches were served on the communal table where you could chat and talk to the everyone. As the night was getting cooler Dinner was served from the small kitchen and you sat in the siting room with your plate on your lap. It was quite crowded and several people had to sit on the floor. They provided some local red wine from a huge glass container. There was also proseco and white wine available. The day trips to Spoleto and Assisi were great. The thermal baths were OK.
Yoga was good and the instructor tried very hard to create a friendly safe environment. We explored the local area by ourselves and were surprised we didn't get lost with no written guides for the hiking tracks. I loved the diverse group of people I met and how they supported each other in some times interesting situations.

"A little bit of heaven...."
On our first day of the retreat we went for a walk to look at the plentiful herbs and flowers. Within a few minutes we saw flowering plants with three different types of butterflies on them. I had one of those awe struck moments and couldn't help saying out loud " this is enchanting"..that enchanting feeling didn't leave for the whole of my time there. I'm a bit new to yoga and felt very lucky to have had Emily as our teacher. She introduced us to different types of yoga and wonderful meditation sessions. Best of all, we did our yoga in the small 15th century church next to the house. It is built on ancient Estruscan ruins...so peaceful. All the meals were served al fresco so we could take advantage of the peaceful mountain views. Each vegetarian meal was so delicious. There were several of us who came away with recipes to try at home. Last but not least by any means, were Tess and Kevin, the owners. They took us Assisi, Spoleto and a few local restaurants where we continued to eat fresh food from the Umbrian "green belt". What I loved most however, was the company of Tess and Kevin..Both were there to meet any needs we had. I felt I had met a spiritual guide (she's a trauma specialist) in Tess. She was so easy to talk to and would stop whatever she was doing to sit and chat. Each of us was offerered complementary talk sessions with her. I felt so rejuvenated and at peace when I left with new information and resources. A treasured experience. Thank to you both.

I had a fabulous time at San Flaviano. Tess and Kevin are very warm and generous hosts, which made my time at the retreat feel like a week in a relative’s home. It was fantastic getting some much-needed peace away from my life in London. The food was amazing!! I was so relaxed that I fell asleep at the spa. We saw many lovely parts of Umbria and liked walking on the surrounding hills.
Anita, the yoga teacher is great. She introduced us to a lot of elements from different yoga styles and is very mindful of anatomy and health of the body. Her classes were relaxed and fun and I would happily be her regular student. A lovely break!

Abundance - Yoga Retreat Italy
We spent 6 days in October 2016 at the Yoga Abundance retreat in San Flaviano. Everything about the place, the activities and the food was beyond our expectations - living and practicing Yoga in a restored church among lovely green mountains was spectacular. Tess and Kevin are wonderful hosts, attentive to all individual needs. Tess is a superb cook (thanks, Tess, for the recipes and spices, we are putting them to good use!). Kevin led a very helpful stress and trauma healing workshop. Both of them knew exactly where to take us or point us out for a variety of beautiful excursions.
The Yoga lessons with Anita were exactly what both of us needed - Anita is a competent and sensitive teacher, with the impressive ability to combine patience, support in developing new skills, and making everything fun and relaxing at the same time.

San Flaviano is a labor of love—not only in the way this ancient healing site has been lovingly restored, but also in the love and generosity that Tess and Kevin bring to their healing work with people who visit their retreat. They put so much loving effort and thoughtfulness into every aspect of the retreat. The meals were delicious and plentiful, and yoga with the amazing Eve Pettitt in the restored church was simply such a luxurious and eye-opening treat. There is also the opportunity to get wonderful body treatments. You will be very well taken care of at this retreat, which is bursting with warmth, laughter and loving care. This place has a special energy that you can feel immediately, and if you are open to it, you will find yourself slowly transformed.

For anybody out there (especially men) please don’t overlook yoga! I am an ex rugby player and prior to this trip did not think yoga was ‘my kind of thing’. I went along with my partner to a yoga retreat in the mountains in Italy.
Anita Sharma was my yoga teacher, she was absolutely fantastic with making me feeling welcome and in no terms at all did I feel out of place in what turned out to be a group of eight people that all had some experience in yoga versus my none. The whole experience was very calm and relaxing as well as being able to have fun along the way.
For any Retreat out there that is considering Anita to work with I can honestly say that if you overlook her, you will have missed a trick. Anita was kind, caring and very helpful and will be a great ambassador for any retreat.
