Certifications

Students who complete their online training before December 31, 2021 are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

How the training works

The training will be held online via Zoom. You will have 40 days of live sessions and you will receive 40 days with the instruction of yoga. There will be 170 contact hours (live session hours or coaching hours) and 30 non-contact hours (self-study hours).

Structure of the program

Week 1

  • Mantra chanting: Yogena Chittasya (Patanjali mantra) - 5 minutes
  • Pranayama
  • Meditation practice

Asana practice

  • Standing posture to learn the foundation of standing asanas and about the position of the foot as well as learning the engagement
  • Seated pose: you learn in seated pose to open your groins, as well as sacrum to bring more ease and flexibility and stillness
  • Classical Surya namaskar (Hatha)

Philosophy

  • What is yoga?
  • Different paths of yoga?
  • Patanjali Yoga Sutra explanation

Anatomy

Types of joints, skeletal system, yoga anatomy, muscular system, classification of yoga, shoulder vs spine, stages in yoga asana, femur, proportion, orientation, connective tissue, the angle of the neck, the pelvis, aims and objectives of asana, general guidelines. Vinyasa practice - the flow of asana of the above from standing and sitting posture.

Teaching methodology

  • How to teach and correct the students
  • How to emphasize
  • Posture correction, alignment, and adjustment
  • How to use blocks, straps, and bolsters to modify the asana?

Non-contact hours: students can use this hour for self-practice and study or Aadi Yoga School will also make a workshop with videos on anatomy or Vinyasa asanas after completing 29 days of the program there will be 10 more days of a non-contact hour where one can ask any questions and doubts.

Week 2

Mantra chanting: Patananjali mantra and Shanti mantras for 5 minutes. Pranayama: surya bedi, bastrilka, kapala bati, brahmari, and meditation

Asana practice: seated poses

  • Janu sirsasana
  • Ardha badha padma paschimauttana asana
  • Triangle mukha pada paschimauttana asana
  • Marichyasana
  • Upavishta kona asana
  • Paschima uttana asana
  • Inversions and counter poses

Philosophy

  • Patanjali yoga sutra continuation
  • Ashta Anga Sutra of Patanjali
  • Vinyasa practice on the above-given asana in the evenings. Self-practice time.

Week 3

Mantra chanting: Patananjali mantra and shanti mantras for 5 minutes. Pranayama: ujjayi, anulom-vilom, nadi showman, and meditation.

Asana practice

  • Forward bend
  • Backbends

Ashtanga and Vinyasa practice

  • Surya namaskar a and b in ashtanga tradition (primary series of Ashtanga)
  • Vinyasa with different asanas
  • Vinyasa sequence on standing pose
  • Vinyasa sequence on sirsasana
  • Sequence on sarvangasana
  • Sequence on marichyasana

Philosophy

  • Patanjali yoga sutra continuation

Week 4: Practice all the asana and pranayama

  • Mantra chanting
  • Pranayama - all two weeks of pranayama practice (assessment on pranayama)

Asana practice

  • Assessments: practical exam on asana and written exam on philosophy

This teacher training is held online. Aadi Yoga School is located in Rishikesh, India (GMT+5.30), and they will live-stream yoga classes via Zoom according to GMT+0 and GMT-4 time zones which you can participate from the comfort of your home.
