Himalayas Yoga Teacher Training Course in India

The theme of the yoga teacher training course is learning the art of teaching yoga in its totality. In ancient days, yoga was taught since childhood. All the postures were presented to children with Vinyasa flow. It was used to motivate children into practicing yoga during their stay in Gurukula, the mystery schools, so that they can just touch and go, in and out of a pose, feel playful, practice jump back-jump through, forward bend, back bend, twists, inversions, sitting poses, and rest of it without being bored. This was the beginning of their journey into yogic life.

Accommodation will be arranged in a single occupancy room (or sharing and non-sharing basis, depending on the number of students). The room is facilitated with hot shower, attached bathrooms, and western toilet.

Abhinam Yoga Center India Yoga Teacher Training Program

The 100-hour yoga teacher training course is part of the 200-hour yoga teacher training offered at Abhinam Yoga Center. This course is intended for students who do not have the time to complete the 200-hour course in the traditional four weeks. Instead, Abhinam Yoga Center offers you the opportunity to complete the 200-hour yoga teacher training in two sections. These two sections must be completed within the year of commencement and the certificate will be awarded to the student once all of the required hours, assignments, and examinations are successfully completed.


The objective is to provide beginners and experienced yoga students with strong technical and theoretical experience. This will enable them to perform Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga primary series with perfection and correct alignment. The course will equip the future teachers to be completely autonomous and ready to run their own yoga classes at the highest standards.

Admission requirements

All that is expected from you before coming to the teacher training is that you have a regular practice of Ashtaga Vinyasa yoga (2-3 times a week is enough) and you are familiar with the names of asanas in the primary series.

Course structure

At Abhinam Yoga Center's teacher training, students will learn a unique combination of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and Iyengar alignment principles. This approach has an ultimate goal of practicing injury free yoga.

The course syllabus follows Yoga Alliance 200hr YTTC standards, and includes learning the asanas of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series with an emphasis on how to teach in an injury free way to all age groups. This course will also have elements of therapeutic yoga as devised by MR. BKS Iyengar.

  • Training and practice (50 hours): Asana, pranayama, kriya, chanting, mantra, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques.
  • Methodology (10 hours): Principles of demonstration, assisting and correcting, observation, instruction, different teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, as well as business aspects of teaching yoga.
  • Anatomy and physiology (10 hours): Human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). This includes both theoretical knowledge of both systems and their practical application within yoga (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc.).
  • Yoga philosophy, lifestyle, and ethics for yoga teachers (10 hours): The study of yoga philosophies as well as yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers (Patanjali yoga Sutra’s)
  • Practicum (5 hours): Practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching, hearing and giving feedback as well as assisting in other students classes.
  • Assignments (15 hours): Learning teaching techniques that are based on literature of teaching methodology, studying and writing your own reflections and understandings of these, watching videos of yoga masters, designing your own class, group discussions, and examinations on knowledge of content.

Since all students are suggested to eat vegetarian food during the course, because vegetarianism is part of Abhinam Yoga Center's yoga philosophy, you will be served three yogi vegetarian meals per day. Except for Saturdays and Sundays, the institute is closed and students are free to do any kind of personal activities during this day.

  • Morning breakfast: Porridge (a dish consisting of oatmeal or another meal or cereal boiled in water or milk) or muesli with yogurt
  • Lunch: Soup with bread, salad, and eggs
  • Dinner: Indian thali which consists of rice, lentils (a high-protein pulse which is dried and ten soaked and cooked prior to eating), and some cooked vegetables, or khichdi which is a yogic, ayurvedic and sattvic food, made from rice, vegetables and lentils. It is considered a light and nutritious food.

Please book your flight to arrive at Gaggal Airport (DHM). Abhinam Yoga Center will be pleased to arrange the airport transfer for you, at an additional cost. The best way for travelers to reach Dharamsala by air is to travel from New Delhi Airport. Indira Gandhi Delhi Airport (DEL) is connected to almost all major destinations and all major cities in India. Daily flights are operated from New Delhi to Gaggal Airport.
