Eat.Pray.Move Croatia Yoga Retreat Program


Yoga

Daily meditation and yoga classes will be offered in a way to relax, stimulate, and help guests grow in their own personal practice. Classes are open to all levels, beginner to practiced, and can range from gentle, meditative, and more vigorous ashtanga styles.* Style and class levels will be determined and moulded to fit participating students' needs, and with a small intimate retreat class size, students will be able to get personalized attention and comfortability to deeply explore their practice. Classes will be held in a open space inside the villa and/or in an outdoor space under the shade of the garden trees.

Certified yoga instructor, Erin Lewis, will facilitate the classes, helping each student focus on improving their practice and gaining new insights into their bodies and movements. She's studied various types of yoga disciplines since 1998, concentrating on the Ashtanga discipline since 2008. She received her teacher certification in Florence, Italy and now she combines powerful movements with more anatomical-based core vinyasa flow and restorative movement in her personal practice and teaching style.

Excursions


Guests will not only enjoy the villa and encompassing estate, but also the beauty of the bay, ocean, and nearby towns including Dubrovnik. There will be several day trips to local places such as Dubrovnik Old Town, Lopud Island with ferry ride, Konavle Region, wine tasting  and vineyard visit as well as a spa day.

Zaton Bay is a perfect location to retreat and get away from the day-to-day. Located just minutes away from the bustling excitement of the city of Dubrovnik and it's Old Town, the bay allows for a more quiet repose to enjoy the natural beauty, the waters, mountains, and vistas. Everyday we'll get to experience new sites, sounds, tastes, and experiences of the region and Croatian culture.

Day trips will allow guests to add arts, culture, adventure, and natural beauty to their retreat experience. Trips may include visits to towns and small villages in the region, as well as outdoor activities. A gorgeous spa day is included where guests can swim, lounge at the spa facilities overlooking the ocean and mountains, enjoy spa treatments, or simply enjoy the sun. See smaller villages that few tourists go, and get a true education and taste of Croatia with various tastings of regional wines, aperitifs and cheeses.

 

 

Erin Lewis


She's studied various types of yoga disciplines since 1998, concentrating on the Ashtanga discipline since 2008. She received her teacher certification in Florence, Italy and now she combines powerful movements with more anatomical-based core Vinyasa flow in her personal practice and teaching style.

An Italophile and avid traveler herself, Erin has previously lived in Italy and now travels there from the US as often as she can, splitting her time from a small island in Florida. Not only will she share her love of yoga - but also her love of Italy and the Italian culture.

Erin is the founder of Eat.Pray.Move Yoga Retreats. EPM was born from her love of yoga and travel, and a passion to share these two loves with others. She recently relocated from a small island in Florida to the big city of New York with her husband, two cats, and a lot of excitement. A few years back they had the opportunity to live in Italy to fully indulge their senses in la bella vita, and now return as often as they can to il bel paese.

Italy and many other locations around the Mediterranean beckon to her for some reason; it's a draw that has only grown stronger over the years. This feeling is similar to the love she feels for yoga. Studying various practices for over 12 years, she has seen her personal practice deepen and her passion for the entire discipline grow stronger, ultimately leading to my certification as a yoga instructor, which she continues to build on with ongoing education. She has been blessed throughout her yoga practice to be surrounded by beautiful teachers who grow with their students, adjust lovingly, and practice what they teach and she continues to strive to be such a facilitator of yoga herself.

 

 

Location


This yoga retreat will be held at the beautiful historic villa located in the bay of Zaton which offers a serene environment to enjoy the natural beauty, the waters, mountains, and vistas whilst just minutes away from the bustling excitement of the city of Dubrovnik, the nearest city in the neighborhood. Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea, in the region of Dalmatia within Croatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean.

 

 

Accommodation


This yoga retreat will take place at the beautiful historic villa, named Zamagna in the bay of Zaton just outside of Dubrovnik. This 400-year-old stone summer house was one of the first such homes of its kind in quiet Zaton Bay where the aristocracy of old Dubrovnik came to retreat for the summer months. For many years this particular villa has been passed down through the same family line and is opening its doors to receive guests. It's a unique look into the history of Dubrovnik and its beautiful people.

The venerable stone guest house at water's edge enjoys a peaceful location on the quiet bay against a backdrop of steep, rocky hills and cultivated terraces. The residence is set among an exquisite garden with vine-covered trellises, carefully designed to showcase a variety of colorful blooming flowers and fragrant herbs, fruits, and vegetables. A small chapel nearby is part of the residence, donated by the ancestors of the Zamagna family to the local community and still in use for church ceremonies.

Inside the villa the original design and look of the main rooms and salon were preserved, while the rest of the house was recently completely renovated, including all the guestrooms, to a more modern style. Rooms are spacious, and enjoy views towards the garden or the bay, with wooden furniture, private bathrooms, and fresh linens.

Food


Healthful, vegetarian food is part of the retreat experience, including breakfasts and dinners daily, as well as selected lunches. Enjoy cuisine which combines creativity and flavors with a special attention to creating balanced meals. Wholesome ingredients, freshness of the foods, traditional cooking methods and local ingredients are present in every meal you will enjoy at the villa. Meals will be enjoyed on the salon or in the shade of the outdoor veranda.

We'll feast on traditional flavors of Croatia mixed with Mediterranean styles as well. Plus, throughout the week we'll have a chance to sample many regional wines, aperitifs, and other tastes such as cheeses and various other specialties. Special dietary restrictions can be accommodated.

What to bring

Besides the basic packing and travel needs, there are a few things to think about bringing with you such as bathing suit (bay activities, beach, and spa), comfortable shoes, yoga clothes, yoga mat, personal yoga props, sweat towels for practice, plug adaptors / converters, insect repellant, sunscreen, casual clothing, and layer for various weather.

Minimum deposit of 800 USD is required to hold space. Final balance is due 45 days before retreat start date.

 

Cancellation

Please note that because EPM Yoga Retreats are limited to a small number of attendees, to allow for a more personable, intimate experience, our cancellation policy is in place to help guests and us alike work together sharing expenses that may arise from unexpected cancellations.

Hold deposit is non-refundable.

Hold deposit is transferable to another attendee.

Cancellation requests submitted within 30 days of retreat date, 50% of total amount (less deposit) will be refunded.

Within 14 days of your retreat: no refunds given, no exceptions.

No one books a retreat with the intention of cancelling it, but unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance and that it is your responsibility to read and understand our cancellation policies. Exceptions can not be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits for failure to attend or failure to complete the retreat, or for arriving late or leaving early.

We encourage you to purchase trip cancellation insurance in order that your trip fees will be covered should you or your family have a medical problem prior to your trip or while on the trip. Trip insurance should also be purchased to cover medical expenses in the event you have an accident while on the retreat. Most travel insurance must be purchased within 14 days of making your reservation. We reserve the right to cancel retreats with inadequate participant interest, in which case all money paid to Eat.Pray.Move Yoga Retreats will be refunded. Notification of cancellation will occur at least 1 month prior to retreat start date. Eat.Pray.Moves  Retreats can not be held responsible for any personal expenses, such as airline tickets due to changes in itineraries or retreat cancellations.

I was showered with warmth at Julian and Amanda's stunning villa where the views are to die for! The day excursions and yoga were well balanced and afforded time for quite relaxation. My energy levels were always at a high thanks to the daily serving of fresh and wholesome Italian cuisine. Erin created a class atmosphere which was focused yet fun. “The Tuscany retreat was an amazing experience!! I love yoga and love to travel so this was the perfect combination and a great balance of both.
