The retreat will consist of yoga, guided meditation sessions, as well as exercises to raise your emotional awareness. The meditative practices and the guidance of the teacher will provide the space needed for inner work, which will enliven your hearts and re-sensitize you to life. Shared double and triple rooms will be provided. The retreat takes place in a luxury villa in the south of Spain with a swimming pool, groomed gardens, and comfortable communal spaces with room for privacy. The villa has four bedrooms, one of which is reserved for staff. The remaining three rooms are for participants, two of which have double beds for friends or couples and the third room has three single beds.

A Mindful Practice Meditation and Detox Yoga Retreat Spain Program

This retreat explores what is in the way of your inner calm and also focuses on cleansing your system from toxins and strengthening your bodies. You will re-establish the connection with the "self" and your bodies by allowing inner conflict, restlessness or tension to surface, and then dissipate. An underlying quietness and peacefulness that exists within naturally can emerge because of the yoga and inner work.

The retreat will consist of yoga, guided meditation sessions, interactive sessions, and exercises to explore how you can create a deeper comfort within yourselves and more ease and naturalness with others. There will also be some time to go for walks and relax in the outside swimming pool. Beginners as well as experienced mediators and yoga practitioners are welcome on this retreat.

Siggy Verelst is originally from Belgium but has studied and worked in Melbourne, Australia for a large part of her life. She has a Master degree in film making and psychotherapy and a Bachelors degree in fine arts. Being committed to her inner work and self-development, she has immersed herself in meditative practices from various traditions since a young age. Today, she teaches meditation and yoga Nidra in addition to having her own private practice as a psychotherapist, in which she uses her humanistic, body-oriented, and mindfulness approach to counsel people in a holistic manner.
Marthe Verswijver
Marthe has been practicing yoga for eight years. She discovered the medicinal power of yoga while struggling with an auto-immune disease in which yoga proved to be the only thing that gave relief. She started her yoga journey with an in depth detox Vinyasa training in Thailand after which she moved into an Ashtanga yoga practice, studying Mysore style with Paul Dallaghan, Manju Jois, Damien de Bali and Sarah Powers. Because yoga has been a journey back to health, she continues to study the effects of each asana on the body and the organs, which is reflected in the way she teaches.

Retreat location

This retreat will take place in Benahavis, Spain. Benahavis is a Spanish mountain village between Marbella, Estepona, and Ronda, seven kilometers from the coast in the southern Mediterranean coast of Spain, in Andalusia. The town itself is surrounded by natural parkland and still has a modicum of a secluded, cozy feel. The closest airport is Málaga Airport (AGP), which is 45 minutes away.

Three meals will be served to you per day. All meals will be vegetarian and will have a gluten free option. The recipes used will be designed according to Ayurvedic principles and will have an underlying focus to detox the liver.

The liver is the organ responsible for the smooth flow of emotions as well as energy (Qi). It is the organ that is most affected by excess stress or turbulent or conflicting emotions so in today's society and busy lives, it is usually under pressure, hence the liver is always happy with some support.

All meals aim to provide good nutrition, balance and good taste. Other special dietary requests such as vegan, dairy free, and wheat free can also be catered for.

Things to do (optional)

There will be some time to go for walks in nature and connect to the desert-like, rural landscape you find yourselves in. You could make the most of your trip by combining it with an exploration of the area before or after the retreat. The town of Benahavis has winding narrow streets and a picturesqueness, which almost makes it seem like a specially-created film set.

You could visit the ruined 11th century castle of Montemayor. This Arab stronghold squats on top of the highest mountain in the locality. It is a strenuous climb to visit the ruins, but views of the coastline are beautiful and worthwhile the effort.

Benahavis also has the highest concentration of high class restaurants in the region. You could pay a visit to the beaches along the Costa de Sol or drive up to the spectacular mountains of the Serrania de Ronda.

Driving directions from Malaga

  • Take motorway A7 towards Algeciras / Cadiz for 70 kilometers.
  • Take exit 172 towards Ronda.
  • Follow directions for Benahavis for eight kilometers.

Driving directions from Algeciras

  • Take motorway AP7 towards Malaga for 54 kilometers.
  • Take exit 157 towards Estepona / Malaga.
  • After 12 kilometers, take exit towards Benahavis.
  • Follow directions towards Benahavis.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Málaga Airport (AGP). Transfer from the airport is included. A Mindful Practice will pick you up from the airport.

Arrival by bus

From Malaga, take a bus to Marbella, then another bus to San Pedro de Alcantara, and then a taxi to Benahavis. Alternatively, from Malaga take the Granada - La Linea / Algeciras line to San Pedro de Alcantara, and then a taxi to Benahavis.

Cancellation Policy

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 2 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
